cf richmond centre really does have it all, uniqlo, zara, h&m, the apple store, muji, the lego…read morestore, sephora, basically all the staples you actually want in one place and then some. it makes running errands or doing a proper shopping trip super easy, especially if you're the "one stop and done" type. a little context that makes it even more impressive: it's one of the major shopping hubs in richmond and sits right by the canada line's richmond-brighouse station, so getting there by transit is effortless. the mall has been around since the 1980s, but it's now in the middle of a major, multi phase redevelopment that's gradually transforming the whole area into more of a modern, mixed use 'downtown' core with residential towers, expanded retail, and new public space. if it feels like it's evolving, that's because it literally is. inside, instead of a typical boxy layout, the mall follows more of a soft loop. the corridors gently curve and wrap around in an irregular oval shape rather than forming a square or straight line. it feels organic, almost like it grew over time and that flow makes it surprisingly easy to cover ground without feeling like you're walking a marathon. you naturally pass storefront after storefront as the space opens into wider halls and seating areas, so it never feels like a long, narrow hallway. it's bright, open, and comfortable enough to spend a few hours in, whether you're on a mission or just wandering with a coffee. the food court, the dining terrace is solid too. good variety, lots of seating, and generally well maintained. you've got quick bites, plenty of asian eats (as you'd expect in richmond), and the usual comfort options. it's not trying to be a gourmet destination, though there's a few restaurants, and reliable fuel for round two of retail therapy. there have also been some fun activations lately. during an olympic themed event, they set up a mini bobsled experience and even a curling activity where people could try their hand at sliding stones. it gave the space a playful, community energy that made it feel like more than just a place to shop. of course, it hasn't all been additions. the loss of the bay marked the end of an era and left a noticeable gap for longtime shoppers. it was one of those anchor stores that felt tied to the mall's identity, so its closure definitely shifted the atmosphere. the main downside right now is the construction. some entrances are blocked and navigation can take a minute to figure out. the signage helps, but you might accidentally do an extra lap thanks to that curved layout. still, parking is free, as it should be and in metro vancouver, that alone feels like a small win. overall, it's still one of the better malls in the area, and it's clearly in transition. if this is the "during construction" version, the finished product should be pretty exciting.

CF Richmond Centre feels like a teenager who hit a growth spurt too early and never quite figured…read moreout what to do afterwards.  Sure, it's got the Apple Store gleaming aspirational techheads, a handful of designer storefronts trying their best to look worldly, and a food court upstairs that--on paper--should be a damn good reason to linger. It's polished, modern, almost smug in its stainless-steel confidence. And yet... you walk through on what should be a busy day, and the silence hangs around your ankles like fog at dawn.  There's an emptiness here, a kind of mall ennui, as if the place is waiting for someone--anyone--to decide what it's supposed to be when it grows up.  Are you going to be high fashion and chic or will you be another bargain mall? Meanwhile, just across the way, McArthurGlen is sucking up all the oxygen like the loud, flashy cousin who shows up at the family reunion with new teeth, discount luxury, and a better Instagram account.  That's the place people actually go--destination shopping, outlet energy, crowds spilling out of every corridor. CF Richmond? It becomes the afterthought, the "well, we're already in the area so maybe we'll swing by" mall. The mall equivalent of a consolation prize - maybe the pageant winner will retire and CF-R can have a chance to reign like a real mall... Maybe not. And then there's the parking - OMG!  Years of construction, half-blocked entrances, the slow-motion nightmare of circling levels like a frustrated shark just hoping for a space to open up - that isn't blocked off!  A mall can survive a lot, but it can't survive making people miserable before they've even stepped inside. With The Bay packing up and leaving, the mall loses not just a store but an anchor - literally the ballast that keeps a mall from drifting into irrelevance. They need a heavyweight, something bold, something that makes you say, yeah, okay, I'll deal with the traffic for that. And they need it fast. CF Richmond isn't bad. It's just adrift. A mall with good bones, some shiny pieces, but no heartbeat.  A place that could be great but is stuck in the purgatory between intention and execution. If it wants to matter again, it'll need more than a facelift - it needs to grow up and choose what it wants to be.  Right now, it's just waiting for someone to save the mall. 2.5 stars - take it or leave it.  The Apple Store isn't enough for me to trek there! Meh...

Then they got bought out by the YM Company that owns Stitches, Suzy Shier and Sirens. So now you can get the same two plain tshirts for $10 at Bluenotes that you could at any of those stores. Yay for options! The staff are pretty much run off their feet because the store is filled with peasants who get dressed in the dark and are looking for a bargain. You'll get helped by a disgruntled employee. who is constantly trying to play catch-up by filling the shelves with stock that just came in, since the shit is flying out the door, and half of it is probably not even paid for. The store is usually in disarray, so finding a size is next to impossible, not that the clothes they carry are worth sifting through, the two stars goes to the cheap price of pretty much everything in the store, because occasionally you will come across something worthy of your time and effort. I guess I am just sad to see the old Bluenotes go, which gave us good quality jeans that didn't stretch out after the first wear. Sometimes change is not so good.

Really bad customer service on price adjustment. For example, my mom recently bought a $400 coat…read morefrom the place on Dec 22 which then went down to ~$350 around Boxing Day. After consulting with a store associate, checking the price adjustment rule on Laura.ca and checking rules posted in-store and on the receipt, we found that we are eligible for a price adjustment because the discount happened within 14 days of the coat being bought. We brought in our receipt around Jan 2nd for a price adjustment. The store manager, Michelle, told us that we are not eligible in an annoyed and begrudging tone. First she explained that only purchases after Dec 25th are eligible for price adjustment. She proceeded to follow with "if everyone does it, companies will go bankrupt." Here are my major concerns with such practice 1.) There is no rule, whether it's on Laura.ca, receipt, store posted sign nor verbal at the time of purchase that states we are ineligible for such price adjustment. Such rule, if exists, should be very clear from Dec 1st and is made clear in-store, online and at the point of sale. 2.) When pressed further to provide evidence of said rule in the store, and showing the manager the web site. She told us in a very rude tone that we should take it up to corporate, which I sure did. 3.) Calling other stores in lower mainland has yield different responses stating that we are indeed eligible for price adjustment. In fact, the ladies in Coquitlam and Metrotown was really helpful in explaining the policy in detail (for example items that had over 50% are ineligible for price adjustment) l. I believe the store deserves a 1 star because A.) The associates were not helpful. Besides the store manager, one associate actually proceeded to answer "I am not sure" and then walked away ignoring our further questions. B.) The rules and policies were not stated clearly. In fact, I doubt if such policy exists since it is not stated anywhere. Said rule seemed to be made up. C.) I overheard the store manager talking about us with another customer, which I believe is a violation of our trust and privacy. The above 3 reasons led me to believe the store manager is being unprofessional. To be very honest, selfishly speaking it is not my business that your company go bankrupt and is rather an unprofessional thing to say to a customer. Imagine taking this to Nordstrom, Best Buy or Futureshop or the Bay, these sort of practice and unprofessional conducts would not fly.

So I was one day after their "two week" stipulation so I couldn't get a refund. No problem I thought I will just exchange for other clothing in the store. I would have had to lose over $100.00 dollars ... so the outfit is in my closet waiting to be given away. Really poor business practice and kind of stealing on their part!

How did Richmond end up with such a great boutique like this?!…read more As I stepped into the store, I knew this was going to be good. A simple and clean blue and white scheme, a large open space, a couple of racks of clothing, a simple artsy armchair, and Kelsi Dagger shoes! Their careful selection of clothing reflects in the brands that they choose: Covet, Something Else, Gentle Fawn, Spiewalk, Designers Remix, and a couple of other newly discovered brands today. Lots of cute tops and dresses, jeans, as well as a good collection of jackets. Oh, did I mention that they also carry Kelsi Dagger shoes (Pour La Victoire's sister line). They have jewlery by Blee Inara, which were very unique pieces. They only have one change room though, so it could sometimes be a bit of a wait. So happy that I discovered this shop! The store was neatly organized and displayed everything to it's fullest potential. I loved the wall of bags and the small collection of shoes they had. The racks of dresses, tops, pants and sweaters were all very pretty and trendy but were on a slightly more expensive side, than I'm used to but that's boutique shopping right? However, touching the clothes, it definitely had quality in every piece. I was very tempted to buy a high-wasted rose pink flowy skirt for $56 but I stopped the little shopping devil inside me. I loved the very dainty and unique jewelry that adorned the shop as well - there was a feel for antique, aztec and modern jewelry scattered around the room. A very cute addition to Steveston.

My part-time, work-at-home research gigs have spoiled me silly, and I found myself brutally underprepared for my first week of work at a new position. But I didn't have a plan of attack! Enter Plenty (aka Plen+y, I suppose). It caught my eye (as I walked on by), because I was familiar with the store...I had purchased some things from their other locations, but never from this particular one. I was pleased to be greeted immediately by racks of trousers, blouses, and skirts, AND signs that informed me of their 50% off everything sale going on right now. Needless to say, I went a bit crazy. I started flinging items over my arms willy-nilly in an attempt to finish the task at hand ASAP. A sales associate noticed my burden and asked if he could start a room for me, so that I could continue to rifle manically. It also helped that this store is about a quarter the size of their other locations, eliminating that lost, overwhelmed feeling that I'm prone to. Decent selection of casual and dressier options for the "young, modern working woman" (no, my new job isn't in advertising). Service was there, but sort of indifferent. I didn't mind - I walked away with enough items to keep me semi-presentable for the next few weeks, mitigating any future nightmares about showing up to work in pajamas.
