What looked to be a great stop reserved and paid for on Priceline was totally ruined by clerk at the front desk! She did not greet us at the front desk, maybe she was having a bad day. Her attitude went downhill from there. She was not wearing a name tag. Multiple times she stated we did not have a reservation despite me showing her my confirmation emails. She initially said our reservation per email was for the 25th and we were there on the 24th. I did remind her that it was the 24th and that seemed to anger her further. I then texted Priceline and they gave instructions on what she could do to double check. She picked up her screen monitor, turned it part way towards me, shook the monitor and said you DON'T have a reservation. She kept reminding me she was trying to help but just kept repeating we aren't registered. At no time did she try to get help from someone else. She said I could pay for another room and then I declined saying I'd already paid for a room. I told her we weren't going to stay at all and could I speak to a manager and she turned away and said something like good go, I don't care and went in a room behind the desk. No one else came out. I did speak with a customer service rep at Priceline and ultimately got a refund. read more

I stayed at this Comfort Suites for the night for a wedding outside of Gallup and it was a 2/5. The memorial service for America was nice seeing at first all over the building but this is a Hotel? Not a memorial museum. It made me uncomfortable and overwhelming at no offense towards anyone. Every corner i took was a memorial, I felt like at that point I could feel their presence The boy who checked us in yesterday afternoon was friendly and approachable. Better than the young girl with black hair who was there this morning. She didn't talk or ask us anything. She looked mad and as we walked out this morning before 11am our checkout time. To make matters worse for me, the hot tub was well. Look at the photos i took this morning. I was disappointed they were still filling the pool up as we got there when it opened at 9am and this older man asked me to tell him when the pool gets a certain amount of water in the pool? Like I'm not here to remind you and do your job???. The cleaning staff felt like they had to force themselves to be friendly. Breakfast was sad. (8am-9am) They ran out of biscuits 20-30 minutes into their breakfast. My boyfriend was bummed and so was I. Biscuits and gravy were the main course aside from the sausage&round scrambled eggs they had. The mini four waffles were okay! Definitely have to let it cook for a few more minutes for it to be fully cooked. Lastly bagels with cream cheese were 10/10 ‼Me and my boyfriend were walking back to our room on the second floor after getting some tea&coffee from the lobby in the morning after breakfast. I asked my boyfriend if he had the card in front of our room, he jokingly said he left in the car but the lady cleaning the room next to us called us "stupid kids" I heard as clear as anything. Me and my boyfriend were shocked to hear such words especially from the cleaning lady. We quietly stopped talking and went straight back into our room. Overall personally for me and my boyfriend we wouldn't choose to stay at this Comfort Suites in Gallup again. read more

Excellent hotel; clean, well-equipped, pleasant and helpful employees -- especially Constance at the front desk, who went above and beyond to help me with an issue I had -- just an all-around pleasure to stay here. Most striking to me was that it was the first "pet friendly" hotel I've stayed in on my two week long road trip with my dog, staying in a different hotel each night, that didn't smell horrendous. I don't know why all these pet friendly hotels have carpeted rooms, but it seems like the dog accident smell has permeated the rug, the upholstered couches and chairs, etc, which the hotels try to mask with toxic, unpleasant fragrances. The Comfort Inn smelled clean, no fragrances, no old pet smells. I immediately signed up for their "Choice Program," and already made a reservation at our next stop for one of their hotels. I'm hoping that all their hotels will meet this standard, and if so, will only stay at their hotels from here on out, especially when traveling with my dog. read more

I love that every corner of the lobby and corridors was decorated with American heroes. I stayed here for two weeks. The front lobby staff are there just to check you in or out. Anything beyond that, you're on your own. For the ladies who prepare breakfast, they are hardworking and always make sure it's well stocked. As for breakfast it is good for what it is, but I enjoy making fresh waffles. The coffee is not what I'm used to, for me it's water down with a hint of what appears to be coffee. The community laundry machine for the dryer was broken, it appears to be broken for a very long time. Not sure it will ever be fixed. As for my fellow colleagues their room has a roof leak and noticeable where they once patched at the third floor. The other, the bathroom put off some nasty odor that fumes throughout the suite on the first floor. As for my room, the toilet didn't flush well and the shower isn't draining. Beside that, the room cleaning ladies were helpful and always kept the room looking nice and used towels were replaced with fresh towels daily. I wish that I could give this place a five star, but the hotel definitely needs some improvement. read more

Stayed 7/20-7/21 on a trip back to CA. The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. The king bed was comfortable, clean and made. The bathroom was clean and stocked with enough towels and soaps etc. You do hear a little freeway noise but nothing that would wake you up. read more

Walked in and sign said pool out of order. Came to the room and latch on window broken. No one to fix it so the jammed a stick to keep it shut. Room is good size. Also, I forgot we stayed in one on our trip out West. They have cheap, cheap, cheap pillows. The pillows shrink and they fold them to make them square . Employees were friendly. Hotel is very clean, and in a good location. We've stayed in hotels across the country but two members of the staff, Felicia and a man working the front desk with her, are some of the rudest people we've ever dealt with. The man working the front desk actually screamed at us for getting piece of toast and a yogurt from the mini fridge, because breakfast started at 6 AM and it was 5:57. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal to wait, but we had someone picking us up and were in a hurry. Any other hotel I've stayed in has allowed us to start at whatever time we get down stairs and just told us they may not have everything out, but are welcome to have anything that's already been set out. DO NOT BOOK HERE We booked online on Booking.com whilst on a road trip from California to Colorado. During the trip, our tire blew up and left us stranded on the side of the highway for hours. Exhausted and driving in unsafe windy conditions, we realized it would not be safe or reasonable to drive all the way to Gallup in this time frame. Well, while booking.com agreed this constituted as a reason for a cancellation/refund, the greedy manager at this establishment did not. He refused us a cancellation, forcing us to either make the drive late at night in unsafe conditions or lose out on the money we paid for the suite. Do better Comfort Suites. Learn good customer service practices and overall be better human beings. read more

I cannot give this hotel a good review because today when you can't even take a bath or brush your teeth in a hotel room because the water is brown, evidently due to them working on the local water I can't give a good review to this place because they're taking away one of my fundamental needs in a hotel room. My daughter stayed in Gallup and has complained of the same thing I just found out I think for $169 a night. I should get a discount for the inconvenience and not being told this to begin with. They need new mattresses because the one we had was worn out. Could not rest comfortably. The couch was to low to get up from. My husband Laid on the couch and was miserable. My side of the bed was not too bad so I let him have the side I was on. He as able to finally get some sleep. I got on the side he was on and it was hard to sleep there. We stopped here on the way from Oklahoma to the Grand Canyon after several days of camping in NM. More than anything, we were looking forward to clean, hot showers, which we definitely found here. Our room was adequate, although it looked like there had been water leaking down the corner, which damaged the paint, which was peeling. The beds were comfy and the room clean. I was definitely underwhelmed by breakfast. The only hot food options were packets of oatmeal you could make yourself and tiny pre-packaged cheese omelets you could remove from the fridge and microwave. There was no cereal, no waffles, no buffet of hot food. No fresh fruit. There were also no cold drinks of any kind. The juice machine was out of commission, which happens, but nothing was offered in its place. I asked the front desk and she said they were just out. No little juice bottles, no milk cartons. Not even a pitcher of room temperature water. What were my kids supposed to drink with their breakfast? Lame. read more

Stayed here for a hot air balloon ride in red rock park. Staff was friendly and accommodating. They gave us a late checkout so we could come back after our hot air balloon. The breakfast is also nice with brown bags to go. We were a little disappointed when they cleaned our room and didn't take the trash out. The beds were super comfy and the sheets soft. The heating unit wouldn't turn off though even in off mode, the was a loud squealing from the elevators, and a sulfur smell all on the third floor. We asked and they said this happens when the elevator is used a lot and offered to move our room. We stayed because you couldn't smell it in the room. read more

The suite was large, clean, and well-appointed. Location was fabulous. The breakfast buffet looked pretty good, though there were no vegan offerings and the coffee was completely out (save for the decaf) so I felt kind of cheated in that regard. The only reason this got 2 stars was because the hotel itself was steeping with some really amazing history. Its a Purple Heart Memorial. The staff there lack any kind of personality or give you any kind of warm welcome upon arrival. In fact, she welcomed me and then immediately barked out they were NOT checking anyone in before 3:00pm. The house keeping staff was late and room(s) weren't ready. That's a first. When looking for a hotel that was "Pet Friendly" on our road trip, Comfort Suites in Gallup, NM came up. I booked through Travelocity and indicated that I had an 18 pound dog. When we arrived the reservation was ready and they confirmed we did bring our dog. The pet fee for her was $15 a night. Very reasonable. The suite was roomy and clean. The only reason 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because we moved an upholstered chair to better see the tv and there was a Xanax pill under it from a previous guest. (I looked up the description of the pill and that is how I knew what drug it was.) As anyone with a dog knows they sniff around and will try to eat or taste almost everything. This probably wouldn't have been good for our dog. I just mentioned to the front desk staff member that maybe housekeeping might look under the chairs. I am sure this is just a random thing. The breakfast in the morning was decent. Lots of choices. Hot items were, Belgium Waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage and what looked like some kind of soup. All the normal pastries, bagels, fruits and cereals. Our total bill for the night came to just over $80. Not bad! If we drive through her again we will definitely stay at the Comfort Suites. read more

The staff are so nice and welcoming, which is a plus, but the most important thing, the room, was very clean. We like the hotel because it's pet friendly, conveniently located and very supportive of service persons. The tributes throughout the lobby are impressive. We've stayed twice now in the past week. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the free breakfast is decent as well. That being said, the hotel staff are by far the most unfriendly people we've ever come across, to the point of almost rude. No hello, no thank you, no smiles. They act as if they could care less if you're there or not. We thought maybe the first time was a fluke but after this second visit it's clear that the culture is not one of guest relations. There are plenty of pet friendly hotels in the area to choose from. Next time we'll check them out instead. This is a good property, with nice clean rooms rooms with a decent continental breakfast. The issue I have is with the very unfriendly staff. We stayed here just over a week ago driving out to Texas; we picked the property because it's dog friendly. As we were driving away I said to my wife did you notice nobody smiled, said hi or how was your stay. We chalked it up to a bad day. So driving back we stayed at the property again, with it being dog friendly, location, nice rooms and a good breakfast. Boy, it was not a bad day just an unfriendly place. The lady's working the desk no smiles, how are you doing, hope your enjoying your stay, nothing from them and don't dare ask a question. I ended up at this hotel due to a deer on vehicle with a friend while offroading. We found this hotel very late at night by accident but the misfortune turned into an outstanding experience. Both of us are military veterans and noticed the lobby is pretty much a museum of United States Medal of Honor receipients. In the morning, we were approached by the General Manager Ken Riege who gave us a personal tour to include the facinating story of the Navajo Code Talkers. Being Marines, we were delighted to listen to Kens facinating stories of these gentlemen, many of whom he has had personal interaction with. The United States Marine Corps holds ALL of these Code Talkers in high regard. This Museum has many irreplacable artifacts attesting to their bravery and loyalty to this country. All the displays are tastleful and enlightening. Ken and his staff are oustanding and run a great hotel. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff on duty that night and morning were oustanding. You sir (and the staff) turned a misfortune into a great experience. Glad we stopped and you should too! read more

Stayed the night here and the beds were comfy and close to the casino. But the lobby had a funky smell as well as the room ummm like potatoes? The lady wasn't that bad didn't say hi or thank you or didn't make eye contact "do you have reservations?" And explained things fast "have a good night". WiFi sucked for sure so stopped using it after 10mins. But I wouldn't call it a suite and pay for a suite. Try the other hotels maybe? We had a great stay !! Reasonable prices especially with President Day discount. The room is amazing!! A Queen bed with a pull out couch and every amenities needed for nice stay. But the best part ( for me) was the lobby and and the show casing of American war heroes men and women. They especially took notice of the Navajo Code Talkers and the sacrifices they had for the country they love so much !! If it wasn't for the Code Talkers the US would never have beaten the Japanese. New hotel, Beautiful king-size suite with the sitting area fridge, microwave all the comforts of home.

This location has always been a "Go To" - however, The rooms are very nice and the breakfast is more than adequate. The biggest issue is the low quality air conditioner units. You need a unit for the rooms that face the trains to have a "fan only" option. (Because - Gallup) Some units there do - some don't - and some rooms have really unreliable units that won't work unless you set the room to "freeze" I have had a time or two that the unit would not work at all. So, if you ask directly to the desk for reservations - for a room with a "constant fan" unit and are assured you will get it - - don't give them whatever room is left with a crummy intermittent noisy unit. It tarnishes an otherwise fine hotel. read more

After driving for hours I arrived at comfort suites, I wanted to pay my room with cash and put a card on file for any other expenses. The woman at the desk said they would have to authorized the full amount before they could take cash. I said I didn't understand I have never had a problem in the past with major hotel companies doing the same method. She replied back rudely " that just the way we do things" I told her that ridiculous and she said "sorry" in a condescending manner. Wow! read more
