So for months I've been thinking about moving away from Desert Financial because I have been less…read morethan satisfied with the overall service I get there plus I've always struggled with dealing with them for anything other than straight banking. So I did some research to find "the best credit union in Arizona" and after everything I've seen, OneAZ topped most lists. So I finally had the time and took the time to stop in to this branch. Well I walked in and, being in the service industry, the first thing I noticed was that most of the lights (all of the lights in the actual lobby and customer area) were off. Now I don't know about anyone else, but the impression I get when I see that is a place that is broke. And don't come at me with the whole "saving electricity" crap because I believe the fixtures were LED and you can run LED's with a piece of fruit. So then I noticed there were, I wanna say, 8 windows? But all but one of the windows were void of CSR's and only one person was helping people. Now I'm standing there at 1:45 in the afternoon on a Thursday waiting on this one CSR when another customer arrived. Now I get it, I legitimately waited between 5 and 10 minutes, which doesn't seem like a lot, but when it's taken me about a month since my decision to even find any time to get in there? 5 to 10 minutes is a long time. I only even saw one other employee in the bank at all and she was in a little office on the phone. I decided I didn't want to take a chance that if I ever needed help, I would be placed on hold standing in the lobby so I turned and headed to the door. The CSR that WAS working must have finished with the person he was working with because he yelled to me as I was hitting the door that he could help me now. Needless to say, I just kept walking and also needless to say, I guess my search continues to find a new financial institute. Or maybe I just stay at Desert Financial because they seem to be the lesser of two evils.

Of the $300 I had, the ATM only took ONE of my 3 bills. I tried multiple times to deposit the cash, but kept getting the same error message: "Inserted cash is either invalid or exceed the permissible number of cash limit. Please verify and re-insert your cash." I even tried using the other ATM, but it did the same thing. It kept spitting out my $200. So I tried depositing one bill at a time, and when that didn't work, I flipped the bill over and it STILL didn't work. SMH!!! I was frustrated because I get off work at 5 and they close at 5, so I had to go into the branch on a Saturday to deposit the last 200 of the original 425 that I had. What a headache!! I was hoping there wasn't going to be a crazy line since it's payday weekend, but time my surprise, there was only one person ahead of me. Van helped me with my transaction and she was super friendly. We were chatting about my disappointment in their ATMs as well as the Mesa location's ATMs. She apologized for them not working properly, and finished my deposit for me. Thank you Van, and NFCU for being open until 2 pm on Saturdays so that people like me can get our business done! Btw, both ATMs were not working today during my visit around 1 pm.
