Apparently a lot of restaurants have closed in Martinsville than anyone thinks... that or Friday at…read more8 pm isn't worth staying open for? Well, Awnie's was open and has great reviews, so I went for it. First impressions actually weren't that great. It's a narrow place, and old 30s-50s romantic music set the tone. As I looked at the menu, I noticed that one of the four orders at the next table over was wrong. They accepted it rather than send back, but I took note. Well, I took my chance and ordered spinach and cheese ravioli, based on the waitress saying it's both less food and more popular than the five cheese tortellini - good for my diet! I got it with a side salad to veg up, came with a nice homemade dressing and crispy (not soft) croutons. The ravioli's alfredo sauce has unmatchable homemade quality. This place cares about its food. Unfortunately, and the reason I'm taking off a star, is things seem a little aloof. We had that wrong order come out early. Then two people walked in about 10 minutes before closing and the hostess said "sorry, we're closed" and they walked back out... but apparently she got corrected, went back out after them, and brought them back in because the kitchen doesn't close until the restaurant does! I appreciate that they are willing to own their errors and do right by people, they just need to work on their consistency. And the atmosphere, but maybe that's just my opinion. Not a bad spot overall to have outlived its competition.

Chambers has been an occasional must for me for years. I eat fairly healthy at home. I don't know…read morehow to fry foods. I press napkins into pizza to absorb as much fat as possible because I think it's gross. However....my mom was an excellent home cook - healthy, well-rounded meals that included some fried, some bacon fat, pies & cobblers & shortcakes. Chambers is all of that. It fills not just my stomach but my soul. Good old home cooking -- fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans with bacon fat, homemade bread, pan desserts. All I can eat. The place is clean. The staff is friendly & keeps the glasses filled. I don't feel rushed like I'm a mere commodity like so many Indy restaurants. My only request is that they rent cots in the parking lot for food-coma recovery. But it's worth it to me.

Today I ordered the Filet Migon which comes in 3oz medallions, a Baked Potato, and a Salad. I also ordered a side or Mesquite Grilled Shrimp. The granddaughter ordered dessert. She chose the Ooey Gooey Brownie and took it home. After we got home, I was in the garage for about 5 minutes and when I walked into the house that dessert was gone. LOL

It's so massive that he broke it into pieces, stacked it, stuck it between the bread, and there was still a decent amount left to eat. All of that was below $10. What?! I had the mozzarella sticks with ranch which yes, there was a lovely cheese pull. I was uhm. Too excited to eat for a photo but just trust me. This place is cute and very simple but in a classic diner way. *not the diner with a bar you sit at, but more like the café style with square tables and chairs.

The menu has plenty of options, but we had to go for their signature tenderloin. We were excited to dig in. They offered an extra bun plus lettuce and tomato for an additional charge. If you're planning to split the sandwich, I highly recommend getting that second bun -- we were able to make two full sandwiches out of it. Just note that fries aren't included; they're an extra charge as well. We ordered some, but they arrived lukewarm, which was disappointing. The sandwich itself was tasty, though definitely heavier on breading than meat. Overall, it was a good experience and worth trying once, but we probably wouldn't return unless we happened to be passing through Edinburgh again.

She checked on us multiple times and kept us after glasses filled. Food came to the table quickly. We received 5-star service! I ordered the Country Ham Steak & Eggs. The eggs were light and tender. The ham was tasty. My only complaint was that the generous serving potatoes were overly salty for me. My husband had the popular Brown County Breakfast. He loved the generous portion of smokey bacon and the freshly made biscuit. (Order the biscuit!) The local eggs were cooked to perfection.
