They have music playing but it is subtle, adds nicely to the ambiance and is not too loud. The food was very good. We got there before happy hour so we were able to order a couple of glasses of decent house wines for $6.00 a glass and shared an appetizer of crispy chicken lettuce bites. For entrees my husband had an 8 oz. prime rib special. It was so good. cooked as he had requested it. One of the better prime ribs that we've tasted and it was only $30.00 as a Sunday special. I had the lamb loin that was also very good. Service was also very good. Our server, Stella was so busy but she checked on us regularly to ensure that we were well taken care of. It is so nice when you go to a restaurant and it exceeds your expectations. This has the vibe of a fine dining restaurant with the décor, the muted background music, the service and the food. Baked beans and toast remind me of family trips to England. Havn't gone for one of those in years, but I do have some good memories of them. When they're on sale here, we sometimes like to buy cans of Heinz British style baked beans, and I sometimes make my own homemade version of baked beans to store in our freezer. I don't often see baked beans on brunch menus so this was a bit of a special occasion for me to be able to order something with baked beans for brunch. Personally, I would have preferred the beans to have been just a little bit softer. Nothing wrong with them. They were fully cooked but perhaps just a little bit firmer than I'd have liked. I prefer my beans very soft and I tend to be like that with a lot of foods in general. My hubby prefers his foods firmer, and I like my foods softer. It's a personal preference. Otherwise, I very much enjoyed this dish and am very likely to order it again sometime! Oh, the potato rosti in my dish was awesome as well. Stepping into others' imprinted snow footsteps trying not to slip and fall onto the newly fallen snow, we made it into Cafe Crema in West Vancouver. The first thing with this place that gets you is the vibe. Mood lighting, lovely high tables and plenty of space. You can sit there, and daydreaming in this place is highly encouraged preferably with a glass of bold red and a slice of Margherita Pizza. I didn't really know what I wanted, which rarely happens, but this was one of those special occasions where you just let spontaneity take over. I was going to just have a coffee, but as I approached the register area to order my Americano, I kept seeing this glimmer in the corner of my eye. It was quite bright, but just a glimmer, so I looked over and it was just this muffin sitting there in the display. I asked the cashier what muffin that was, and I was told that it was the Vegan Banana Chocolate Muffin. "Vegan?" I asked. He said, "Yup." I almost walked away trying to find something else, but the damn thing looked so good. So, reluctantly I decided to try a Vegan Muffin. I said to myself, "well, what's the worst that could happen? I'll just throw it out if I don't like it." That winking-luring Vegan muffin was so good that it actually trumped many of the dairy based muffins I've had in the past. I'll tell you how and why. First, it was rich, creamy, dense, moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. You could taste the Cocoa and hint of Banana and nuts throughout. As much as all the ingredients together gave the muffin its wonderful taste, you could also taste each component individually. I don't have a sweet tooth at all, and it's rare to find me ordering desert or eating muffins. I ate this damn thing like I just discovered the taste of sweet for the first time. Between this awesome Vegan muffin, the great Americano and this cozy little lamp on the table and the beautiful glowing white snow on Bellevue Drive, this indeed was a memorable experience and a one time love affair with a Vegan Muffin. (No, I hadn't smoked anything that day.)
