This review is way overdue! I'm a happy a client of Michelle's for about 2 years now. When I first met Michelle, I asked her to turn my hair from reddish/orange from a box color to a platinum blond. She politely explained that doing so will be detrimental to the health of my hair and she instead recommended that she do it gradually with babylights (after a color correction) and with an ash blond instead of platinum. It would take about a year to gradually take me to the desired color, but if I were willing and patient, it will be worth it for the sake of my hair. I really appreciated her perspective and decided to trust her expertise. I'm glad I did. Here are photos from my first visit in November 2019, to one year later, and to today (she just did a refresh of my color this morning!) I love how my hair looks and, more importantly, how it feels. Where do I begin.... Michelle has been doing my hair for 5 years. I trust this woman with my life at this point. Before Michelle I bounced from stylist to stylist no one could get my hair ash blonde. I went to stylists all across California from the Bay Area to LA. Michelle is a magic worker. My hair is naturally very dark and she always manages to lift me to a perfect ash blonde with no damage. Five stars on Yelp are not nearly enough! Michelle has been cutting my hair (every 6ish months) and my husband's hair (every 4 weeks) for the past year and a half. We are both extremely meticulous and particular about our hair. Michelle does an amazing job listening to what we want and giving us her opinion about what would look best. I gave Michelle about 20 inspiration photos that were all fairly different, and she took them all and made something even better. She also was able to easily incorporate the flower comb I wanted to wear. My hair was a work of art! For wedding makeup: I usually wear light makeup about once a week, so I didn't want to look completely different for the wedding. I have a *lot* of hair and wanted to get foilayage, which is already time consuming when you don't have 2+ feet of never-dyed east Asian locks. She cheerfully spent all day (8+ hours!) on me, including bleaching my black hair and mixing different colors of red and purple hair dye to have enough to actually cover everything. She could easily have saved herself some time by taking a heavier hand with the bleaching, but that's not how she does things. And she gave me a highly-educational crash course on chemistry and how to care for my gorgeous new hair. Michelle Zhang is a both a wonderful hairstylist and person. She has been my hairdresser for over a year now and has helped tame my very frizzy unruly hair. Her haircuts are outstanding, and she takes the time to really give a haircut that is not cookie cutter, but personalized. She thinks out of the box, which is especially helpful for somebody who does not have picture perfect hair. She has also spent time to give me tips and show me how to do fun, simple updos. I have a 16 year old son who now goes to her as well. He has outgrown the barber shop boys haircut, and was quite upset back in March after a particularly bad one. I decided to take him to Michele, as his self-esteem was a little crushed after the bad haircut. She spent an hour on his hair making sure it was perfect. He was so happy afterwards; the past several months have been quite challenging for him given the COVID pandemic. He has had very little social outlet recently, and for a 16 year old, a bad haircut followed by home haircuts by his very inexperienced parents does not help. It almost brought me to tears to see him feel so happy and confident after his haircut (any parent of a teen knows how devastating a bad haircut can be). One other thing to note is that I respect and appreciate Michele's attitude about taking the pandemic seriously; she has many precautions in line including masks, temp taking, and allowing only one person in her shop at a time.
