Best comedy club hands down I've been to thus far in Vegas. I've been here about 6 times and not once have I been disappointed. Every time a friend comes to town, this place is a MUST visit!! Variety of comedians each and every time the host Mark Cohen has great energy and keeps the crowd engaged and has good jokes of his own. Waitresses come around and take your drink and food orders but, you should grab a drink or 2 on your way in so you don't have to wait :-) The Rio isn't the best hotel, but, the Comedy Cellar is legit! You are definitely missing put if you don't come to see a show. read more

Cool place to get your funny on! Not too bad of a club, overall. Our party of 3 enjoyed the show and liked the venue better than we expected. It is the Rio, after all! It was too warm in the room when we first sat down, which was about 10 minutes or so before show time of 9 pm. It cooled down after the show started. I was a little apprehensive about 4 comics performing, and thought it might drag on. That wasn't the case, the show actually flowed pretty well. Drinks are priced pretty much appropriately for this kind of venue. My glass of wine ($9) was served in a large plastic cup, and was more than half full. Food is available also, which is surprising for a comedy club! There is a bar area outside the main seating area, which has some cocktail tables. It appears that could be used as a reception area. We went on a Sunday night, and there weren't too many empty seats. The cellar is a great addition to the Rio and definitely a reason to go there! read more

Great place if you like comedy clubs that are exactly the same as every other comedy club. Host comes on and tells a few jokes to "warm up the crowd". Introduces comedian #1. Comedian #1 comes on for ~20 minutes and is mediocre to great (at times either one). Host comes back out for a few more jokes and introduces comedian #2. Rinse and repeat 3-4 times. The three comedians I saw were not fantastic but they all had their moments. The service was good, pretty much as expected. I got the nachos because I really really wanted to finally eat something healthy (that's a joke). They were pretty good. The venue itself is pretty small. The stage is really small; I was surprised that nobody on-stage kicked anyone in the front row. But the front row folks seems to be having a good time. 4 stars because it just doesn't deserve 3 stars, but definitely not 5. Will I go there again next time I'm in town? Most likely not; I'll probably try one of the may other comedy clubs in Vegas. But I am glad that I tried this one once. read more

The staff literally ruined the entire thing. The older man with the metal detector was very disrespectful, and the large African American security guard was in such a bad mood and was intentionally trying to get a rise out of people so he could kick them out before the show even started. Who doesn't love a good laugh? I mean really, if you don't like to laugh just go live alone in a swamp somewhere and let the rest of us enjoy great places like the comedy cellar! It's modeled after the world famous Comedy Celllar in NYC, and totally possible to catch one of the famous NYC comedians here on rotation. On any given night in this great city, you can get a 4 comedian line up mix of locals and headliners. There is tableservice, with fun cocktails and a few beers, Some light bites and pretty fast waitresses. If you get sat near the front, you might get heckled by the comedians. Best part of the show. It's also nice that there is not a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are great no matter where you are. Fun little locals tip, if you park in the parking garage on the strip side, drive up all the way to the roof. That way when you get out of the show you can have a wonderful beautiful strip view as you leave. It's just magical! read more

This was the highlight of our trip!!! We wanted to see a show, either magic or comedy and we are so happy we chose this show! We got our tickets on the strip at a "half off tickets" booth. They have a couple on the strip which is really convenient. They ask you to be there an hour prior to show, but the way the strip and traffic is set up, it's almost impossible lol. We got there about 40 minutes prior, stopped at the box office to get our tickets, and once we got to the Comedy Cellar, there was no line! Our seats were great and the atmosphere was welcoming. As you waited for the show to start, they had AFV's playing and you could order drinks or food while you wait. The 5 comedians were HILARIOUS!!!! We laughed until we had tears in our eyes. Was in Vegas and wanted to find something else to do so we bought tickets here because they were reasonable and we had already lost enough gambling. Not a back place reminds me of our comedy club here in Indianapolis....when we arrived we were told when the doors would open so we came back, by this time it was approximately 5 people in the place,take it the place wasn't that big so I understood why they only had one lady server. But I must say she never came to our table once...4 men came and sat on the other side of us closer to the stage and she came to them twice. People all around us she came to...then I notice a trend in the whole place it was 6 blacks and yes I was one and she only asked the one girl that was sitting right by the stage in the reserved area if she wanted a drink. Me and my girlfriend walked out to the bar and for two drinks it was $39. Maybe she thought we were not going to order or either afford the drink. The girl that sat behind me I asked if she ever asked her if she wanted a drink? She said no she thought it was only for people in reserved.....NO...she should have asked everyone, even when our glasses were empty she walked past looked at us, stopped cause she thought we said something, kept going and asked the people next to us if they wanted something else. The only other thing I didn't like....I went to the bathroom and why were there some thongs on the floor? Now...as far as the comedy goes I really enjoyed all of them... especially the Asian black but the last girl...she need to really change up using the N word.... Hilarious! Nina B had a few tickets to the comedy cellar so we checked it out. We got there around 6:50PM the show started around 7PM-with another show at 9PM. We were lead to the room which was about a small-medium size room for a comedy show. They had some funny videos playing before the show started. They had a fair selection of food and drinks available. The staff was friendly and attentive. We got seated pretty close to the front, definitely visible to the comics. They had four acts and a host. The intro was perfect to get the crowd going. We enjoyed each comic on this Sunday evening. I have been to only two other comedy clubs-one being in Dallas and the other here in Vegas. I would say this has made it to the top of my list. Now I dont know what types of comics typically come out but the four this evening was fantastic. They truly had a different approach to their comedy. I could tell that each one was really working with the audience; they tried to gauge the type of audience and saw who they can tease. Luckily, there was a friendly Danish couple in the front hat seemed to be the major talking point that evening. What: Comedy club located in The Rio. There were 4 comedians plus a host that introduced each one. The comedians were: Gregg Roggell, Julian McCullough, Jackie Fabulous and Jeff Leach. Each one got progressively better as is usually the case. I really enjoyed Jackie and Jeff. There were some serious belly laughs. Show lasted about 1.5 hours with no intermission. Kinda reminded me of Rooster T. Feathers in Sunnyvale, CA. Ambiance: Cool vibe - feels like you are in a New York basement lined with red bricks and dim lights. Comedians were great but even though my two guests and I were in the VIP section, we were never asked if we wanted drinks. They came around to the people around us, coming back to take 3rd orders from the seats around us, but would almost run past our table. When I finally got someone's attention and asked for just a cup of water, I was told that it was last call and they were just closing out tabs now. I understand last call but not even a water? I don't know why we were treated like pariahs! We were seated next to the loudest person there so maybe that was the reason? Since the comedy is dependent on the comedians, who change all the time, this review will be focused on the club itself and the one item of food we tried. I've been to the Comedy Cellar in NYC so many times that I was excited to try out the location in Vegas. Tickets are much more expensive and are offered in three tiers - VIP (front rows and front section), Preferred (right behind VIP), and General Admission. We purchased preferred seats and because the show wasn't sold out (even though online the show was designated as sold out), the ushers were accommodating and allowed us to move a few tables over so that we could comfortably see the stage. The front tables are right on the small stage, so keep that in mind if you like/don't like that. The club feels about three times the size of the one in NYC and it's in the RIO, which is off-strip and a bit depressing if you usually spend most of your time on the strip. I would suggest eating ahead of time. We didn't and were hungry and ordered the sausage flatbread. It was generous on the "sausage" which appeared to be hotdogs cut how one would cut them for a small child. It was not good. The service was good and Joe Machi was the best comedian we saw. He was hilarious. If you order your tickets ahead of time, I suggest getting there a bit earlier than you might expect because you have to pick up the tickets at the Box Office. When we were there, there was only one person working the counter and it took a really long time. Go for the comedy if there is a comedian you want to see, but eat ahead of time! read more

I love the Comedy Cellar in NYC so I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of the Vegas club. I jumped at the chance to go opening night. The location in the Rio is the same room where Eddie Griffin used to play but you would never recognize it. They did a great job recreating the feel of the original Comedy Cellar. Nothing is going to be the original, especially in a casino in Las Vegas but they really make you forget where you are for a bit. Each show is a host and 4 comedians. All 4 comedians were great. They each do about 15-20 min which is perfect because you are getting their best stuff. All seating is general admission. There are 3 sections VIP GA- which is right up front. Don't sit here if you don't want to be called out or asked questions. Preferred GA- this is the middle section. GA- This is the furthest back section. It is a small room so really anywhere you sit will be ok. We sat in preferred section and had great seats. It is all tables so there is always a chance that someone could be blocking you but we didn't have that problem. I would recommend getting there early. Doors opened at 6:30 for our 7pm show. Our show got out late so we were leaving right around 9 when the next show was supposed to start. I'm sure that was just a first night kinks thing. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars for me is that there were no cocktail waitresses. At least not in my section. It's Vegas we like to drink. One woman came over to ask if we wanted food, we declined as we had just ate but said we would like a drink. She said the cocktail waitress would be over shortly to take our order but no one ever came. There is a bar in the front when you walk in, but being general admission we wanted to get to our seats. When we were told a cocktail waitress was coming we didn't see a reason to go to the bar. Once the show started we didn't want to get up and miss any of the show. We actively looked for a cocktail waitress and couldn't find anyone. I am sure this will be rectified in the future. Just in case I would recommend getting there early, getting your seat and then go to the bar. That's what I will be doing next time. As Vegas locals, we have visited nearly every comedy club in town. Comedy Cellar was by far the best we've seen in town! If you want a guaranteed laugh, this is the place. Instead of a few 5 minute openers and then a half hour headliner, they give you 4-5 headliner quality acts. Each comedian is top notch and performs for about 15-20 minutes. Every single comedian was hilarious. That is rare. The only downside is if you are one that likes to see new and emerging comics as they struggle and practice their sets. If that's your preference, then this is NOT the place for you. There are a number of great places in town for that! And sometimes that is what we are in the mood for. But if you are looking for one comedy club to visit during your trip to Vegas, then this is the one. Average prices for drinks in any Vegas casino. But not the best deal on drinks I've seen in a Vegas comedy club. read more

Unless there is a comic youyou're familiar with, comedy clubs can be a total crapshoot. This was a spur of the moment decision, and a very good one at that. I don't think you need to be in a front row or expensive seat, the venue is intimate enough that you are in great shape, no matter where you sit. On this particular night there were five comics instead of four, and all were really good. This was a Friday night, and I don't know if the host changes or not. Ours was fantastic. The drinks are no more expensive than every other place in Las Vegas. Be prepared to be wanded and have your bag checked as security seemed a bit over the top given the amount of people walking around Vegas in general! I've been to Comedy Cellar at the Rio 4 times this year, and I'll be back for more. Bottom line, I always end up laughing and having a great time. There's a host, plus 4 comedians, about 1.5 hour long show. The performers rotate every week or so, and the lineup is diverse, you'll get some big names and new talent. In Rio so you got free parking if you have a car. America's Funniest video in the beginning while you wait. Got space between other viewers unlike many other comedy clubs. Stadium seating so your view doesn't get blocked. Host was as funny as the actual acts so it kept the show going. Drink was strong and great. The comedians all went on TV before and all got different styles so it was good and refreshing between acts and kept us laughing the whole time. My boyfriend brought me here tonight for my birthday and we were not disappointed! There were a total of 4 comics(5 if you count the host). Everyone had a lot of jokes the were relatable and made for an amazing night as we cold not stop laughing. The venue does have a bar and a kitchen just before you get seated. If you are looking for beer, I recommend getting the pitcher because you save a bit of money rather than buying by the glass full. Purchased 6 tickets for 9:30 PM comedy show. Was told they serve beverages and food. We all entered with our COVID masks on and purchased 6 drinks and 4 waters. We were seated and began consuming our beverages and were immediately approached by this security guy asking us to keep our masks on. We at first thought he was joking as we just sat down and were simply trying to drink the $138 of beverages we purchased moments ago. He was so upset and said we could just leave. Totally unacceptable and rude. He said it was mandatory that we recover our mouth after every sip. No exceptions!!!! Totally insane policy when you're pedaling expensive drinks lol. read more

Reminiscent of the real NYC Comedy Cellar but most of the comedians were a bit older and cornier. Nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either. Due to Covid or a lack of staff there is no food or table service so get there early enough to get a drink at the bar on the way in. On the good side there is no two drink minimum so if you bought a ticket you don't need to pay a bill at the end of the night. I have been here four times and have never experienced a bad show although one was definitely less funny than the other three. The tickets are cheap, the entertainment is varied, the venue is intimate and a copy of the original in New York. When there, you really feel like you are somewhere else. If you can afford it, get the tickets right up front and you'll surely become part of the show and the jokes! Each show presents on average four comedians, five is you count the MC which I certainly do. Each act is unique and although the majority of comedians I have never heard of, there have definitely been a few that I have known. This is a show that you can go to every week or two and always see something different because the comedians are rotating. Definitely a great show! read more
