My server was very friendly Emma. I also really liked the vibe, was hoping for more charge ports and lean in more on the cafe side with bar foods. I went in with the intention of studying and working while munching on happy hour food. It's a bit on the expensive side, but recently I heard they stopped serving dinner. Not sure if they still have these happy hour drinks and food.

This might be the most annoyed review on the site to get 4 stars. I had Combine as a spot to check out when I was slowly getting into my café phase. I finally dropped by recently with a friend. Truth be told, I was here for the Croissant Crawl. They had an interesting matcha croissant I wanted to try. I called the day before to make a pre-order given they only served 8 a day. Got my name down and was excited. Showed up the next day in the afternoon and said I was there for the matcha croissant. Not sure what happened but the one under my name was given to someone else. Alright, there's one cube croissant left and they asked if I would like it. I said sure let's do it! A few minutes later i was told they gave it to someone else. Somewhat annoyed but I guess things do happen. Ended up with a butter croissant and an iced matcha latte. The latte was fine but I would find out there was a bit too much milk in it for me. Croissant was great, buttery, and flaky. My friend enjoyed his London Fog and rice krispie square. Croissant shenanigans aside, I was cool with what Combine is serving. I'd like to come back and try this whole croissant cube at some point. It was also neat that they turn into a restaurant in the evening and that seems worth checking out. Thumbs up still for Combine the café

First off this cafe had hidden menu items which were popularized on TikTok. The Tiramisu latte is really good. The food items weren't amazing, but decent. The dessert items on the other hand were amazing. The Dubai chocolate stuffed croissant was delicious. Free birthday cake and free parking for 2 hours. But make sure you give them your license plate otherwise you will get a ticket.

I've been meaning to try this spot since it opened but had almost forgotten about it until just recently. I joined a work colleague for lunch and we both opted for soup and sandwiches. My choice was the Italian with Italian cured meat, whipped burrata, basil and arugula on focaccia bread. Let me tell you, it was so good! I love focaccia bread and this one did not disappoint. Soft and crunchy, with so much flavour! There was also a spread that tasted like fig jam, although not listed on the menu description. It added a nice touch of sweetness to offset the saltiness of the meat and bread. Their sandwiches are served with a side of potato chips, although it would've been nice to have an option for a different / healthier side like veggies or salad. I wouldn't mind a small up-charge for this. We both also had a bowl of their smoked salmon chowder which was delicious and beautifully presented. I would like to go back to check out more of their menu or even try some of their baked goods. Either way, I'll definitely return to have the Italian sandwich again.

Croissant cubes, mimosa flight - IG @bougiefoodieboi

This is a cute cafe in Surrey next to Holland Park where there was a festival that we were going to. We went with some friends for a late brunch and it was not too busy. They offer a variety of food from various cuisines to satiate mostly everyone, but none that are must trys. I got the croissant cube trio and tried the mimosa flight and Irish coffee and strawberry matcha latte. Honestly, everything was okay but kinda mediocre. The croissant cube trio was stale, not buttery or crunchy at all, indicative of it sitting too long. I did enjoy the Dubai chocolate flavor and the key lime pie flavors, but if you call it a croissant, it needs to be representative as such. Mimosas were okay, and the Irish coffee was a bit watery and bitter, not enough balance of sweet and creamy I would expect from the drink. Strawberry matcha latte was pretty solid though.

Came here for a quick lunch with an ex-coworker and got a chai latte and Italian sandwich to go. The chai latte was really great -- strong chai flavour and a good amount of sweetness. One of the better chais I've had lately. The Italian sandwich however was just okay. There was too much focaccia bread in ratio to the deli meat fillings. It was also a little too sweet for me as well. Service was okay. I think the cashier was new so there were some hiccups. Ambiance is really nice inside the cafe. A really nice spot to enjoy a good chai and do some work.

It is beautifully appointed It has nice high ceilings but there is still a warm welcoming feel. It's the staff. They are all so welcoming and treat you like they are genuinely happy to serve you. They have music playing but it is subtle, adds nicely to the ambiance and is not too loud. The food was very good. We got there before happy hour so we were able to order a couple of glasses of decent house wines for $6.00 a glass and shared an appetizer of crispy chicken lettuce bites. For entrees my husband had an 8 oz. prime rib special. It was so good. cooked as he had requested it. One of the better prime ribs that we've tasted and it was only $30.00 as a Sunday special. I had the lamb loin that was also very good. Service was also very good. Our server, Stella was so busy but she checked on us regularly to ensure that we were well taken care of. It is so nice when you go to a restaurant and it exceeds your expectations. This has the vibe of a fine dining restaurant with the décor, the muted background music, the service and the food. The prices are very reasonable for what they offer. We highly recommend and we'll be back.

I didn't actually realize how close it was via transit as it is right at the Surrey Central building where the Surrey SFU campus is. I believe it is the old pub/liquor store that used to be there. It is very beautifully decorated inside for the holiday season and spacious. It looks like it could honestly be nice for corporate events or semi private gatherings like a birthday/retirement or just regular date night. Our server was very nice so no qualms there. The only thing that threw me off was that our table was seated next to a bit of a gap by a booth and servers kept going through that area "as a short cut", which was a little tight on my end instead of them going around our table. that being said it was relatively empty when we came in, so I was kind of hoping that we didn't have to sit so close to other guests when there were available tables elsewhere. We caught happy hour which was nice and I would recommend their prime rib slider. The lettuce chicken wraps were good but nothing to venture out solely for. We had asked if they could substitute tofu instead of the chicken but we weren't able to make any adjustments to the dish. Our waiter did mention that there is a prime rib special on Sundays and that sounds really good. He also recommended to call ahead and reserve as it can often be sold out the day of. The truffle Parmesan fries were great, we got the cheese on the side as my friend is vegan. She had a crispy tofu bowl and said it was good. I'd like to come back for their prime rib special with my family. Pay parking lot is right across from the restaurant by the skytrain. too bad the restaurant doesn't validate parking.

Made resos for 12:30 and were told we could only order brunch. I ordered the SHAKSHUKA (Two baked eggs, spiced tomato pepper sauce, feta, basil oil, parsley, cilantro, grilled sourdough) and a side of their breakfast potatoes! The potatoes are amazing!! Do not skimp on it! The Shakshuka was a pass. The tomato sauce was flavourless and watery. Chunky but no real flavour. The cilantro and parsley were long stems if it so not easy to eat. And to be honest, I didn't taste the cilantro. I don't know how but one of the eggs were undercooked which was icky. The feta was sheep feta which is not my fav. The grilled sourdough was great. The dish was below mid. Location is convenient and service was good, but the food was just ok.

The main bartender is way cool and accommodating. A strong staple to the whole vibe of the place. They have 1 girl working behind the pastries counter and only 2 servers in a packed restaurant. The pastry girl greeted us but the servers were so flustered that I had to flag them down to tell them I had a reservation. My first time here I loved the girly decor but this time all I saw were dirty dishes on the table. The servers looked stressed and one girl even dropped a tray full of glasses. There was a long wait to order, get our food, and get our bill. My friend ordered the pork belly eggs benny and it was as delicious as last time. I ordered the truffled mushroom frittata and it was nothing special. It was mostly overcooked eggs with mushrooms and a slice of toast that tasted plain. I told the server it was my friend's birthday and I wanted something special for her. Last time I ordered creme brûlée and they put sparklers on it and "happy birthday" with icing sugar. This time their dessert options were all brunch items: tiramisu French toast, chocolate French toast, hot cakes. None of them sounded appealing and they brought out vanilla ice cream in a small bowl and presentation was pathetic. This place has gone downhill, will not be returning.

The food had a twist of creativity in both the taste and the look, satisfying your palette and your camera. And just like in Australia, their coffee was good but super tiny. Our favorite dish was the peaches and cream hotcakes. Very refreshing. It also had some cream cheese, so it was sweet and savory. Their chicken on their waffle was very nice as well, but their waffle was a savory waffle. Which took away the pleasant combo of sweet and savory. But still very good. I would just order more friend chicken next time. well cooked, crispy pork belly too mmm. Price was decent as portions were generous. Service was friendly, and the food took a moderate food amount of time. We went at 2pm to eat brunch, so hoping that it wouldn't take longer during more peak hours. Parking is a bit of a hassle as it's underground parking. A bit of a trek to come to the restaurant, but I think that's the norm now in greater Vancouver area. Sadly the norm is also paid parking with no validation. But I won't dock off points for the restaurant for that Their menu rotates, so I would love to come back and try something new.

There were quite a few empty tables and the place felt pretty relaxed. I was doing a bit of work and ended up staying a little longer than the 90-minute table limit. One of the staff members came up to us and said, "Hey, you guys have been here longer than 90 minutes. You'll have to leave soon." I told him that was fine and asked if I could just finish my coffee. He said okay, but then about a minute later he came back with a to-go cup and said, "Here you go, you guys can leave now." Honestly, that caught me off guard. Especially since it wasn't busy and there were still plenty of open tables. During my first visit, Jimmy went above and beyond to make sure everything was great, and I don't think he would have handled it that way. The coffee is still great and I really like the space, but this experience definitely made me think twice about coming back.

During my last trip to Surrey, I made sure to stop by and fill up on caffeine and pastries. This location looks like an Apple Store from the outside with a modern glass exterior and minimalistic interior. From what my friends have told me, this location is much larger than their Downtown Vancouver location. Upon entering, the first thing I saw was Nemesis' vibrant colored boxes nicely lined up on a table next to the window for purchase in addition to merch (shirts, mugs, etc.) featuring their simplistic upside down blue heart logo. They switch out the coffee varieties on a regular basis, and so make sure to check their site first if you are looking for a certain bean! After perusing the merch, I made my way to the line and was captivated by the fancy high-end pastries in the glass counter. The company that makes the pastries is called Dope and they had everything from cookies to croissants to cakes and crullers. Prices were reasonable and I paid under $20 USD for four pastries. They had unique flavors including: strawberry & pistachio danish, tiramisu croissant, churro cruller, iced cap cruller, apple hojicha fritter, ube donut, and more. Like the Nemesis packaging, the Dope pastry boxes were art pieces on their own and probably the prettiest to-go boxes I've ever seen; they are a bright vibrant blue with their signature smile and tongue character logo and metallic writing. They literally look like designer shoe boxes. Nemesis features two seasonal drinks at a time, but they don't offer any flavored drinks otherwise and so if you're looking for a basic vanilla latte, this is not the place. The two seasonal drinks they were featuring in February were the Beet Root Latte and the Black Sesame Corn Latte (no coffee in this one though). Personally, neither quite appealed to me and so I just ordered a basic OAT MILK LATTE sweetened with simple syrup (you could alternatively get it sweetened with honey). The espresso was smooth and the oat milk was nice and creamy. To share with my family, I also ordered the... - APPLE HOJICHA FRITTER ($4.75 CAN) - as someone who doesn't normally like donuts, this fritter was the best fritter I've ever had and definitely on the not-to-sweet side. It was crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and full of apple pieces, apple spiced compote, and cinnamon. The hojicha dusting was subtle but added a nice slight earthiness to the pastry. I liked this pastry so much, I ended up ordering another one later on! - The ICED CAP CRULLER ($4.75 CAN) - this cruller was also fantastic and full of espresso flavor. The espresso cream filling and the condensed milk glaze were delicious and tasted like I was eating a Vietnamese coffee. 10/10 would get this again! - BROWN BUTTER BANANA CAKE ($5.75 CAN) - this cake was super moist and had a beautiful piping of cinnamon espresso buttercream on top. I'd say this one was the least unique of the pastries I ordered, but was a solid slice of banana bread and the buttercream was smooth and light. - CHOCOLATE ORANGE SUISSE ($7.50 CAN) - this pastry was the most interesting texture-wise as it has a crispy exterior that reminded me of chowmein noodles, wrapped around a croissant. The candied orange was very distinct and could be tasted in both the chocolate orange filling and the outside. While the most expensive of the pastries (probably because of the extra labor it takes for this one), I thoroughly enjoyed every bite and would order this one again too. The seating areas and bathrooms are clean. Service is excellent- we got our orders within 10 minutes after ordering and they come by to give you water and silverware as needed. TLDR, Nemesis is 1000% worth the stop and I can't wait to be back whenever I am in Surrey next. Overall, 5/5 for coffee and pastries, 5/5 for service, 5/5 for atmosphere
