I've been to Colosseum plenty of times but I've only been upstairs. I've never had a bad experience! The music is always good! The management and the rest of the Colosseum staff have always been incredibly nice to my friends and I. The guy checking ID's is super nice. My friends and I went here two nights in a row one time and the second night my friend forgot her ID, but he remembered us and let us in. He's always friendly and he's a cutie too! That's a plus! I'm from the south shore in Massachusetts so we drive about an hour to get to Providence. We were stuck in traffic one night and it was one of the nights where ladies were free till 11. We arrived there two minutes after 11 but spoke to one of the owners of Colosseum and he was very nice about it and let us in. *Just make sure you bring enough for the cover charge just in case you arrive late. Another night my friends and I were walking to get in line and one of the staff members at Colosseum pulled us aside and let us into the VIP 'No Wait' line which was incredibly nice. The only downside is the amount of older guys in there.. There have been many occasions where I've been hit on by guys that look old enough to be my dad. And sometimes there are even older guys that look like someone's grandfather. Ladies, just be prepared to have your ass slapped several times, rubbed up against, etc. but it wouldn't be a club if those things didn't happen! Overall it's a fun place to let loose and have fun. Be prepared to get your phone stolen from this bar... and not have anything done about it. sat there sobbing as a man was going around stealing phones, and the security guards (even the women security guards) were yelling at me, one even told me to "toughen up and stop being weak" when I began to cry. I have a unique story to share. Colosseum seems to be praised for being one of the better and more up to date clubs in the Providence Club district, but I have never witnessed poorer management. I went for a friend's 21st birthday night out on the town. Our group bought plenty of drinks and were great patrons to the establishment. As the drinks flowed, a few of the girls decided to dance on one of the many poles they have in the main dancing room. However, as soon as a girl of larger size went to dance, the "manager" came over and told her she had to get down as they were filming a video for the club that night and they had dancers that would soon be using the poles. As I'm sure you predicted, these "dancers" never appeared and as soon as the girl realized they had lied to her, spent the night crying and we soon had to leave. This is a RHODE ISLAND club, this is not some big club opening in New York or even Boston. I believe they need to get off their high horse and show some respect toward ALL patrons. I have been sickened by this situation for a long time and had to share. Because of this I will NEVER be visiting again. read more

So I just got back from being stranded kind of in Asia for 21 month...The night life in South East Asia is not that great if you do not like to stand around places with tables mostly and many smokers...very few spots a single man can wander into and not feel a bit out of it...anyways my daughter who I missed two birthdays and is 19 going on 30 and my ex who is about the age I was when I met her but looks only a decade older than our daughter was thrilled to go here after not being out anywhere for so long. Collosseum compared to what I have been through the past 2 years was a breath of fresh air even with the not so good DJ...The crowd last night was obviously going to be a young crowd being a back to school night, people were exuberantly friendly and unfortunately the bar tenders were overwhelmed so I got one drink and spent the rest of the night thinking about jumping into the super spreader events scrimmaging at the bars!!! The place still is one place were people do like to dance, its probably going to be the same situation on Saturdays with a very uneven ratio of men and women. The older women just don't make it in here probably because getting swarmed by sweaty men from 20 countries and 3 time zones doesn't appeal to the older set!!! read more

Absolutely awful. The smoke machines are on constantly and by the end of the night I was coughing up sidewalk chalk. Between homo-erotic bro-offs on the back columns, Molly-munchers raving it up alone in the corners, and the $9 drinks with less alcoholic content than a case of O'Douls; I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless they're in the mood for a high-bro / low-ho ratio. This place was great! Started off slow for a Friday and left around 11:30 to see another club and we went back and normally you have to pay a cover each time you leave and the security let the 3 of us back in for free so I was happy about that! They were good with security and gave a good pat down to keep us safe cause this world is already crazy but was a safe and amazing night will defiantly go back soon! 5 star for sure Cover charge was only $10 that was better than Ultra next door ! read more

Colosseum....Hands down, Simply amazing. I was stunned looking at the pub. Its lively as hell and music is terrific. The sound will touch your heart beat.....it just roxxxx. Okay so when i was younger (still young but with a few wrinkles HA!) I dropped acid in this club. I then walked into the club and saw weird images, people naked, you know the drill I was high! The workers there from what I remember were rude, place smelled, music was bad, the floor was creaky. I don't know just didn't enjoy it. My son goes there now and claims the girls there are what people Call girls "thots" now. I would go if Barry manalow was playing other than that would never go back espically if the place is crawling with "thots"when I was younger the bartender there groped me when I asked for a gin and tonic weird. This place is SEXTIST, a bouncer told one of my guy friends he was not allowed to dance on the pole by himself or at all because "it is illegal in Rhode Island". Secondly upon entering the club I was told I could not bring my dab pen in and they would give it back to me when I left. When I left and tried to get it back they gave me a different cartridge than the one I had bought (different brand) and gave me one that was entirely empty when the one I gave them was full. The bouncers then started to raise their voices at me and treated me with disrespect and told me it wasn't their fault that the cartridge leaked, when it was an entirely different one. I had a really great time with my friends in VIP but then some random guy who we didnt know came strolling in VIP telling us to "shut the fuck up" and almost started a fight and one bouncer was acting up to my friend who happened to be the person the vip reservation was under and a friend of the owner on the club. Upon getting my ID checked and hand stamped by the "little person" bouncer, I was taken to the side and subsequently violated by the security as his sweaty hand grabbed my penis to "make sure I didn't have a firearm". At this point I was surprised because in an era of the #MeToo movement I did not think this would be acceptable. The $10 cover was a little pricey but I guess they have to pay their second rate male strippers from Miami somehow. They played nothing but Spanish music for the entire 2 hours I was there. The Colosseum is probably the worst nightclub in Providence the three or four times I have been here were just absolutely terrible the dance floor is so small whenever it gets packed you can barely move the people for the most part are just scummy. I had a great time at Colosseum. My friends and I went there and had a great time. Even though we got there pretty early, we had tons of fun being the first ones to start dancing; we even went on the stage and danced. The people there were really nice and we even met new people who would dance with us on the stage. There are two floors, on the first floor there was a band that played pretty good. I was just there on Thursday the week of Halloween. The girls there are so freaking hott! Everyone had so much fun. I try to go at least once a week. Preferably on Saturdays. Barring some unusual circumstances, like the owner personally apologizing, me and anyone who will listen to reason will never go to this place again. First off, they promoted the club as $10 entry, which is still on the website, but then charged $15 at the door. I dont mind paying $15, i just mind being nickel and dimed by a "premier" establishment. Secondly, the arrogance of most of the staff would have made you think they catered to Jay Z instead of to the local clubbers/dub steppers of Providence. After paying the $15 cover they confiscated a liquor nip i had in my pocket, i can understand that they could not let outside liquor into the establishment but the manner in which they talked to me was unprofessional and crass. Finally, a radio station would have been better than the DJ who apparently forgot his ADD meds as his mixing was essentially a power hour song mix with no tunes lasting longer then 60 secs before being horribly blended into another beat. Living midway between Providence and Boston it costs me nothing to pick one of the dozen of places else to go dance but the manner of your staff has cost "Colosseum" around a thousand dollars from my wife and i over the next few months, as we go out every weekend and spend between $70-$100/night. Add to that the horribly detrimental negative word of mouth that this place will get to any individual who asks about places to dance and you get what you serve; a crappy staff gets a crappy review. read more

We came in for New Year's Eve and it was a great time. There was a 25 and up party. The food was good the drinks were inexpensive the atmosphere was great and drama-free. The bouncers and security guards did a very good job of keeping everything in order and they made their presence aware but they were not overbearing. The rest of the staff was very accommodating and very nice. I am not the club type of person but I felt very safe in this environment. The only thing that I would change different is this place needs a little bit of a facelift. Some of the couch cushions were peeling some of the tiles in the floor were missing and overall it looks a little dated. We, along with other disability rights organizations, protested and called for the removal of the dwarf tossing scene in "The Wolf of Wall Street." First off they are liars. They confiscated my boyfriend's small swiss army knife at the door because he forgot to take it out of his pocket. It was a present from being in his friend's wedding. We understood that having any type of knife was an issue and offered to leave but they still insisted they had to take it, even if we didn't go in. Then they went on to assure us that we could pick it up at the police station the next day if we described it. So we went into the club anyway since it was our forgetfulness. But then we called the police the following day and they told us that the police never deal with items taken at clubs. So basically they are LIARS! And just stole it. We still went into the club ...and it wasn't a good experience. First off, do people know how to dance? Idk the crowd was pretty lifeless. I wouldn't go back here..Also just a heads up, you can't go between the different rooms to hear other types of music. Only one choice or you have to pay more. I've heard a lot of bad club stories, but every time I come here I have a blast. It's definitely one of the better clubs in Providence. The music is very easy to dance to, they have a lot of dance house and remixes. Inside is uniquely decorated to fit Roman times There are 2 poles you can dance on and dance platforms It is very popular with college students but I have had to deal with some creepy 40 yr old men. Just wanna thank the manager and bouncers who helped us out Saturday night. We came as a group of 5 but when we left we realized there was only 4 of us. At first we asked if we could go back in to get her but the bouncer at the door said no since it was after 1. Eventually he agreed to take a description and about 10 minutes later out she came. Anyway, so after getting there @ around 12:25 ......and before actually paying $5, i witness a nerve wracking fight...i mean this fight was brutal like kicking on the face and nuts with blood pumping out of nose and mouth before the mngmt called the cops.Not to be blunt ..i thought Colosseum should bump the price to $10 atleast for the people who saw this scene in action. I have been a patron for many years and have yet to have a problem that wasen't easily rectified. The bouncers do an amazing job at keeping the riff raff in line. The dj's are always experienced. I have seen on rare ocasion staff disrespecting patrons but management keeps a very tight leash and i have seen bouncers get fired over an insult. read more
