I'm really glad this florist is open again after the fire a couple of years ago. It would've been a shame to lose them, because it's one of my neighborhood spots I rely on when I'm having people over and I want to freshen up my living room, or when it's my Dad's passing anniversary and they usually have a really nice selection to choose from. The owner is so attentive, kind, and very caring and the guys who work there are great too. If you're not sure what to get, they'll help you put something together that looks beautiful without making it complicated. Whether picking up something simple for your home or ordering flowers for someone else, the arrangements always come out lovely. When I visit, I leave with something I'm happy with. These people are great,.. let me count the ways,.. My plans to take my wife out of state for mothers day weekend ( NY to PA) changed Saturday afternoon, and we wound up staying in NY, Saturday the day before mothers day 4pm Saturday I called Connie and asked if it was to late to order roses for delivery for mothers day. We live 20 miles north of the Bronx, and on any other day, they accommodate me on deliveries. ( I have been ordering from Columbia for years now, see other reviews of mine.) Connie said no problem. WELL, problems with the delivery, and they called to say the flower delivery person could not get to me until 5pm on mothers day. Problem being, I had dinner plans at 5pm, and would not be home. They couldn't apologize enough. After dealing with Columbia for all these years, and getting the most beautiful flowers and the great customer service, and always a few extra "throw in's", no problem on my part. I had them deliver to where my wife works the following Wednesday. Now here is where, let me count the ways comes in. The order of 1 dozen red roses, without a valise, ( they are heavy as hell, good quality), she received THREE DOZEN BEAUTIFUL RED ROSES, the valse and a box of chocolates. I showed up at this flower shop around 9:30-9:45 AM. I asked could flowers be delivered to my mom TODAY, not tonight, TODAY. The girl said sure, as if it was not a problem. The flower shop is 12 minutes from my mom's house. I called back at 2:30 PM because still no flowers have arrived. The lady said "oh yeah we had a funeral" (yeah right) I am almost positive she knew when I walked in that morning they had a funeral. She could have said there will be delays because of it, BUT SHE DID NOT..such dishonesty. I asked can she give me a time they would be delivered and she said 6:00 PM...They were NOT...I called at 6:05PM..She said "they on the truck for delivery"..I told her to call the person delivering to see how much longer. She came back and told me 10 to 15 minutes. Here it is 6:30 PM and still NO FLOWERS. My flowers were only $191.00 however, it was my money to spend. I will never set foot in this flower shop again. I've been coming here for as long as I could remember. I walked in tonight to pick up some flowers to drop off for Mother's Day. I do understand it is a busy time but I really was so disappointed in my experience here tonight. I asked for an arrangement of different pinks with some other flowers. When she brought out the arrangement for the price I asked which was 120 I politely asked if she had any other roses as the ones she gave me were browning and looked like they were probably going to die soon. Her response to me when I expressed my concern and that I wasn't the happiest with them she responded with " these are the only pink we have and they look good" in Spanish. I asked to switch to white because I think if I'm paying 100+ dollars for flowers I'd like them to look they will last a couple days. The white flowers that came out were to also not in the best condition but I just wanted to get out of there so I just asked to remove some baby breathe as it was a lot and made it look like a lot was going on. This annoyed the woman helping me so she passed me over to another woman who's opening sentence to me was " what's the problem with them now " which obviously wasn't the nicest to say. Long story short even tho I've been coming here for years and this was def my last time giving them my business because the cherry on top was the arrangement wasn't as nice or full as my friends who walked in and picked up a ready rose arrangement that had been a canceled order with a vase was cheaper than mine and I was charged 120 plus tax when I said my budget was 120 but checked my card and it was 135 and the register said 120 when I ask see for the total. read more

I was looking for somewhere local to get affordable flowers for two beautiful new sculptural vases I bought since I had people coming over, and I'm so glad to have found Columbia Florist. Connie helped me create two gorgeous, tall and unique bouquets (roses and greenery; and lilies, greenery and birds of paradise) all for a reasonable $50 total. However, what happened next is what sets them apart: my flowers started wilting in just a few days, and Connie told me to bring them in so she could replace them with new ones! Nice people, and I'd love to support local, but the selection of flowers to buy on a walk in basis could be more diverse and the prices are horribly high. Flower arrangements sent to me have also been hit or miss-- some are very pretty and some look dated and out-of-fashion (e.g. red roses + white mums + baby's breath). On Friday, three plain bunches of flowers (carnations, tulips, daffodils) -not even a bouquet- just cost me $35 including tax. The same exact thing would've cost under $20 at Trader Joe's. I can't justify shopping here unless I'm in a rush and already in the area. read more

When my birthday rolled around this week, during covid quarantine, I told him not to bother - I figured they probably can't get stock in with all the supply chain issues, etc. I am so glad he didn't listen to me! My issues with Columbia florist are: I went to Columbia florist twice to discuss my floral wedding plans. Connie seemed to be very patient and understanding to all of my needs and request. However on the day of my wedding what was requested was not delivered. For example: First and foremost, all of the flowers were not fresh. There was a dirty brown brim on all of my flowers. Second, I asked for pearl bracelets for the mother of the bride and groom. However, this was not delivered. It was far from the example I spoke to them about and far from the picture example I gave them. They said it would be no problem when I was speaking to them. However, they delivered to me a pearl bracelet with flowers that was glued down by weak glue. Before the wedding began the flower on the bracelet was so heavy that it fell off. Third, I explained to them I had a white dress and I would like white roses. However, the day of my wedding I was given ivory roses. Which threw off a lot of my pictures. Fourth, goes back to my first point, my bridesmaids were suppose to have pink roses. However we were given pink and brown due to the brim of all roses having a brown stain on top. It was as if the flowers were left out of days and about to turn bad. Fifth, my bouquets was horrible. Let me repeat. The brides bouquet was HORRIBLE. First the color was not the right color. Second I asked for pearls in between my flowers. However, they gave me a cluster of rhinestones. Far far far from what I requested. I write this post so no one has to goes through what I went through. On a special day like a wedding, no one should be strong-armed to accept flowers they did not request. No one should be strong-armed to accept anything from a company that was suppose to perfectly tender their services. If this is not what you paid for, this is not what you deserved. read more

I had a disappointing experience with Columbia florist for my wedding this past July. Initial meetings in person were great, I thought. Connie advised I come with inspiration photos, which I did. Now I'm a very meticulous planner, and try my best not to allow any room for error, so I printed out a very detailed set of docs with photos of exactly what I wanted, in addition to the quantities, color scheme, and location of where I wanted everything. Connie and I both reviewed it together for about an hour to clarify everything, and she gave me her assurance that everything will be there when I get to the venue. I thought I wouldn't have to worry after that. A couple weeks before the wedding, we had a couple changes from our initial list of things we needed, which I expressed to Connie via text and email. She said no problem. Ok great. On the day of the wedding, the first red flag was a rude man from Columbia who came to my hotel room asking for the final check. I thought that was definitely odd, and pretty inconsiderate as I was going through the motions (my wedding was in 3 hours from that point), and he's demanding money from me. I had my matron of honor ready with all of our final payments, which I expected was going to happen at our wedding venue...not outside my hotel room. It struck me as odd, but considering that I didn't have the capacity at that moment to invest my feelings into, I let it go. Except when I arrived to the venue and saw that the centerpieces were not even close to what we discussed (for almost an hour - needed to mention that again) - the color scheme was completely off and the flowers I requested were not in the arrangement. At this point, I was pretty annoyed and texted Connie about this, which she got her team to slightly alleviate the situation. Still not what I wanted but worked as a quick solution since there wasn't much time left. That was one big mistake. Some other major things were missing, in addition to the above: 2. I had ordered bouttainaires for my husband, 3 for his groomsmen, 10 for the important uncles/cousins in my family, and of course, 2 for both of our fathers. They had somehow gotten all but 2....which happened to be our father's. I'm not sure how they forgot the bouttainaires of 2 of the most important people in the wedding party, but they did. 3. I never got a throwaway bouquet, and I didn't want to throw mine to the crowd, so it just didn't happen. 4. I had asked for an arrangement for our mirror seating chart. I want to note that I had initially asked for a big centerpiece for our welcome table and then asked to swap it out for the seating chart arrangement. This was noted via email and acknowledged by Connie. Surprise surprise, it was no where to be found at the wedding. 5. We had also asked for a bunch of candles on the sides of our sweetheart table and for a simple arrangement for our wedding cake...neither of those happened. Now I want to be fair and say that the arrangements that did make an appearance were beautiful (except the centerpieces weren't what I wanted so I was forced to settle more or less). But the negligence left a way bigger impression on me. The quality of customer service was initially promising, but ultimately disappointing. I primarily picked this place because they gave me a quote that was significantly cheaper vs. the many other vendors we looked at, and honestly, I got what I paid for. Unfortunately, many things got lost in translation which I can only guess is due to negligence on their part. read more
