The care was acceptable until we were dealing with the nurse Marcelle Turner. She told everyone she was a nurse but she was only an LVN. This is our story, what happened with us. Maybe you will have a better experience. Just please pray you don't get Marcelle Turner assigned to you!

Jackie and Brandi gave a complete and honest consultation over a month ago; since then, all promises and assurances have proven 100% accurate. We have two different caregivers over the course of a week. Both show up on time, are polite, competent, easy to work with, and a do exactly what we need. Additionally, both caregivers show a clear concern for the wellbeing of my family member--it is very real and very obvious. This kindness gives great comfort. Also, I really appreciate the effort on the front-end to set realistic expectations and to find the right caregivers for us. All in all, this experience has been a home run. I do not hesitate to recommend Jackie, Brandi, Savannah, and Care for SoCal. This is an easy five stars--I would give 100 if I could :)

My family used Caring Companions when my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We knew…read moredad's time here with us would be limited and we would need a caregiver sooner rather than later. Caring Companions sent over a caregiver to our house right away when my father's health quickly deteriorated. Our caregiver was loving and compassionate. He was able to communicate with us regarding our dad's health and what was needed to keep him comfortable in his final days. Eddie (our caregiver) worked well with the hospice team and helped us manage our dad's pain. This was extremely important to us and he made sure it was under control the whole time. Working with Deanna and Mary was a pleasure. They were easy to work with and efficient. They showed our family love and empathy during a difficult time. Without them and their staff, I don't know how our family would have survived such a difficult time. I would recommend their services to anyone. I cannot say enough about their professionalism and helpfulness.

3 years ago after my dad suddenly and unexpectedly passed away, my mom wanted to continue to live…read moreat home in the house her and my dad bought and lived in for over 40 years. While my dad was alive, they were able to live on their own alone as they kind of had complementary health issues where together as a team they could manage on their own. Her and my dad were married over 60 years and the loss of my dad left her feeling very alone and empty inside and there were things my mom knew she could no longer manage on her own every day. I have a full time job and 3 sons, so I was not able to be there to help her out during the day with getting to appointments, making sure she is eating well, keeping the house picked up, and providing some companionship during the day, which were her initial needs. My brother and sister live out of state, but we talked and agreed that we would share in the cost of bringing in a part time caregiver for Mom. I talked to some of my friends who use caregivers for their parents and was not able to get a good reference, so I went on line and found 3 in-home care agencies in my area to interview and compare services and prices. After talking to all 3 agencies, I decided to go with Caring Companions Referral Agency. I spoke with Melissa, who is the owner, and she immediately made me feel at ease. She clearly explained the entire process to me and I liked the fact that her and her husband own and run the agency. I also found that Melissa was able to offer me the lowest rate out of the 3 agencies I called, and that was certainly a factor in my decision as well along with my brother and sister. Initially I started my Mom with 4 hours per day Monday through Friday, and then I was able to personally cover the weekends. Recently this past year however, I had to increase my Mom's hours to 8 hours per day Monday through Friday because it is getting harder and more risky for my mom to get around on her own and do some of the personal hygiene things on her own like bathing and grooming as she is now 92, but she is still as sharp as a nail! Whenever Mom's caretaker is going to be on vacation or is sick, Melissa has always been able to find a capable replacement to cover. I am very happy with the service I receive from Caring Companions Referral Agency, but most importantly my mom is happy she gets to continue to stay at home and has developed a very nice bond with her caregiver. I have recommended Caring Companions Referral Agency to a couple of my friends in the past 3 years, and they also signed up with them for Caregiving services. I fully recommend Caring Companions Referral Agency if you or a loved one requires in-home care Sincerely Lisset

Suddenly my husband was admitted into the hospital for an emergency procedure. Just as suddenly he was to be discharged -- unable to do anything unassisted. No way was I having him to go a nursing home; but how was I going to get him into the car or into the house when I got home? How was I going to care for him when we got home? I called Scott. Within an hour he had everything set up. Someone would be at the hospital to transfer my husband in and out of car and to help when we got home. Can you imagine my relief??? As it turned out, my husband was held for another day and, surprisingly, was able to walk with a walker. Within a short time, however, we did need help in house. Scott has been terrific working with us and my crazy schedule. The woman that Gabby sent to care for my 90-year-old father was off her rocker and had to be removed from my parent's home. Gabby was as shocked as I was because she had used her for other assignments and had never gotten any complaints. Also the woman apparently had good reviews online and had a lot of hospital experience. But bad people can slip through the cracks in any business, especially when they're being hired on a contract-type basis. My caution to anyone using any agency or hiring a private caregiver is to do your due diligence. Do not hire an agency and walk away feeling secure that your loved ones will be well taken care of. Had I not been watching on the camera to make sure that my parents were safe, they would have been traumatized by this woman being in their home all night. Even after getting her to leave, my mom who has Alzheimer's, was terrified that she would be coming back despite me ensuring her that she wasn't. Anyone who is doing long distance care of loved ones living at home, I recommend if you don't have them already, get cameras installed and diligently watch them, especially when a new person comes to the home whether they're from a private hire or an agency. This will ensure that your loved ones are safe and well taken care of.
