Let's just say Erin Ford caters to one type of client. I filled out the contract information form…read morereceived an email within 24 hours that she was available for my wedding date. She included price list, contract and deposit information. I replied back stating that I was excited and looked forward to working with her. I always follow up with a phone call. I do this so that I can get a feel for the person I'll be dealing with and they can get a feel for me. I left a voice mail message asking about next steps and if she could call me back with a date that we could meet to sign the contract and exchange the deposit. Well within 5 minutes received an email back saying that that date was booked after all with a list of Makeup artist. I quickly reviewed each of them and noticed that the one thing they all had in common was people of color in their Portfolio. I would have respected Erin more if she had stated that she is not qualified or experienced in dealing with people of color. Once she heard my voice on the voice mail massage she put me into one type without talking to me or trying to see what my needs were. I felt that she lied and handle it in the most unprofessional way possible. I will be passing this information on to my wedding coordinators, caters and vendors, advising them to be aware that promoting Erin is making the statement that you cater to one type of client. The up side is that the one of the referral on the list was (no surprise) an African American Makeup Artist. She is the most pleasant, professional person and I'm looking forward to working with her and referring All my friends, family and colleagues of various cultures and diverse backgrounds to her. She is trained to apply her artistry to anyone who sits in her chair.
