Okay, first of all you guys are overreacting and half of these reviews make 0 sense. This hotel is good for the price!! It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The only thing was the sink was a little slow in draining but really that's it and that's not a problem really. I would definitely come here again and don't hesitate to go stay here, trust me it's pretty good and if something is wrong the front desk is very good and helpful. So yes, it's worth to stay here! read more

Recommend: No. 'Choice Hotels' - by this, the 2nd Choice Hotel location in two days is unbelievable... In using Choice Hotels and Holiday Inn Expresses alternatively over the last 14days, there is NO COMPETITION. Choice Hotels is bottom of the barrel. It has to be said. *Management needs to really be held accountable. The positives: - Bed - Hot shower - A t.v. - Hallways partly updated - Gym - Ice machine (likely never sanitized so use caution!) - Washing machine services (but no coins available from front desk for two days??) The negatives: - Corrosion in/on everything. Literally. - RUST in the bathtub - everywhere. See photos. - Loose floor tiles, LOOSE!? - Very noisy traffic to all rooms from Interstate traffic. - No fan in bathroom (the cause from all the rust). - Paltry 'marketplace' (food) items to chose from. - Stains all over entire bathroom, bedrooms and restrooms downstairs. - Grounds unkept, plentiful cigarette buts cracked pavement. - Inaccessible toilet paper from main floor restroom. And unfortunately, the list just goes on and on... This hotel is AS others have communicated; very, very dirty. Choice Hotels needs to reprimand this owner and remove their title from this facility. This was, without question, the most disturbing hotel experience I have ever had. I would strongly warn anyone considering staying here to think twice. When we arrived, we were told our room would be ready in 30 minutes. Instead, we waited in the lobby for nearly two hours before we were finally given keys. During that time it was clear the hotel was extremely disorganized. The front desk employee appeared completely overwhelmed and couldn't even get her computer system to function properly. She repeatedly called for help but seemed to receive nothing more than phone assistance. No one ever actually came to help her. While waiting in the lobby, we witnessed multiple concerning things happening in the hotel. The individuals coming and going raised serious questions about what is actually happening inside this property. At one point, a mother approached the desk to complain that the hot tub water was dangerously hot -- she described it as boiling -- and she also had to ask for towels because none were available in the pool area. Unfortunately, the real shock came when we were finally given our room. I have never in my life walked into a hotel room in such an unacceptable condition. It is honestly difficult to fully describe how bad it was. The floors were sticky and covered with visible footprints. Every door had a strange white film on it, and the room had a strong, unpleasant odor that someone later described as possibly being related to drugs. Every outlet, light switch, and door handle was filthy -- some appearing to have what looked like fecal matter on them. There were holes in the walls, stains all over the walls, and multiple unknown stains throughout the carpet. The kitchen sink was filthy and appeared to have been used like a bathroom sink, with what looked like toothpaste residue left behind. The trash cans had no liners, and behind the toilet there was red material that looked like broken makeup that had clearly never been cleaned. There was urine around the toilet, hair in the bathtub, and toiletries scattered around as if no one had cleaned the room at all. Food crumbs were left throughout the room, including in the corners and under the couch cushions. The couch and chair looked extremely worn and dirty. The ceiling fan was covered in dust. The beds were perhaps the most alarming part. One bed appeared to have been quickly made but clearly did not have clean sheets. The other bed had been completely stripped, with the bedding left piled on the floor while the pillows with pillowcases were still on the mattress. This was not simply a poorly cleaned room. It looked like a room that had been lived in and never properly serviced. The overall condition of the hotel itself also appeared dirty and neglected. Photos will be attached because the condition of this room is almost impossible to believe otherwise. I cannot believe this hotel would send paying guests to a room in this condition. This property is not suitable for guests and something is seriously wrong with how it is being managed. After seeing the condition of the room, we contacted the original hotel that had sent us here. They immediately sent over a manager from their property to see the situation firsthand. Even the manager was visibly taken aback by what we had been given. They quickly apologized, assured us we would not be charged for this stay, and arranged two rooms back at their property instead. Between 4 PM and 8 PM, what should have been a relaxing evening with a bridal party turned into hours of trying to find a safe and acceptable place to stay. Hot tub did not work and was dirty anyway with bugs in it, water pressure in shower is none,toilet run all nite, bed is worse than a rock, pillows are flat had to sleep on three, was going to get coffee in lobby it was cold was told just go put it in the microwave. Place is nice and well kept and a great location. The A/C has been an issue since the start of the visit. Front desk lady named Patricia, has no customer service whatsoever. She hung up on me when I called for the room phone, then I went down stairs and she is very rude and not receptive of the information that I was giving her of the issue. I had to call corporate and have them on the phone so she would atleast act like she cared. We will not be back to this location. We are in town for a basketball camp at ACU and needed a room with a working A/C as our girls have been playing basketball all day. I wouldn't recommend a place like this for 200 plus dollars a night. read more

Here we go, the main chair in the living room area had sweaty a'ss butt cheek stains with fecal matter in the middle of the sweaty a'ss butt cheeks. I brought it up to the owner and day manager, they thought it was funny until I presented the picture's. The manager still had a fecal eating grin on his face the entire conversation. This place is absolutely the dirtiest hotel I've had the displeasure of staying at. Dirty towels, dirty sheets, dirty coffee pot, everything was dirty and the breakfast was undercooked. This place would be hard to get any dirtier, wait with this bunch I'm sure they'd manage that task with pride Corporate could have cared less as well, they acted like they'd get right on it and contact me within 72 hours nothing, even though the call center lady told me this would be expedited, nothing at all. I wouldn't recommend this beyond dirty "hit hole to my worst enemy. I give this "hit hole negative zero stars but I can't post this without giving this turd a star. We got what we paid for--a cheap place to sleep, poorly managed. Room wasn't ready even though we were checked in & given a key at 5pm (a pile of dirty linen still in the doorway). Although the property looked recently painted and with new carpet, it still looked dirty. Sticky floors, dust & larger particles on all surfaces. Bathtub was badly chipped & rusty. Something spilled & running down the wall near the bed. Pool was closed & never saw a worker during the 4 days we stayed there. The front desk was often unstaffed or only occupied by a bored person who rarely looked up from their smartphone. Breakfast was of equally poor quality, although the waffles were excellent. We'll find somewhere else to stay next time we're in Abilene. read more

The couch is comfortable but the bath/shower has rust all on the bottom of the tub spreading from the drain and it is positively repulsive. Fortunately we are only staying 1 night. Then again the saying "You get what you pay for" definitely applies,but in an attempt to leave on a positve note , we practically have the hotel to ourselves and we have a few good food joints nearby.... If I could give this hotel no stars I would! I paid a total of $116 for this dump! Overpriced and not getting what you expect. The room was old and worn down. All furniture chipped. Dirty carpet and walls. The couch was torn and had no cushioning and also smelled. The towels looked old and dirty, so I went to purchase my own at a Walmart down the street. Well we needed a place to stay and it seemed like every place in Abeline was either $200 a night or on the cheap but they didn't look to great. My wife chose Comfort Inn because we needed a room quick. Around $110 a night. When we arrived I knew I should have went ahead and spent more somewhere else but as they say you get what you pay for. We needed to have two beds and a foldout couch. After unpacking and getting settled in we realized the fold out couch was broke and wouldn't fold out. We had to pack everything back up and move to another room. Our new room had half the light bulbs out and had hardly any water pressure for the shower. Not that big of a deal but part of the reason we stayed at a hotel was so the kids could swim at a pool. Well there was a pool but it was so cold if you like taking cold showers you'd love the pool. Max occupancy for the pool is 10 so as you can imagine it is a small pool. Ceiling was caved in over the hot tub and was blocked off. All of us were really itchy after we got out of the pool. Well I can't recommend it but it's ok for a quick rest. read more

I made the mistake of saving a few bucks to stay here instead of Residence Inn next door. I've stayed in Comfort Suites before that have been fine so I thought this would be too. WRONG! When we walked in the entire lobby had the most horrible smell - like cat urine. It was awful. There was a fan running so I thought there must have been a leak they were drying out and that's why the carpet smelled. If it hadn't been so late at night and I'd already paid for the room online I probably would have left at that point. Our room was "ok" but the bathtub had so much rust that I didn't even want to shower in it. The toilet wouldn't flush until I realigned the lid. The mini fridge was disgusting with a build up of BROWN frost that hadn't been defrosted in forever. The handle on the cabinet was broken where you couldn't open it. At this point, I totally inspected the bed with a flashlight because I was getting leery. Thankfully it was very clean so we stayed. The girl at the desk was very friendly but I will never stay here again read more

Booked this hotel for an overnight stay with my fiancé. Room looked clean but toilet has stains, see picture. Urine stains were under these pieces of plastic. At breakfast the waffle irons were not set to preheat. Long delays to make waffles and one iron was out of service because a teen put batter in and let it. Attendant never came out of the prep area for the 25 minutes we were there. Tiles in the bathroom were all cracked and doors looked beaten up. As in another review the drain part of the ice machine was filthy and the bathtub did not drain and had black material after shower that did not come from us. Staying tonight at the Hampton down the road same price and it is head and shoulders better. Keep driving. read more

It's fine little joint, no destination hotel, but just fine for a few nights near ACU. But this is funny. The elevator has a homemade sign in it that says not to have more than five people in it "FOR YOUR SAFETY" which I found a little disconcerting since the manufacturers plaque in the elevator says it is safe up to 2500 lbs. Either they elevator is jenk or they have some super burly people in Abilene. We didn't test out the breakfast, pool or exercise facility so I cannot comment on them. But the room was comfortable. It's small for a suite. It's the size of standard room with a little half wall between the bed and sofa. The walls are a little dinged up and there's defiantly room for some minor repairs. But it was clean, cool and comfy so I'm happy. I booked the room on hotels.com so I was only paying about $90 a night during parent weekend so I'm cool with it. read more

We spent about $115 for 2 nights here and were severely dissatisfied. Right at the front door there was a huge leak and a ton of water damage. Once we got to our room there was a leak in the shower and mold all over the tub so we switched rooms. This room wasn't much better. Bed was broken and there was a leak in the sink faucet. I decided to give them another chance after my last visit, when I returned to my room after being away for 12 hours to find that housekeeping had not bothered to come by. Well, it just happened again. I left my room at 8:30 this morning and returned st 9:30pm and no housekeeping visit. The front desk's response was "I'll make a note of that. Booked for multiple days. On second day came back to room to find dirty brown water from the sink and bath faucet and when flushing toilet. Took a glass of water down to the front desk and was told to 'let it run until it clears up since we worked on the pipes today'. After letting it run for about 10 minutes, it was still brown. My wife was on the phone asking for the managers phone number and was told she couldn't have it. She got very irritated to say the least. We finally checked out and went to the nearby H.I. Express. There were some other discussions with the front desk young woman (A______a) who would not let either my wife or I finish talking before she started arguing back. Very frustrating. She should not be involved with hospitality. In addition the first day I asked for a sheet to cover the stained cushions on the sofa. That was done. I also noticed one of the black-out blinds in the room was stained as if it had been in a flood or the window left open. Lastly, don't walk in bare feet; the carpets were pretty gross. At least we were able to get a refund for the three days after checking out. read more

This is our second time to stay at this hotel and we've really enjoyed it. We checked in last night around 9pm and still had a chance to go swimming in the indoor pool and relax in the hot tub...so relaxing after a long drive. Breakfast is always included and it's your average type of stuff, nothing to get excited over but grateful that it's quick, easy, and included in the room rate. The staff is great here, they're attentive and friendly. I love the suite's "living room" area because you can stay up (wrapping Christmas presents until 1am) while your husband and son snooze peacefully and undisturbed in the "bedroom." This place is only a few years old and I love staying here when I am in Abilene. The rooms are super clean and they have a good sized TV in each room that I have every stayed in. The people who work the front desk are always friendly and they do their all to make sure your stay is as pleasant as possible. This hotel is located right on I-20 so it is perfect if you are driving east or west just looking for a place for the night. read more

Guest services are COMPLETELY unacceptable. We checked in to spend the night before an early morning funeral. We got to the room and the smoke detector battery was beeping. No way we could sleep through it so I called the front desk. I was told there was no maintenance person on call and that I could come get a battery. Mind you I have no way of climbing up to the detector. She informed me that wasn't her problem. So I asked for another room and was told they are full. So I sent my teen daughter down to get the battery because at this point this young lady and I are not on good terms. She sends her back with two AA batteries. While visiting Abilene,Texas for the weekend meeting my fiancés family we stayed in "Comfort Suites University" (1902 E Overland Trail, Abilene TX 79601) Saturday morning about 8:30 ish My fiancé, and sister-in-law told me they were heading out to set up for our Great grandmothers party. I felt the back of my arm stinging really bad, and extremely itchy. I look and I see a bad bite, I don't overthink it to much I thought maybe I got bit by a mosquito, so I checked my 1 month old baby to see if she had any and she was fine so I didn't overthink as long as she was ok that's all that mattered. So later that night as me, my fiancé, our daughter, and sister-in-laws are just up talking I feel that same feeling I felt that morning but this time on the back of my thigh, I pointed it out to them and while everyone is looking at my bite my younger sister-in-law notices a really tiny insect type of thing and instantly we took pictures and seen it was a bed bug. So I panic and rush down to the front desk to let the guy who was working the shift know and showed him the pictures and my bites an he even said himself it does look like it and he was very polite about it as was I and he handled the situation with care and moved us to another room ( I went to Walmart and got bed bug spray and Lysol) deep cleaned before moving anything into the room. We contact our family, and the next morning my father-in-law let them know this is a serious matter and they told him that "when the housekeeping went to the room and checked, it was no sign of any bed bugs. So we don't believe that what your saying was accurate" COMPLETELY denying the fact that what we have proof of and what we seen was a complete lie. I understand that people do tend to carry bed bugs and it's not the hotel at fault but when you don't treat your hotel rooms properly situations like this take place. I wouldn't recommend ANYONE to stay at this hotel especially if it's not being treated how it should. read more

Three days of frustration doesn't make for a good experience. I normally stay on the south side of Abilene and never had an issue with the Internet at that comfort inn. read more

The only reason I gave this hotel 1 star is because the lady who get the breakfast ready in the morning is a beautiful soul. I booked a room here to visit the ACU the next day. Upon arrival I asked for a room on the 1st floor which I was told because of the room I booked that would not be possible. So because I got a room at a lower price? Oh no we are totally booked.Fine I was given a room on the 4th floor which the key didn't work. went back down got it reprogrammed and viola nope it didn't work went back, the young lady say well maintenance is gone for the but. Fiancé is on his way and I'll have him look at it. (I'm confused)so a I waiting till he fixes it? The young lady gives me another key another room? So you're not totally booked. I went up opened the door an the room is hot, that's weird usually the room is super cold oh look the filter vent is broken open I turned down the air to 60 (should have been my 1st clue). Went to wash my hands (as we get ready to leave for dinner) and my toes get a sprinkle I'm like what the heck. So I get one horn call the front desk. I got the same answer the maintenance is gone for the day but my fiancé will be here soon and I'll have come up a take a look. I'm like after we get back please! So we get back the room it seemed colder but the filter vent still open and you guessed it under the sink is still leaking. I'm thinking it late at least it getting colder and I'll don't have to turn the faucet on till the morning. I wish, the room got cool not 60 degrees but tolerable and about 3ish am the air said 60 but the air was more like 75 I'm like wow my husband and daughter are out and I'm dying of a heat stroke! We get up get ready eat breakfast the food yuk but that lady that makes sure things are a good. She was great amazingly friendly best part of our trip! Get to the front desk tell the new girl what happened and offers me a free night or an adjustment which I made the mistake of thinking the adjustment would be the same amount as the free night WROOONG I got a $25 adjustment we'll live and learn and with that I'm done with choice hotels!! I'll pay little more but it will be much better! read more

* Pros: very, very friendly staff. Great location for what we needed to do in and around Abilene. Good price. Comfortable beds. Room was relatively clean, with the exceptions noted below. * Cons: this property is in desperate need of some T.L.C. Air co unit was very noisy; we debated whether to ask for another room but decided to tough it out since we use a white noise machine when we sleep. It appeared housekeeping got interrupted in mid-clean of the room; no shampoo, hand soap, etc., crumpled up tissue on bathroom counter (prompting me to give the counter a quick Lysol spritz), missing "do not disturb" door hanger, carpet may or may not have been vacuumed. Fortunately the beds were clean (I checked very carefully). Floor tiles in bathroom were badly cracked in multiple places. Mold along bathroom baseboard. Hot and cold water pipes into the faucet fixture were reversed in both the sink and tub. I didn't immediately realize this and so called the desk for help when I couldn't get hot water; clerk apologetically said she'd report it first thing in morning since no one was on duty in maintenance in the evening. Hubby eventually discovered the reversal so that worked out, tho water pressure was pretty sad. Towels were clean but gray and dingy-looking, and in some cases stained. Sofa was saggy, with sleeper frame hanging out the front past the cushions Frame appeared to be permanently screwed together in a way that would preclude using the sleeper feature (luckily we didn't need it). TV in breakfast area kept turning the volume all the way down and then all the way up without human intervention. Another guest and I figured out how to turn on closed captioning and kill the audio so that worked out ok. Hotel staff said some kids had broken the tv and the hotel just hadn't gotten around to fixing it. We've stayed at this hotel several times since it opened (I think that was sometime around 2008 or 2009?) But 10 years later it's really showing its age. Ithink this may be our last stay here unless we find out that they've rehabbed the place and they take more care in maintaining it. read more

So I wrote a review about this disgusting hotel and it was posted and I was checking back to see what other people had to say about their stay. Funny my review is no longer on here...if I could give this -5 stars I would. We didn't even stay the night it was so terrible. The staff was rude except for one lady checking everyone in because they made everyone wait until exactly 3:00 pm. I felt bad for her cause she was overwhelmed and it was burning hot waiting in line. Sheets hadn't been washed (hairs in the bed and stains), carpet disgusting, stuff was smeared all over the walls, furniture looked like it came from the dump, bathroom gross and broken toilet roll holder, towels smelled horrible ( I felt dirty even after showering). As soon as I got out of the shower my husband said we weren't staying and we packed up and left. I took another shower as soon I got home! This is by far the worst place I have ever booked to stay. My son was disappointed we couldn't stay because it was for his birthday. Spend a little extra money and stay somewhere clean! Plenty of other hotels in this area. read more

This is my third time to stay at this particular location. The rooms are clean the beds are very comfortable, the AC is quiet AND cold and the service I received from Melody was phenomenal! After having some issues with our Choice Rewards points, Melody was able to assist in taking care of the problem after the Choice Reward customer service representative was not helpful at all. Melody also replaced the battery in the key card reader for our door. The points problem along with the key card issue could have turned this stay into an unpleasant experience. Melody sets the example for great customer service and a true desire to make her guests have an enjoyable stay at this Comfort Suites location. read more

I'll give this location two stars because of its location (near restaurants) and for the hospitality. For the most part the room was clean I didn't see any stains on the sheets or the carpet. There were a lot of dings in the wall and a little damage to the tiles in the bathroom. I went to get ice and the ice machine was filthy. There was black mold at the bottom of the ice machine. My biggest issue was ROACHES!!! I noticed something crawling on the counter where the plastic cups are held and it was a German cockroach! I thought maybe it was just an incidental thing but then I saw 3 more. Disgusting. I've stayed here once before and it was fine. I'm not sure what's happened in the last 6-8 months. If during the stay the city wasn't under a tornado warning I would have definitely checked out and found another hotel. I travel extensively and I often book Comforts for business travel. This location is definitely going off of my list and I will definitely NEVER stay here again. I can tolerate a few small things here and there but I won't pay to lay with roaches. read more
