I wish I could take down my previous review. My experience soon after the review went completely downhill. Don't get me wrong. I've seen some of her hair color results on other people, and they looked great. I'm sure she's improved her technique since then. However, it doesn't matter what the level of talent one has, I will not do business with someone who wastes my time. It's a NO for me. Update... I am happy how it turned out. But only a few things... 1. My appointment was made with Toni. When I arrived Toni said she knew my appointment was with her but that was before she knew Ali would be available. Um I'm ok with that. I had researched Toni and her salon not Ali but still I'm good. 2. I mention to Toni that I had looked up her work and her salon on Instagram and Yelp. I had noticed a deal offered by Yelp but Toni said that she has been trying to get Yelp to take down that deal it was $65 voucher for $75 service value. But she assured me I was getting a better deal. Um again ok. 3. So Ali chats with me about what I am looking for with color. We discuss and look for some colors on Pinterest. We settle on this brownish with what looked like more on the reddish auburn towards the ends. And a cut to add some volume to my naturally curly and very fine thin hair. We are good! I'm ready. Lets do this. Ali goes off to mix my color. 4. So the last one was I was told by Toni When I stopped in on Friday the services would be $95 for color and the deal was for first time customers the $55 cut was included. BUT once in the chair Ali returned to inform me although Toni quoted me $95 the type of coloring we discussed and I agreed it was what I wanted to go for was more of a painting technique and the price would actually be $135! WOW I was a little stunned but I agree to the $40 increase. Plus I left a $35 tip when I was done. 5. The end result not quite what I was expecting but still better than the way I walked in. I've got to give it a few days and we will see how it fades out. NOTE: Ali gave me the warm fuzzies and made me feel amazing. I know I am an unusual hair customer. It always seems anyone trying to dry and style my hair struggles because it never quite reacts the way it should in their experience and knowledge. All this being said I am coming back in six weeks and we will see where we are when I return for maintenance. In a few days I will take some new pics. A recent LA transplant and in desperate need of a trim... all Yelp signs pointed to Hairitage! What first drew me in is their impressive photo album of artfully done dye jobs. Even though I wasn't looking for color, I knew this salon must have some great stylists. The owner Toni is wonderful & squeezed me in right away with her stylist Eddie the following morning. However when I showed up to our 10am appointment, I was greeted by locked doors and turned off lights rather than Eddie - uh oh! Luckily stylist Raina was just behind me and I ended up switching over to her booth instead - couldn't be happier! Raina is awesome. It's always a little nerve-wracking when going to a new stylist, but she made me feel totally at ease. She listened to exactly what I wanted and kept me in the loop every step of the way. I feel it's hard to find a hairdresser who truly understands the words "just a trim," but Raina gave me exactly what I was looking for with the perfect shape-up. The salon itself is quaint and not the most modern, but it has everything you need to feel comfortable. Prices are reasonable, and I appreciate the complimentary coffee & water too. I'm going to be perfectly candid here. I looked up plenty of hair salons before choosing to go to ColorDollz and getting my hair done from Toni, who happens to be the owner of the salon. I first called to make my apt, to which she said she can take me the following Saturday. I go to her at my apt time which was at 12PM. When I get there, she is already doing another clients hair. She asks me if I can wait 15 minutes because she's finishing up, to which I said OK because 15 minutes, why not? I come back 15 minutes later and she said it's going to take another 30 minutes. So I walk around the nearby mall, come back 30 minutes later, and she's gone. Apparently, she went to Starbucks with her niece to get "coffee." I wait there for another 15-20 minutes. By this time, an hour has gone by since my appointment time. She shows up with her Starbucks coffee. Anyways, I'm already irritated but I've already waited an hr and she's here. I show her the color of the hair that I wanted which was burgundy. She says she can do it, but she wants to add her "touch" and she was VERY adamant about it too. I asked her how much it was and she said it was $300. Ok. My hair is very black, so I understood. I asked her what her "touch" was and she said she wants to add a little bit of purple on the root and bring it down to burgundy. Doesn't sound bad. She showed me picture samples and I liked it. So I agreed. During the hair dye session, she kept taking smoke breaks. I was there for 9 hours! When she told me it'll take 4-5. She took over 10 different smoke breaks that lasted 15-20 minutes each time. She then asks me to buy her "lunch." So my bf goes and picks her up food as well. She then takes her "lunch" break for about an hour. Afterwards, she goes back to do my hair. Once she's done, she forces me to wear "make up" that SHE USES (her personal one), and holds me for 30 minutes because she wants to take a picture of her "masterpiece." The color wasn't even what I wanted. There was no burgundy or purple. It was TEAL! What the fuck. She also charged me $400 when she quoted me $300 for something I didn't even fucken want. Toni made miracles happen with my hair today! A home attempt to make my hair grey turned it blue and bleached out to where I thought I was going to lose my hair. Toni spent 4 hours on me and my hair feels better now then it did before the bleach. Honestly, she's worth every penny! My fiancé won't let me go to anyone else anymore and I don't want to either! I usually don't leave bad reviews because I feel like it's just not worth my time and energy but I was less than impressed by Toni and now I'm $250 poorer with hair I can't stand. I just moved to the Carlsbad/Oceanside area within the past year and have had terrible luck trying to find someone to do my hair. I'd been to 2 other people before coming across ColorDollz. I saw her work and thought it was just the person I needed to get the yellow/brassy out of my blonde hair and finally get it to the platinum blonde color I always wanted. I called and Toni got back to me very quickly and appt was made. I show up for my appt and want 15 minutes past the appt time and decide to message Toni making sure I'm even in the right spot, she then calls to tell me she's sick and won't make and we can reschedule. So I reluctantly do so. I show up for the rescheduled appt on time and she asks if 'I have any errands I can run' because she's doing someone else's hair at the moment. I again agree and come back 40 minutes later. She gets started on my hair and I show her the photo of what I want (platinum with a little shadow root regrowth) and she tells me she's really good at blonde so I'm excited. Now i know it can be difficult to get the white platinum color but my hair was already pretty blonde, yellow albeit, but blonde. I'm there for 3 hours and I leave with dark almost black roots and some sort of blonde color on the bottom. She tells me to come back the next day and she would do more, I'm thinking this is some sort of process that only hair dressers must know about. So I come back and she the turns my hair from the blonde color to now gray.. so I end up leaving with dark dark roots and gray hair. I go home and try to style it and throw some makeup on thinking that would make it better. It definitely does not. I hate it. So I get up the gall to text Toni and tell her how I feel, which is hard for me because I don't want to make anyone feel bad ever but I absolutely hated it and also paid $250 for hair I didn't ask for, I even showed a photo of what I wanted. So she 'squeezes' me in and i go in expecting that she'd fix it the way I originally asked and she said she won't be able to do it and proceeds to put brass back in my hair. So now I have brown hair with brassy yellow bottom, my worst nightmare. I told Toni that I absolutely hate myself with brown hair and golden tones, but here i am now with just that. I am moving out of town this next week but if I were to stay in the area and continue getting my hair done, I would never go to Toni again. She's a very sweet woman but it seems she totally disregarded what I wanted and just did whatever she wanted. I can't believe I paid $250 for what I got, with a total of like 6 hours chair time. I have seen photos of other hair stylists who can get darker hair to platinum in one sitting. Not to mention the cut is awful as well. I am so unimpressed and upset. Color Dollz is the best! I got EXACTLY what I wanted - purple balayage hair. My hair is dark and this was my first time coloring it with vibrants. I showed Lexi and Toni pictures of what I liked, and they were able to transform my hair into what I feel is my best hairstyle yet. The color was a mixture of different purple hues, and they faded so BEAUTIFULLY! I could not believe how beautiful my hair changed. Hair surrounding my face faded first into orange, and then the back faded to a dark red - both nicely complemented each other. Finally, the top of my hair was dyed a dark purple and the color really popped out after the other parts of my hair faded. Just brilliant! She is sincere and really cares about her clients and listens to what they want in order to ensure a happy customer. She understood my busy life and gave me a cut that would accommodate the lack of time I have to fix it. While at the salon everyone was very friendly. My hair was not finished yet and I already loved the cut. She is definitely someone I would come see again. Toni Rose Larson is an AMAZING hair artist. I came in with extremely damaged hair and horrible matting from extensions put in by another salon, with glue/silicon melted into the mats with barely 1/2-1/4" of room between the hair and my scalp. There was not a non-tangled strand in my head. You COULD NOT run even a soft brush through it. I honestly think most other stylists wouldn't have taken the time to fix it and would have shaved my head. Toni was very understanding, nonjudgemental, and made me feel very reassured during the entire process. Toni went above and beyond and salvaged my rats nest turning it into a full head of soft, smooth hair. I had my hair done by one of her coworkers on Saturday, it did not turn out well..... the first gal didn't have time to fix me, so thankfully I landed in Raina's chair last night. She was so gracious and kind (I was very stressed, I have never gone back to a stylist and said I was not happy), she assured me she wanted me to be happy and it was so genuine I felt comfortable. She had to redo the color and gave me a great haircut.... I used to go to a pretty trendy men's barber shop down the street but they went way downhill and got way too busy. It's kinda tough to find a place that will give you a good cut that fits into my budget, I like to get a cut about every two weeks. I found Megan at Hairitage and I can honestly say I've never had someone I liked more to cut my hair. I have the hardest part on the block. She always gives the freshest cuts. I've never written a review before, but NEED to for this experience. I saw Eddie for a cut and highlight, long story short. He totally botched it. He left the highlight on be bottom of my hair on for way too long, and ended up scorching my bottom layers. However, on top, nothing looks any different because it didn't have enough time to lift. NEXT, the cut is uneven!! I even told him I part in the middle and measuring up next to each other it's totally noticeable. I called Eddie and the shop multiple times, and got no reply for feed back. I've gone to the same hairdresser back home for 10 years and voiced to him that I was a little uncertain. He assured me he was capable of doing a good job. So wrong. read more

I went in to see Toni and she is just amazing! I was with my previous stylist for about 15 years, so to step out of my comfort zone and trust someone else with my hair was a bit scary. Toni did not disappoint though. She is so nice and so warm. She immediately makes you feel like an old friend and not just a client. You can show her a picture of exactly what you want and you can rest assure that she will make it happen. I have received so many compliments on my new hairstyle, more than I ever have before. I've had people come clear across a room just to tell me how much they like my hair. She has people seeking out her expertise on a daily basis. I had to book about 1.5 months out. Someone went in for a walk-in consultation and they specifically wanted Toni to touch their hair. Unfortunately she didn't have the time in her schedule to get them in but offered to have them book with another one of her stylists while she was present. She asked them exactly what they wanted to get done so she could book them with the appropriate stylist that was capable of giving them quality results. She was honest about what her stylists could handle and didn't offer to book them with just anyone, just to get the business. She really takes pride in her work, salon, and the staff she hires. She is full of creativity and very supportive of her staff. You can see that her mind is always working on how she can improve her work and even her staffs work. She was constantly throwing out ideas of creativity to her staff and she and I even discussed ideas as we went through the process together. Toni is a lot of fun and I will continue to go and see her. I hate leaving my stylist of so many years as we have built a relationship with one another, but Toni is just on another level and I just loved working with her and look forward to collaborating ideas with her for my other looks to come. I appreciated her honesty and candidness. She didn't over promise results but she came through and exceeded them. I'd rather hear "I may not be able to get you there in one sitting, but I can get you close...." than to be told they can get me North and be taken South. I used to have my hair cut and colored by a stylist who worked in TONI's salon when she was in Oceanside. I had only been going to that stylist for a short time before she moved out of state, so I didn't really know Toni as anything other than the owner of the salon. A few months after my stylist had left California, I ran into Toni at a nail salon, a salon both of us have been going to for years, never having seen one another. Serendipity? Kismet? Fate?
