Figured a nice, new, top of the line mattress would change my sleeping habits and help me get better rest, i was wrong. I wanted to buy local, figured that would help too, also wrong.. In 2 years my wife and I would roll into the middle, 2 more years and we ended up sleeping in different rooms, 2 more years and it developed a sharp squeak even when you breathe. My decision to go Mattress Firm was a result of that research, reviews I had read the products they carried, their pricing, etc. After all of the research I did the last thing I ever thought I would be doing is writing a negative review. The purchasing experience was pleasant, I was assisted by Bob, a very knowledgeable and professional sales associate who answered all of my questions, addressed all of my concerns positively. When checking out I was disappointed to learn their highly touted marketing campaign "100% next day delivery" was nothing more than words. I purchased my mattress on Monday the earliest availability delivery appointment was Friday between 7p and 10p. Yes, PM. Nonetheless It was a great value and they waived the delivery fee. Friday comes along, at 9:50pm I receive a call they are 5 minutes away. The truck arrives, the delivery driver asks if they are removing my old mattress and if so, could he please see it. Proceeds to walk back outside & to the truck where he helps the person assisting him finish removing the plastic from the mattress, they loosely keep the plastic where they are carrying it (I guess to keep their hands from getting it dirty?). Not 60 seconds later I see the new mattress ($1,450 mattress) hit the ground and drug 4 feet in the mud (but they just dropped it), something that probably wouldn't have mattered if they left the plastic on. When I asked why they took the plastic off the response was, "we didn't take if off, it ripped" - "I've never seen it rip like that," the other echos before he says "you probably don't want it now do you?' I refused delivery and thought given the experience that I would receive a call from the store, after all - my business is and satisfaction with their company is important to them right? Wrong. Not only did I not receive a phone call, I had to call. I explained the situation to Bob (who isn't empowered enough to remedy anything) and asked that he please have the regional manager phone me. Days later. I've received NO call, NO resolution and have still have NO mattress. Apparently superior customer service is not a standard operating procedure within this organization so if that is important to you I wish you better luck than I had because evidently luck is what you need. We visited many furniture stores including multiple locations of VCF. When we visited VCF at Broad St location, the Sales guy was so good and helpful. He spent time with us to understand what we need and did not do overselling at anytime. Great experience at first (My apologies, I forgot his name). Now after 4 years, we went again to the store for a warranty issue. Initial setup of calls to evaluate the damage and decide, if its a fix or replacement was pretty smooth. It took a while after that to find out actually about the next step. Have to visit multiple times at the store, which was little frustrating. Finally, I met Rick, who was the store manager and after that everything went so smooth. He not only made sure that I get the replacement and also on courtesy waived the delivery charges, since it was for a replacement under warranty. "BRANDON" , the sales guy who showed us the options for replacement was so cool and helped us to pick the right mattress.Even the female person at billing completed the job without any hassles. I know people have different experiences with product of service. To me if the staff is good in servicing their clients, you get a positive response from the customers. Delivery was made on a Rainy Friday evening at almost 6pm. Delivery team seemed to be in a hurry to get going. Assembled the bed, brought in the mattress, not wrapped in the protective plastic it comes with, and before you knew it, they were on their way. When we looked at our new mattress, my wife saw that the mattress was dropped outside (unwrapped) and was sopping WET.....in addition, the bed was missing a bolt and was not assembled properly. Service department handled it OK, we got our new mattress a month later. They guaranteed the fact that we will never shop there again. Hire delivery people who care about the customer experience.
