Podium Kart was just the answer, offering a blend of adrenaline-pumping kart racing and the unique twist of axe throwing--all under one roof. We did not have a reservation, but just walked in. They were able to get us signed up for four races but unfortunately, our first race wouldn't take place for over an hour from when we arrived. To kill the time we signed up for axe throwing. Both of us knew to ask throwing we started off with just the basic target game and then moved on to the zombie and duck hunting games. It was a good competitive and humorous activity that made our wait go by so fast. The staff here is super nice and very helpful! I am tall so the pit master (not sure if that's what they really call him) had to help me adjust the seat backward and pedals forward. My partner had been go kart racing several times before, and was much faster than I was but still it was so much fun! It's pretty cool that they give you a piece of paper afterwards that shows your average speed laptops, and how you finish compared to the other people who were with you. And I plan to smoke him next time we go. Couple of tips: Ladies (and others with long hair) bring extra hair ties. It is a requirement to tie your hair back. Also be sure that you're wearing clothes toed shoes. This wasn't a problem for us because it was snowing outside so we both had boots on. You will smell gasoline fumes, so drink lots of water! I recommend going when it's not crowded. Races are longer on weekdays before 5:00p, for the same price. Yes, cart racing is expensive, but they have a variety of deals that can make it more affordable. On our last visit, we tried axe throwing - it's fun too! There are decent food and drink options here, so it's got everything you need to have a seriously fun day. I try to present the good and the bad, so having covered a lot of good: We have had encounters with a couple of rude employees (but far more of them have been nice). And they need to do a better job of keeping up the karts; there were seatbelt issues on several karts that I recently drove, and one kart had the front cowling pushed back so far that my fingers were squashed against the steering wheel in turns. Sometimes a kart didn't want to start. Etc. All signs of a lack of proper inspection and maintenance.

I personally can't say I share their enthusiasm, but we continue to come because they enjoy it. That said, I honestly don't understand the recent price increase when the overall experience and facilities haven't improved. For one bike for a 10-year-old, we paid $30, which feels pretty steep for what you actually get. The track itself may be enjoyable for the kids, although I personally think the tracks could be better, especially compared to others throughout the state. Either way, the amenities and overall experience for spectators simply don't justify the increased cost. There are extremely limited shaded areas for parents and spectators. There's basically one small area with shade in a large, wide-open space where most people are sitting in direct sun. More shaded seating would make a huge difference. And the bathrooms are a major issue. The porta-potties are consistently disgusting, there wasn't even toilet paper available for the women. That is a pretty basic amenity to expect at a facility that is charging admission. I also honestly don't remember seeing a trash can anywhere, which makes the lack of cleanliness even more frustrating. I could understand an increase in price if there had been meaningful improvements to the facility. For example, there is plenty of room for at least a couple of pavilions since the tracks are spread out, or even just some additional benches and shaded seating. Cleaner, properly stocked bathrooms, additional porta-potties, and adequate trash cans would also go a long way toward improving the experience. But as far as we can tell, literally nothing has changed. And this isn't a complaint from someone who showed up once and had a bad experience. We've been coming here for years, and I actually left a review two years ago with the exact same complaints about the dirty and unstocked porta-potties. Two years later, we're still dealing with the same issues. The kids want to continue coming, but if you're going to increase the price, then the quality of the amenities and overall experience needs to increase as well. At $30 for one kid to ride one bike, I just don't feel the cost reflects what you're getting. Hopefully some of that additional revenue can actually go toward improving the facilities and making IMI a better experience, not just for the riders, but for the parents and spectators who spend their time and money there too.

Bikers, walkers, & runners seek solace on the rolling dirt paths. It's a great spot to catch a peek at large birds of prey, prairie dogs, and wild cactus. There are also resident cattle that are alternated between many of the fenced in nearby open spaces. Point being if you pass through a gate be sure to close it securely behind you. A lovely spot to get some steps in without the crowds or incline you can find at many other spots in Boulder.

Each racer got two 12 lap races, food & drink, one hour reserved seating, arcade tokens & top finishers got medals - plus all racers got to race together with a reserved time. The price was about $80 per racer. We paid separately for additional food for spectators. These go carts are electric, so no smell & pretty quiet. A few things to note, racers need to be at least 48 inches tall & if you have more than twelve racers you then split into two groups. Also, K1 has an Arrive & Drive option for just racing, it's first come first serve. The day we went was for a birthday. After checking in racers registered & signed waivers after which they got balaclavas & helmets. Instructions were given but it was rather hard to hear. Our racers had a blast...they loved it - it was a great experience. Right after racing our lunch was ready, it was served buffet style. We choose Cheese & Pepperoni Pizzas, BBQ & Buffalo Chicken Wings & soft drinks. There were no salad or vegan options. The pizza was good, however the wings were even better & delicious. Since we were a big group we had a private party room. The only outside food allowed was dessert. Our party ran smoothly, the staff was friendly & very helpful. All in all a great time!

The ranch is owned by the Prince family, and has been since 1992. They can accommodate over 40 guests, but you would never know that there were that many people in the ranch because their attention to detail and guest obsession is top notch. Everything they do is all about that single guest. All of the ranch hands are top notch. They excel in character, respect, and manners for all of the guests. The ranch activities range from horseback riding, to skeet shooting, to fly fishing and much more. Almost all of those activities are included in the package, except white water rafting and massages. The owners, Christine and Dickie Prince, make sure the experience lives up to each and every guest's expectation. Each horseback ride is different and exciting. The chief wrangler, Madii, paired up each guest with the perfect horse for the week, and honestly, it was a magical week. At the end of the week, they hold a guest rodeo, where each of the guests compete against one another in events like barrel racing, pole bending, and keyhole racing. All in all, it is a very exciting trip. I brought my wife and my two grown children to this ranch and they were drawn in to its charm and, frankly, we were all sad to see the week end. We were treated like family the entire time we were there and have already committed to return next year. While we were there, we discovered this ranch was chosen by USA Today as the #1 dude ranch in America. We researched 14 ranches before picking this one and we agree with USA Today. If you are looking for the perfect family vacation away from the commercialism that is typical of all inclusive vacations, I highly recommend Cherokee Park Ranch. Their attention to our needs and genuinely caring to ensure we were happy and taken care of the entire time during our event was outstanding. The kids absolutely loved the trampolines, the snowboard lessons, and the skatepark. I have thrown quite a few birthdays now for my two boys, and this was probably the best we've had thus far. Each kid was raving about it and can't wait to come back. I am definitely going to come back with the kids (and maybe without them too).
