Overall, two stars. We stayed here from 09-10 August 25. The front desk and restaurant staff were great, very pleasant. The building overall is in need of serious cleaning and maintenance on a programmed schedule. I saw air quality concerns in multiple places; filters that haven't been changed in years, water leaks in the ceiling. Overall unsatisfactory. The owners need to take a reduction in net profit and invest it in the hotel maintenance and cleaning staff. Lastly, we changed rooms because of the uncleanliness and state of the room to include possible air quality issues. The second room was subpar and unclean as well with possible air, quality issues, sticky floors and pills on the floor in the bathroom. read more

We were driving back to Florida and the front desk lady was very kind. We weren't able to get a key because the WIFI was down, we didn't mind at all. She gave us a breakfast voucher and the breakfast was really great and filling. She wanted to rectify but there was no need to because the security escorted us to our room and we really appreciated it. Best night sleep at a hotel ever!! read more

We checked in on 5/26/25 with our family of 5 with three small kids. Right when we checked in we received free cookies which was nice. The lobby seemed well put together. However, our enjoyment of the hotel stopped there. When we got into our room, there was trash on the floor. The carpet felt wet, and the room was humid and sticky feeling. The bathroom had two shower gel bottles and zero shampoo bottles. The shower did not drain. The room was so humid that the tile floor was slick and caused us to almost fall repeatedly. The hotel pool felt and looked grimy. There were wet towels on the floor, and the hot tub water was green. The complimentary breakfast was decent, but seemed like they could not keep up with the demand of serving the amount of people in the hotel. When we asked if there would be more food put out, the staff was rude to us and replied in a mocking tone. We were also expected to tip for the buffet. Overall it felt more like a Motel 6 than a hotel owned by Hilton. Except at a Motel 6, we probably would have enjoyed our stay. We were here after a family funeral in the area. The 3 PM check-in was tedious because clearly they are understaffed. My room seemed clean enough, but the clock was still set for the last time zone even though it's been more than a week since times changed. Also, my curtains were partially ripped down, so although I wanted to sleep because I'm exhausted, I couldn't because the sun poured in. I was also given a room immediately next to the elevators. Not accommodating or even fully functional. Checked in late at around 2:30am. Was given a room with a broken lock. Staff attempted to fix it while we waited.. Any extra time wasted just sucks as it's 2:30 am and we're trying to leave at 9am. They finally decided to just give us a different room. It's about 3am when we finally get in there. Wake up at 8:30 to go get an extra towel, We checked in with 3 people for a double room, and there was only 2 sets. Danielle at the front desk said no, said she couldn't help me get another one and that she would have to "call a housekeeping manager". Pretty perturbed I went back up to the room to wait for the towel. 8:50 rolls around and still no towel. I have to leave without showering. I mention this to Danielle as I'm leaving that this experience was really subpar and I never got the towel and couldn't just have a basic shower. She then gave me attitude saying that it's standard for them bla bla bla. Kinda crazy. Aren't hotels supposed to be hospitable? All I know is I had 6 hours to sleep and shower and this place robbed me of one of those hours with incompetence and I couldn't take a basic shower in the end. It gets better though :( The woman who checked us in the morning of 3/20 around 3am was amazing. Danielle who was at the front desk later in the morning around 9:00am was the least helpful person. Her attitude was also uncalled for and a huge reason I'm taking the time to do all this. Before leaving I went to get the buffet. I stood at the kiosk from 9:09-9:20 (at this point I'm pissed and watching the clock) I decide to go behind the counter and just help myself to a coffee cause I have to leave. There were a few good things about this hotel, first they were the only hotel in the area with availability, check in was quick, Travis at the bar was on point and friendly, the bed was comfortable and the room quiet. The bad, the bathroom wasn't cleaned well and there were hairs everywhere! The towels were haphazardly thrown in there and the carpet needed a good cleaning . For it being such a large hotel only one elevator worked. If the bathroom would have been cleaned I could have given a little better rating. read more

Very happy with my stay this week. This is most likely the nicest hotel in the area. The lobby is very large, with many comfortable seating areas. It is beautiful with many large plants and nice decor. My room was large and very comfortable. There was a spacious desk and the room was well lit. There were many places to charge my electronic devices, and outlets conveniently located on both sides of the bed. My king size bed was comfortable, sheets were crisp and pillows were very nice. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was decent. Food was very good but menu was rather limited. Service was slow but it appeared that the restaurant was understaffed, but I have been experiencing understaffing at nearly every restaurant lately. Complimentary breakfast is served in the restaurant. It is basic with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, breads, and cereals. read more

The first week I stayed here it was great and I liked my room number 500. It was spacious and clean. The second week was NOT the case. The new room number 549 was filthy....like bad! I was also up until 2am because the people that had an adjoining door, were having extremely loud... well you know. Afterwards, my whole room filled with the smell of marijuana. I called front desk and they pretty much did not care. I asked to possibly be moved in the morning and they have not addressed the situation. I am here for business and now all of my clothes smells like marijuana. There is absolutely no customer service and the morning front desk employee is one of the rudest I have seen in a while. read more

We have enjoyed staying at Hilton hotels from Boston to California and have seldom had reason to complain. However, the Hilton Double Tree in Mount Vernon, Illinois is quite a different matter. The clerk who checked us in was unfriendly, borderline rude. We could not get the room door to open until we were told to lift the handle up. Once in the room it became obvious that the bathroom had not been properly cleaned for months. The bed was not properly made, although the linens were clean at least. Ckean sheets does not a comfortable bed make, however. The mattress was lumpy and the pillows a misery. The hotel restaurant posted online that they offered gluten-free food. But when we visited the restaurant we were greeted by a couple of teenagers who informed us that they did not offer gluten-free options. Frustrating to say the least. Now, we understand wear and tear occurs and should be expected in an older establishment, but dirty and uncomfortable is not acceptable, especially when a night's stay cost a $160. read more

Did an overnight to Mt Vernon with some friends as a getaway. We thought we might be able to get an early check in but were wrong. We actually arrived around 1 and check in is not until 3 but as a Hilton's Honor member I thought we might have had better luck. But they stated they were short staffed and running behind. So instead of a 3 pm check in it was actually a bit after 4 when we got in our rooms. We were prepared with games so sat in the lobby and played board games for a couple of hours. It was a great space for that. Actually, a VERY spacious, clean inviting lobby area with various sitting areas, work space for folks that wanted/needed to do that. They do have snacks/drinks for sale in the lobby and the restaurant is right off the lobby. One disappointment is they would/could not allow us into the pool area until we were checked in. That would have been great. But we played games instead. As a Hilton's Honor member we were upgraded to a King Suite and the second room was a double and upgraded to a room with a balcony, actually the room we were waiting to be cleaned till after 4. The King Suite was worth waiting for since it had two bathrooms and a nice separate sitting room with couch and TV. Rooms were clean and bedding was great as always at Hilton Hotels. Good quality mattresses and bedding. Nice bathroom and shower area as well. There was a coffee maker in the rooms but no other amenities (no fridge, microwave). Rooms did have safes in them but mine was locked upon entering and I didn't call maintenance to unlock it but I am sure they would have. Mine was the two bed balcony room, NOT worth waiting for. The balcony was overlooking the pool/hot tub area. Thus very steamy, hot and loud while sitting on the balcony, which I did not do due to those reasons. Also, there was a guest with about 7 children in the pool area the entire evening. Due to being able to see all the pool activity from my balcony I did not venture to the hot tub has I had planned. Several of these children were quite small, probably in diapers so I knew what the hot tub held. Also, if you turn in earlier than I think 11 pm be prepared for noise from the pool if you have a balcony room overlooking the pool. I was up later than that but was able to hear pool activity over my TV volume with the door closed. Staff were very friendly and polite. On site free parking. Our room rate included breakfast. It was a buffet with meat, eggs, biscuts gravey, other breads, fruit, cereal. So plenty of choices. Coffee was good. Check out was an easy process. Overall the hotel is lovely, rooms, lobby, pool area. I understand being short staffed, families using the pool, etc. So a bit disappointed in not geting to use the pool facilities but all in all great accomdations. read more

Though this would be a safe choice to stay at. Not very clean and has a bleached smell. This looks like it was a nice place when it opened but the floors are not vacuumed and house keeping does the bare minimum. We were given our rooms at 345pm and they were still cleaning the. The front desk didn't even know. The language use by the cleaning staff and how they were doing the job showed they didn't care and only did enough not get fired. A little disappointing we stayed at a Hampton Inn in GA and it was a lot nicer. The tvs didn't work so we had to go to bar to watch ncaa basketball. This hotel is an embarrassment to the Hilton brand. Our room was filthy and calling it a 2 bedroom "suite" is an absolute joke. It claims to sleep 6, however the sofa does not pull out, so the only places to sleep are the 2 queen beds. The digital key did not work and the front desk woman implied I was using it wrong, when in reality they programmed it to the wrong door. The manager is now blatantly lying about trying to resolve these issues with me to save face with Hilton. Completely unacceptable. read more

Great place to stay. The DoubleTree hotel has a large parking lot and they also have a restaurant on site. The hotel is across the street from the Hampton. The hotel is very close to restaurants and even walking distance to some of the restaurants. Stayed last night and the hotel employee working at night was super nice. I wished I could remember her name. We were traveling all day and she made us feel like we were at home. The DoubleTree cookies are the best! I love receiving a warm cookie when checking in. The hotel was super clean and the lobby is beautiful when walking into the hotel. The room was very nice and super clean. I felt like I was walking into a brand new hotel. Loved the bathroom. Looks are deceiving. The hotel looks great on the outside and in the lobby, but that's were it ends. I wish I read Yelp reviews instead of relying on the google reviews which has some fake looking profiles. The room was dirty. The carpet had stains, the shower had scum, the phone in the room didn't have a dial tone, the digital display on the wall thermostat wasn't working so I didn't know what temperature it was set to. The pool and hot tub were musty and moldy and it's clear the months of complaints to hotel management hasn't yielded any action on their part to address these issues. I usually trust the Double Tree brand, but this is the first time it didn't live up to its name. Place was in need of remodeling. Carpets were old and dingy in our room. The pull out couch wasn't even cleaned. The old sheets and pieces of candy and wrappers were in the bed when we opened it up. Overall, it was disappointing stay. Thankfully, it was only one night. Will definitely have to read reviews even it has the Hilton brand name on the hotel. read more

I have been a loyal Hilton member for years. My wife and I checked in yesterday and went to the room. We found that the trash had not been emptied but did not think much about it. My wife pulled the covers down about 10:00 pm and found a wad of curly, black hair between the sheets. EEEEKS. We grabbed some toilet paper and got it off the bed. We checked and did not see any more. We decided since it was late, did not see anything else, and did not want to change rooms that we would stay. The next morning, went downstairs for a good breakfast at the restaurant, and I went back to pack and clean up. I sat on the bed and started packing my computer. I felt something on my arm. I looked down to see a bug crawling on me. I jumped up and got it off. I started looking around and found what I believe to be ants crawling on the side table that holds the phone, on the bed, and on the air conditioning unit. I took several pictures and movies of the crawling insects. If I can figure out how to add pictures, I will. I went down and showed the management. They apologized and sent a crew up to the room. I was "upgraded" to a room with a balcony. Not an upgrade at all. It overlooked the pool which was incredibly loud all night. The two girls at the front desk could not be bothered about the issue at all. Also, I get up at 4 am for work. And the pool is open until 11 Pm. Kids were in there absolutely screaming right until 11. Idk why the hotel is set up this way or why I was out in a room with a balcony. If given the option, I would have opted out. I'll never stay here again. The point of a hotel is to get sleep. Amenities are an extra. I forfeited the sleep so kids could scream in a musty indoor pool at 11pm. If the pool shares a wall with guest rooms 11pm is far too late to be open. read more

This hotel typically is at the top of my list but.....upon arrival the reserved room was not clean and ready for occupancy. I called the front desk and had to wait for housekeeping to look at room before being moved to another room. This is frustrating after a full day of travel. The front desk was less than friendly but the housekeeping supervisor was very nice and apologetic. The new room was adequate with the exception the air conditioner dropped in the floor all night. I was too tired to deal with it so I threw a towel on the floor and let front desk know upon checkout. read more

Room was not totally clean- hair in shower and on wall in bathroom. Afternoon front desk people were awesome but the night person was not. I woke up and went down around 3 am and had to knock on a door to get some creamer for my coffee. She looked at me after opening the door and was like, what the hell do you want!
