So the other day I had errands to run in the deep south suburbs. On the drive down my car started…read moreto have the shakes and making peculiar sounds. So I pulled off the highway and onto the first exit available. It's been a trying time with my Suby and it all stems from poor repair work at supposed Subaru authorized repair shops. That is it's own review which I'll detail later. So here I am with a car that is making all sorts of noises and many of the indicator lights are flashing. When this happens in a Subaru, the onboard system detects a flaw and wants the driver to report to a mechanic quickly. I had a choice of getting the car towed elsewhere or opting to finding a new service close-by my location. (I have had terrible, lousy experiences using Berman Subaru and did not want to use them by any means. Even though they were closer than other options. ) I chose to do the latter and by chance found this shop. TBH, it's been a minute since I have used an 'around the corner' mechanic shop. Based on quick looks of the exterior the shop doesn't give off the impression of 5 star quality. But due to a couple reviews by Yelpers I know, decided to check them out. Their lot is full of cars. Despite that, the manager asked me to pull into the driveway as best as possible. He asked me to sit inside their office as his mechanics took time to diagnose the problem. Initially they thought they could take care of the problem that afternoon. But after chatting with parts shops, they needed to keep the car at least a day to receive parts and finish the repair. Since I was leaving the car overnight, I asked if they could inspect the mufflers. I had had replacement completed at another shop and those guys incorrectly hung the mufflers which now gave off a loud rattling sound which occurred in and outside of the vehicle. The manager said they would take care of it and quoted me for the initial repair services. When I picked up my Suby I noticed a 'feel' I had not had in some time. A feeling of what my car is usually like but now, it was operating effectively and best of all, that pesky rattling from the new mufflers was gone! (Side note; on a Subaru there are two options for muffler replacement. OEM or after market. OEM parts are uber expensive. Their aftermarket counterparts are almost 40% less cost. No difference in zoom or horsepower. However, some would have us thinking that the aftermarket parts aren't quite fitted/ built the same and therefore the replacement shops should not be liable if, ____ insert any bs here. ie the previous shop said, hey, lessor cost parts means we weren't able to hang the mufflers as perfectly as the original. The exhaust sound was so loud it echoed inside the cabin as it did outside. It got louder when the air conditioning was on. I took it back to the muffler shop repeatedly because of the loud sound. The mufflers would shake when turning, which gave me an uneasiness. Because, if parts are rattling and shaking, that can cause other problems with the operation of the vehicle.) So.. I am happily pleased with their services and associated costs. Before leaving on day one, they gave me an estimated cost which was updated when I retrieved my ride. Based on the repair costs from Berman Subaru and another north side Subaru authorized repair shop, I saved a whole bunch of $moola$. Even though it's a bit of a trek from my area of town, I'd consider them for my future needs.

I purchased a certified pre owned Acura MDX Type S with less than 7k miles on 7/25. I was lowballed on my trade. My trade had low miles and looked new still. Had one small dent on the hood, they tried to say that was the reason they gave me thousands less. They put that car on their lot, didn't repair it! That's not the worst part. The day I took delivery, I pointed out interior pieces that were damaged, the car was filthy as well. Stained seats, carpet showed stains from snow, window were filthy. Miguel my salesman did his best to clean it but, it still wasn't good. I purchased a 70k vehicle, why wasn't it cleaned properly. Two days after having the vehicle I noticed a roaring noise from the brakes. Day after that my infotainment system started to freeze, go dark, not function and wouldn't connect to my phone. I went to the dealership and spoke with Sergio the finance manager who assured me all my concerns would be addressed. He called the service manager, they had me make an appointment to drop my car off, this was on Wednesday 7/29. On Friday 7/31 I dropped off my vehicle and was given a loaner. Was also an MDX so I was okay with that. Jason told me they'd be in contact. A few days went by and I heard nothing, so I attempted to call Jason. I left a voicemail, never got a call back. I called the next day, a young lady took a message and said she give it to Jason, no call back. I called again after work, finally got Jason. Told me the technician could not figure out what was wrong with my infotainment system, he had also called Acura support. Jason told me he'd call me the next day, which was Thursday or Friday with an update. He never called. On Saturday I called the finance manager, asked can he get me an update on my vehicle. He texted me back. Didn't even call me, to say Jason said he tried to call you twice. I said I never received a call from anyone at McGrath. Finance manager never text back after. I finally got a text from Jason saying their phone was acting up. He said they were going to replace my infotainment system. Still needed to do the other repairs and after have my car detailed. All of that took a week. Yesterday, Friday 8/14 I received a text my vehicle was ready. I was excited. My car spent more time at the dealership than in my possession and it's almost time to make my first payment. I get there and was told the brakes were not done. Jason told me via text that the technician found corrosion on the rotors but, they wouldn't replace them. For me to monitor them and if they get worse, bring my car back. Bring my car back after it sat here for two weeks? At this point I just wanted my car and wanted to get out of there. I open the door and my excitement turned to confusion. The car was never detailed as promised. The interior looked exactly the same as when I dropped it off on 7/31! I called Jason over and asked why wasn't the detail done. You told me it would be done after the technician completed the work so it wouldn't get dirty. His reply, our detail guys gave it a courtesy cleaning! WHAT!!! that is not what was promised. He said, let me talk to the manager. Came back and said, well they said the car was detailed prior to delivery. I showed him everything again and asked does this car look like it was detailed to you? He replied, I can only do what they tell me. You can talk to the managers. I just shook my head, got into my vehicle and drove away. I have owned a couple Acura's prior that I purchased and had serviced at McGrath Acura Westmont, my cwr buying experiences were great and the service was excellent, every time. I went to McGrath Morton Grove because it was near my job. and I figured same name should be the same level of service, I was so wrong. What should have been happiness and excitement over my new vehicle, turned quickly into the worst experience I have ever had. Only reason I gave two stars is because Miguel my salesman tried to make my experience the best that he could. Should have followed my first mind and went to McGrath Westmont.

Accidents are no fun, but especially when it's your first and having to go through the process of…read moredealing with insurance and figure out where to go to get your car fixed. After doing quite a bit of research on several shops nearby, a lot of these insurance recommended shops felt like high turnover and didn't seem specialized for Lexus vehicles. I even made a point to call the nearest Lexus dealership and they recommended what felt like a random "mom n pop" shop. As a last resort, I ended up going through the Lexus website where I found Boyce was one of just a handful of Lexus certified shop in the Chicagoland area. After some initial conversations with Kyle and Josue, I could tell they were considering many different aspects of different safety features that could have been damaged from the rear impact collision. This attention to detail sold me, and although I had to wait a couple weeks to bring the car in for repairs I was convinced they wouldn't miss anything during repair. From the minute I decided to go with Boyce, it was pretty much smooth sailing. Boyce took care of any necessary correspondence needed with my insurance company, scheduled Enterprise Car rental to pick me up from the shop, and were very responsive to any calls or emails checking on status. On completion of repairs, I came in to pick up my car which looked pretty close to brand new, however I had noticed some new damage to the driver's side door which wasn't there before. Luckily, Boyce takes hi res photos of the vehicle before taking in and were able to confirm they were at fault. While it was inconvenient to have to bring my car in a second time, I'm just glad Jim was able to confirm and take care of the damages and 2nd rental vehicle. That was very professional, honest, and detail oriented. Knock on wood I don't need to ever come back for repairs, but if I do I know who to call. 'Til next time, cheers!
