His report was full of alternate findings (listing that he observed this, that, and/or the other) so we had no way of knowing what he actually saw. He complained that, among other things, our crawlspace had been used for storage, and our screens were missing (they were all in the basement, right next to the utilities that he photographed). He made several findings that were completely and objectively without evidence. For example, he apparently mistook some grit/small rocks under our jetted tub for mouse droppings and alleged we had a mouse. This mistake could only have been made by a total lack of care.

John answered his phone on my first call and stopped by my home within a few hours for a free consultation/inspection. While my request wasn't urgent I truly appreciate his responsiveness and timeliness. Good news! The stucco front is in great shape with only one small surface crack which we can easily repair ourselves with stucco putty. He pointed out a few small gaps between our windows and wood frames and made the suggestion to fill those in with caulking to avoid potential water leakage when it rains. That was nice friendly advice and again, something we can do ourselves or hire a basic handy person. JVP could have easily tried to take advantage of what probably could be perceived as a naive person (although I would never let that happen...have another company scheduled to do the same inspection) but instead was honest, professional and really informative. I know home repair reviews aren't the most exciting to read, but Yelp is my first go to place for everything. I want to make sure JVP gets the credit and consideration it deserves.

We love our new kitchen! He was patient and explained all of our options in detail to help us make the best decision, rather than guessing what we want. This helped us to find the right balance of value, saving money, and spending more on customizations only where we needed it. From start to finish, Jianshen and team exceeded our expectations. First, we received multiple 3D renderings reflecting possible configurations. Then we were able to go back and forth with the team to customize as needed. Our space is a bit weird (uneven walls and floors, small space, awkward location of pipes and windows). This project required incredible attention to detail, and Jianshen and team delivered it, visiting our house multiple times to make sure the measurements were right. When it came time for installation, his team was highly skilled and able to make on-the-spot customizations with us to make everything fit perfectly and exactly how we had wanted it. I think what I really want to convey here is not only the fact that the work was done at the highest level of quality and attention to detail, but it was also a pleasure to work with Jianshen and team. Jianshen has a positive, can-do attitude. If you have a unique idea, you can bring it to him and he will likely find a way (and also give you all the details on what the solution will entail). For example, we wanted to restore our 1890s butler pantry - he figured out how to restore some of the original fittings so that the 125+ year old things work like new. We had done a lot of research and consulted multiple experts on this - only Jianshen figured out how to make it work! Jianshen is also incredibly knowledgeable about renovations in general, and we have asked his advice on multiple things beyond cabinets. He is very responsive in communication and hard working. From the get-go, I had a good gut feeling just talking with Bill. We just "clicked". He was professional, courteous and took the extra step to drive by my home ahead of time so he could bring out samples of shingles in colors I might like. I appreciated that. I liked that Ascent was local. Being a Navy brat, I appreciate the company is owned/operated by vets. Bill answered all my questions and got my project scheduled quickly. The crew arrived at 6:30 AM and was done by just after 12:30PM. They were very careful to tarp above my landscaping to protect it. They worked quickly and efficiently. Afterwards, they were meticulous with clean up, going over not once but twice with the magnets to find practically every nail in my grass and landscaping. They missed very few. They used a leaf blower to get any debris off deck roof, deck, driveway and walkway. Bill returned after the crew left and he courteously "tweaked" a few things for me. The crew came out around 7/8am and were done by 1pm. Great clean up and Mark even did a second magnetic pass to ensure all nails were picked up.
