I will admit right now that Linkhorn was the link/contact my realtor sent to me and so me, first time home buyer, went ahead with it. Now, I did look up the company but did not do die hard research, just because my job keeps my busy enough. Having said that, Brent Odson was my "assigned person." When I arrived about 10 minutes early, he was already there. He immediately made me feel very comfortable by introducing himself, giving me some of his background and then introducing his partner as well. There is something about Brent that is not only calming but also reassuring, which for a first time home buyer is really what you need. I asked him so many questions about the property and he was able to answer them all. He never made me feel like any of my questions were silly (even though a few probably were) and treated me (and my friend) with the upmost respect and courtesy that can be a rarity these days. Brent was incredibly throrough and so knowledgable that I found myself asking him questions about his own personal experiences with his homes which was humbing that he would even share with us. He addressed all of my concerns with a polite and respectful tone and had a very relaxing, great sense of humor to boot, which was perfect because I was pretty nervous about this process. I would HIGHLY recommend Brent for your home inspection. You will not be disappointed with his attention to detail, knowledge of so many household questions but most of all, just his genuine personality. Chris Toombs and Brian (?) came to do my inspection and were very thorough and had no problems with me shadowing them or asking questions. They did an excellent job from top to bottom on the inspection and provided me with a well laid out report that made it both easy for myself and the Seller to understand, which meant the Request to Remedy we sent them was easily adhered to. I was impressed that they came as a team, which I think allowed them to cover a lot of ground and not get held up if I stopped one to ask questions. I was also thankful that they took safety seriously and thought about things other inspectors may have overlooked (like testing the garage door to make sure it auto-reverses if something has gotten stuck). With small children, details like this are a piece of mind. I also paid for the extra sanitary sewer camera inspection and it was well worth it! The video was top quality (albeit really eerie/creepy/gross to watch) as the camera snaked its way through the pipes and out to the sewer as it made its way through all sorts of lovely things. Made it very easy to show the Seller what needed remedying and they will be getting the main drain line cleared as a result. Their knowledge, courtesy, and speed of service are definite pluses. The layout of their findings is easy to read and they did a great job answering all of my questions and really digging into the home for me. A+! read more

Our realtor recommended LInkhorn Inspections to assess condition of a new home my Daughter is purchasing. The circumstances are somewhat unusual due to the fact that the home was flooded approximated 45 days before closing, and construction was fairly far along. The flooding was caused by water in both bathrooms being turned on and left on, and for some reason, running over both tubs, and ruining hardwood floors, carpeting, etc. Although we are dealing with a large and well regarded builder, due to the situation, we felt we needed an independent inspector to represent our interests. We called and spoke to Jerry Linkhorn, and he personally met us at the house within the hour. He also brought a very seasoned inspector with over 30 years experience in the construction trades. These gentlemen clearly know what they are doing, and genuinely seem to care, which immediately inspired confidence. Most importantly, when results came in, and conflicted with the home builder's own inspector's results, the builder asked who our inspection company was. When we told them Linkhorn Inspections, they said they know and trust this company. Therefore, they had their own inspector come back to recheck their results. Being first time home buyers my boyfriend and I were unsure who to use as an inspector, so our realtor recommended Linkhorn Home Inspections. Our inspector was Brent Odson, and as we got to the house he had just finished checking the roof. Brent was so patient with us, and realizing that we were first time home buyers he went above and beyond his duties to give us hints for being a homeowner, took the time to thoroughly explain everything, and he helped teach us little repairs here and there along the inspection. Used Linkhorn inspection group for my recent home inspection for pending house purchase. Brent Odson was the inspector. He did a very fantastic job!! He was very thorough, professional, skilled, and personable. He walked us through the whole house, inside and out, while explaining every issue or potential concern we may have to deal with in the near future. He was very patient with us, and did a really good job at explaining some of the more complex issues in layman's terms. I worked with Brent Odson, inspecting a house I'm buying, and overall he was very professional, friendly, and informative! I've ordered a home inspection before, with another company and another house, so I knew about what to expect, and Brent with Linkhorn definitely met my expectations. We walked through each room of the house, tested the permanent fixtures (water faucets, electrical outlets, furnace, etc), he pointed out issues as he encountered them, and I received a full write-up afterwards. I felt like the inspection was thorough and uncovered issues I wouldn't have found on my own! As an aside, always read the documents they send you, especially the ones they have you sign before they will perform the inspection, as this will set your expectation on what they will or will not inspect or do, and why. For instance, due to the weather and season, he did not get onto the roof to inspect it, nor did he inspect the AC. We added a room to our existing home. Upon inspection by the county, we were told of several deficiencies. The contractors used did not do a very good job and tried to exploit more money than originally agreed upon. We terminated their help prior to the job being finished. Beware of unlicensed, scamming contractors! Lesson learned the hard way! The job needed to be finished properly. I wanted every nut, bolt, crook, and cranny checked and corrected. I have owned three homes (one of which we built from scratch) so I know a fair bit about construction and I know if a home inspector knows what they are doing. I chose Linkhorn because they are a local business, not part of a chain. I was impressed by the work Linkhorn did for me. First of all, I was very pleased that the office was able to schedule a condo inspection for me at 8:30 on a Sunday (who works on Sunday?) since I was unable to take time off work. When I got there, Brent had already examined the exterior and was in the attic when I came in. He was very pleasant and professional throughout the experience and took extra time to talk to me about specific things having to do with condos (since I have never owned one before). The inspection report was completed and emailed to me that same afternoon. The fee I paid was very reasonable (actually I think I paid about that much for a home inspection done in 1997). He walked me through the house and showed me the areas I would need to address and that would be going on his report. He continued and encouraged me to take notes myself. My inspector was Brent. Our inspection time was 1:30pm. I arrived at 1:20 and he was already there waiting for me, so he was prompt. He was very personable and easy to talk to and ask questions to. He answered my questions in terms I could understand, and he walked me through the whole inspection. Where he noted problems, he gave me suggestions for fixes and how serious an issue it was. About halfway through the inspection, his camera died, but he had a backup and was still able to take pictures for the report. He seemed to be well equipped, with tech to measure heat and cold output for the central air and A/C, and test voltage in the electric sockets. He assured me his report would be available within 24hrs and it was. I found the report to be very thorough and included everything I had asked about and some things I did not. The report gae suggestions for fixes as well as the severity of the problem. The pictures in the document pointed out the problem areas for easy viewing. read more

At the time that we were buying our house we had thought that Linkhorn did a great job. There were many concerns that they found that helped us make a decision. Now that we have been in the house for 4 months we are finding things that should have been caught easily by an inspector. Our deck was not built to code. Three contractors have told us the issues should have been caught by our inspectors as they were obvious ones. The most recent situation was our furnace. There were birds that had been living in the actual furnace and the HVAC technician said that it was obvious and it should have been noticed by an inspector. Until now there was no need to turn on the furnace through the summer but the inspection happened in April and should have been evident. We did contact Linkhorn regarding the concerns with the deck and we were basically brushed off. We paid more than we planned for the inspection thinking the company was more thorough than others.
