Came here on my way back from Miami. Wanted to stop here since it was in route to Chicago. This hotel has alot of places near by. Front lobby was very beautiful, staff is friendly. It was great that they featured complimentary breakfast in the morning. The one thing that was a treat was that their pool was 24 hours as well. What was unfortunate was that, it was full of children, unsupervised and eating tons of pizza. I immediately left the pool area upset. They're food pantry was awful especially their selection to choose from. The room was decent, clean as well. read more

Nice location. Clean room. A small fenced pet area is really nice to have. We got a pet friendly room because we have 3 dogs with us. All of the pet rooms are on the third floor which isn't great. Also both rooms we saw (first room didn't have working A/C) have a hardwood laminate flooring and our dogs are slipping a lot. Beware for older or bigger dogs. And apparently it is hotel policy not to turn on the A/C before guests arrive. We've been here for almost 3 hours and are still waiting for our room to cool off. Not very pleasant. read more

If I can give this hotel a -100 review I will. I did not like anything about this Comfort Inn. Total opposite of the other Comfort Inn we've stayed (WA, SD). Customer service is horrible and they over charge you. On top of it NOT WORTH the money you pay per night and pet fee per night. This facility is a JOKE and over priced compared to any 5 star hotel we stayed in MD which is Embassy Suite who ONLY charged us $75.00 for pet fee all 4 nights not per night like this trash hotel who charged us $25/night pet fee. Early morning of our check out they slipped our receipt through the door and I noticed they charged us more than the booking quoted us for $221 and some change. I went down and told the front desk that the booking charged us $221.xx including tax and her response was "oh we don't follow the online price." And so I told her "if that is the case I will call BOOKING and let them know that your facility do not honor what they (Booking) quoted us". That being said she told us that we need to wait for her manager. Manager arrived and showed us all the "discount" she gave us and not charging us the pet fee.... well GUESS what the pet fee is not in the receipt we received BUT took $53.10 for whatever reason DID NOT receive a receipt. Clean comfortable suites with friendly, knowledgeable front desk staff who checked me in at almost 11pm. I wished I could've enjoyed my room for longer. The clerk mentioned a minor deduction that would appear on my bill and I was delighted to see it actually appeared on my bill! Minus 1/2 star for breakfast: The hours posted and repeated by the front desk last night said breakfast ended at 9 a.m. I walked in at 8:45 a.m, only to have a hotel employee tell me "It's closed!" I asked what about the sign saying it ended at 9 am and she said "We're ending at 8:30 today." She then saw I was annoyed and said her boss had told her to close early because they were doing maintenance but she wasn't going to stop me. So I got what I wanted and left. read more

Ants everywhere on our baseboards... everywhere. They owned this room. Older female at the front desk was not concerned at all and didn't have any other rooms to offer us. After touring the western states for a couple of weeks, staying in the standard Motel 6s and Best Westerns, and super 8s, and the mom and pops, the Comfort Inns have been a blessing. (Not religioulous). Comfort Inns seem to take it to a new level, and have very good breakfasts as well. Their 24/7 hot tub and indoor pool are great. There's not much else to do here besides pooling it out. And they have a great chill patio outside the pool. Good for pets. read more

This hotel blatantly does not adhere to any COVID-19 safety precautions. Employees were not wearing masks, there was no hand sanitizer, and there were not signs indicating that a pandemic was happening. The employee also threatened to call the police when I pointed this out. Don't stay here unless you want to contribute to a business that has no concern for the health of its employees, customers, or community. read more

I've stayed here a few times so far, which should be sign number one for considering a hotel in this area! The staff is always friendly, rooms clean, ALLOWS DOGS, has a clean pool...what more can you ask for? I'm only giving it 4 stars just because of the price. It's pricier than other hotels in the area, but you get what you pay for. If I'm on the road, I have a motto of "I will sleep well and eat well". Also, not a lot of parking for a trailer if the dirt lot next to the hotel is over taken with semi trucks. But, that does not bother me after 12+ hours of driving. Stay here if you are in the area and looking for a clean room with friendly staff. I'll be back again in the spring! read more

We were here November 2020 and I hadn't gotten around to give a review. I give a 3 because it could've been worse and also because we only went once for one night. We have a pet, but our room didn't look like it had been cleaned very well when we got there. Hair everywhere including human.. in the shower and then on the beds didn't look like it had been vacuumed over at all. Decent room I suppose for one night but your paying the same $ for a much nicer, cleaner experience at Drury imo and they offer free hot food morning and night... not as bad as a motel 6 but theres a better option for the same price very close. read more

My daughter and I very recently stayed at this hotel. It is a pet friendly hotel. We were traveling with my daughters diabetic alert service dog. We were asked to leave the dining area because we had the service dog. The staff stated that we needed to leave the area because there is the possibility that a guest could have an allergy to dogs. Not that a specific guest actually had an allergy. Not because someone complained about the service dog. I spoke to the owner and had a lengthy debate on the phone and asked for a refund and that he re-educate his staff as this is illegal, and a clear violation of the ADA. He said he would give me a refund as long as I did not file a complaint and that he would retract the refund if I did... class act. read more

What a wonderful Hotel! What a gem off the side of the road. I called and Ruth answered and I asked what they were doing about the Covid crisis. I was concerned for the obvious reasons and she reassured me a room would be sanitized and clean. This hotel is above beyond what I was expecting. Not a happy camper #comfortsuites... they stuck me in a room with no AC. It's unseasonably warm for this time of year. I checked in late and after dinner then a Jacuzzi I finally realised it wasn't working. They moved me into a larger suite on the 3rd flr. (which they pointed out costs more usually) on the 3rd floor. I ended up trying that Jacuzzi and found it had half the pressure of the first suite. So the next morning I had another visit to the first floor room... since the community hot tub wasn't working either. I'm still waiting to hear from the GM for a rate reduction for all my troubles... read more

We booked a reservation and then had car trouble. The hotel would not give us credit back because it was less than 24 hours from the time we were going to be staying there. They said to talk to the manager that only the manager could do anything about it. Spoke to the manager, manager said owner had a strict policy never to give any refund unless someone had Covid. So never mind car trouble and it being impossible to get there, they kept about $200 of our money which is exactly what we paid for a tow truck because of our car trouble. We had stayed there previously and because the location was perfect for us we had continued to stay there however, after this incident happened I recalled that the last time we were there even though we went through a third-party to reserve the room they charged us for the room and made the third-party credit us back. And they were upset with us using a third-party and advised us not to. Which is exactly what we did this time, book directly with them, and you see where that got us. No refund. By the way what that meant last time was that we paid twice for the same room and didn't get reimbursed until the next day, nor by them mind you, but the third party. I will never ever ever stay here again, and neither should you. FYI We were not notified of the 24hr cancellation policy before we made the reservation, so no warning that we were screwed until the car troubles! read more

I don't think anyone goes to Mt. Vernon for a luxurious, pampering travel experience. But for this being the newest hotel in Mt. Vernon, I expected a little better. I scored the suite at around $80 per night by becoming a member of Choice Hotels and prepaying. At check-in, I thought the lobby and the breakfast buffet areas still looked "new" and quite nice. My basic suite featured two queen beds, a sleeper sofa, a microwave, and a mini refrigerator. The bathroom was on the small side for what you might expect in a typical suite, and I noticed a little mold growing on the shower curtain. The hotel offers free wireless, but service was very spotty. I could only successfully log on maybe a third of the time. Guests are charged a bullshit $1.50 "safe" fee each night, but you can ask to have it waived - I did. The Pasta House (a St. Louis area chain restaurant that I love) is just across the parking lot, and you can save 10 percent by showing your room key. Staff was friendly and nothing went horribly wrong, but I didn't leave impressed. I'll probably choose Fairfield Inn or Hampton Inn during my next visit to the area. read more

I was extremely put off by the front deck clerk (long gray hair) who upon our arrival, warned my three small children ages 9, 8, and 5 - who had just spent 11 hours in the car- about running in the halls. Low and behold, the 5 of us we're kept up all night listening to a high school baseball team roam the halls and go in and out, in and out, in and out of their rooms. Fine hotel, way below average front desk worker. There's a reason we usually stay Marriott; far better customer service. Edit- day shift personnel were far more friendly. read more

Arguably one of the worst hotels I've seen for COVID safety. Some guests wear masks, some don't. But the problem is that the front desk didn't seem to care one bit about face coverings. This, despite the fact that the new Illinois state executive order requires staff to at least talk to people or offer them masks, if they don't have one. The staff just lets people waltz around unmasked, regardless of the threat that poses to public health. In a word: avoid. read more

Everyone was very nice that works here. The bathroom door in the room didn't lock and the counter needed to be fixed. The bed was VERY uncomfortable! Didn't sleep at all because of the bed. The breakfast was good, it had many choices. More then likely we won't stay at another Comfort Suites only because of the bed. read more

Traveling through felt the hotel would be clean based upon reviews. Found the room somewhat dirty - food crumbs on the furniture and scattered on the carpet, air conditioning panel cover jammed in and couldn't open until we forced it. My husband found a pubic hair in the sink and the bathroom floor not very clean, tile grout missing and dirt in the cracks; room (#318). Bed & linens clean, staff friendly and breakfast good with plenty of choices. read more

We were very satisfied with our stay at Comfort Suites as we make our way cross country, moving from St. Louis to Miami. The bathrooms are Clean and updated, refrigerators, microwaves. The front desk clerk was very helpful in the situation, but after reaching out to the regional manager made me quickly realize that bottom line is their only priority.
