It wasn't the morphine because again all by ourselves we were trying to do that correctly I can't recall what it was and by then it was too late. It was the most horrible experience. My mother knew she couldn't breathe. She knew it! I'll never forget it and the visions stay in my mind along with my brother and my sister.

The e-bills come from a random email address that looks like a scam, and when you log onto their website you are informed that there is a $6 fee PER TRANSACTION to pay online (I have an employer-provided HSA debit card and use that). If you want to pay over the phone, or even check to make sure the bill is valid forget it. They do not pick up the phone when you call, the voicemail even says they don't - they will call back within 2 business days. If you give them your work hours they will make sure they call while you're at work, so they don't have to talk to you. I am now forced to rely on my health insurance statement to reconcile these bills since, as another poster pointed out, they don't itemize their bills. Only tell you the penalties if you don't pay up. This company's lack of transparency, and inadequate customer support considering they bill monthly, is not good.

The main problems are that they send the wrong supplies - and I mean ALL the supplies are incorrect. You can rarely get them on the phone - when you do they are always rude. When you leave messages - no one calls back. Every month or so I'd receive a VM from them threatening to send me to collections because of "insurance problems." Every time I'd call back I'd be told that the "problem was resolved" and I "shouldn't worry." Fast forward to January 2024 and I have now received a collections letter for over $1400. Turns out, that after one year of no services - BJC home health care NEVER figured out how to bill my insurance company. The $1400 is some kind of random amount that was sent without me receiving any services or supplies. Nor did I ever receive a statement. Just a letter from a collections company. Stay away from this company at all costs! It is a terrible home health company.

Between other family members I have probably been to at least two dozen area senior care centers (from alright to not acceptable). None of them come close to the care our mother has received here. I called many other facilities that had a continuum of care and they all said that our mother would be skilled nursing (because she requires help transferring and dressing) which would be $6,000+ per month for a shared one room. St. Agnes said they thought they could get her to improve and be more independent and they were right. Here she has her own studio apartment. They are genuinely concerned about all aspects (physical, mental and spiritual) of our mother's wellbeing. She has been here only a month and we have already seen a physical and mental improvement in her. The nuns are very compassionate and coordinate every aspect of her care.

We learned at 1:00 p.m. that we needed care for our Mother that same night. We called Home Care Assist at 1:00 and they met with us at 3:00 the same day. They were able to have a night care giver that same night. After that, our Mother had the same care giver every night, Monday through Friday. Different care givers came on the weekends. They were very dependable and punctual with their service. If there were any changes in the schedule the company communicated well with us. We would feel very comfortable recommending the services of this company to anyone who needs assistance.

What I observed at Dolan is reason for my reviewing. Some of Dolan staff at her house were lovely, but a lot were not. The turnover of staff very concerning, over 30 workers left within my moms short time. The head RNs that ran the house as well. There is a huge lack of training for dementia, huge lack of engagement with clients, a lot of TV time as well. The music people that come in 1-2x a week are excellent and probably best part and the girl who came maybe 1x a week for a craft was lovely and engaging. But the personal care I'd give a zero to. I told management, Steve and Tim Dolan these negatives I saw, numerous times I was visiting and there was NEVER any follow up or changes. Saw the same lack of engagement every visit, weekends being the worst. Beware before you sign your family member up. I think all houses may be different. I'd recommend talking to other families before you sign up, not families that Steve or Tim recommend , but random families. Stop in unannounced see what is really going on,. Beware there is only 1 staff person on duty at house for 12 hours alone with 10 elderly people. They also expect the caregivers to cook and clean WHILE they are supposed to be engaging with your loved ones which I found odd. I was there too many times where 5-6 people lined up in front of TV and the 2 person staff not to be seen. It s difficult job, but please do your homework on the Dolan house your family member will be living before you move them there.
