Michelle has been my hair stylist for the past 6 years and she is absolutely amazing at what she does!! She really takes the time to get to know you and your hair, to consult with you what style and service you should get, and works with you to determine what colors or cuts would look best on you. She uses only the highest end hair products and you can tell she truly cares about her clients and she really loves what she does. I love her work so much that even when I moved to Seattle I continued to fly back to California just so she could keep doing my hair as I don't trust anyone else with my hair. Michelle is such a sweet and kind hearted person and she is so talented with hair. She's truly the best!!
I wish we took a before picture to show how much Michelle transformed my hair and brought it back to life. I had a huge black hole from my hair growing out for almost a year and we cut off a lot of the lighter areas since I was in desperate need of a chop, so I knew we weren't going to get as ashy as my previous session--don't get me wrong, Michelle is great but she's not a magician lol, that's why maintenance appointments are important!! I know I can't be the only one who has gone to a salon where you loved your hair at first but then you realize it isn't that great...this is my fourth time seeing Michelle and this has never been the case with her because I *still* love my hair days later. Hell, I still love my hair in the other pictures I've posted from our previous appointments throughout the last couple years! This is why I'll continue to go to Michelle...she never disappoints!
This review is way overdue! I'm a happy a client of Michelle's for about 2 years now. When I first met Michelle, I asked her to turn my hair from reddish/orange from a box color to a platinum blond. She politely explained that doing so will be detrimental to the health of my hair and she instead recommended that she do it gradually with babylights (after a color correction) and with an ash blond instead of platinum. It would take about a year to gradually take me to the desired color, but if I were willing and patient, it will be worth it for the sake of my hair. I really appreciated her perspective and decided to trust her expertise. I'm glad I did. Here are photos from my first visit in November 2019, to one year later, and to today (she just did a refresh of my color this morning!) I love how my hair looks and, more importantly, how it feels. Michelle is an amazing and caring professional, and I can't sing her enough praises. I highly recommend her.
I have been with Michelle for two years. Following her from redwood city to San Mateo Sola. She did puple mix highlight and balayage on me, the best color I have received for so many years. She is perfectional, creativity, easy talk to and also very sweet. Spending time with her, can tell she is seriously and care about her clients. She always careful listening what I want and give great suggestion. She did makeup on my friend, very natural and elegant look. I will come her for makeup,too. Michelle is amazing! I became Michelle's client a few years ago when looking for a local hair stylist in the Redwood City area, and have since then followed her to her own salon in San Mateo. Michelle knows hair and it absolutely shows in her art (check out her IG for samples!). Along with her craft, her passion, professionalism, and overall warmth will bring you back time after time. Also, Michelle's prices are fair and you will absolutely get what you pay for. My highlight is Michelle's great hair and make up for my wedding! Due to COVID, my wedding was postponed 3 times since 2020 and finally happened this March 2021. Through all the changes and postponements, Michelle was flexible and rolled with punches with us. When we finally were able to have the wedding, Michelle and assistant came through, went above and beyond with being COVID safe, and did amazing work! I received so many compliments on my skin, make up, and hair - all thanks to Michelle! In regard to COVID safety, Michelle is ontop of all the latest guidelines and regulations. You will have to mask up during your appointment and fill out a health survey prior to it. Overall, you will feel safe and at ease. She is a creative perfectionist with hair and is highly skilled and knowledgeable of hair and colors. She's not just tour stylist, she will become your friend too! Before I make appointment with Michelle, she ask me sent her a picture about my current hair and what the color I am looking for. She responded me really quick. She is Working in a private studio; very relax and nice, which is what I like. Michelle is knowledgeable and sweet, really listen what I want for my hair. Watch her doing magical painting on my hair, can tell she is very passion about what she does. I love the Ash balayage she did for me. She also recommend great product for me to use at home, and smells so good. I am glad I found her. I will recommend her to everyone. Very exciting for my next session.
I am so happy that I found Michelle!! I suffer from premature grays right at the front where it is extremely visible. I was just not ready to fully embrace the grays and letting them grow out. Box color dyes and whole hair toning was good the first month but as my hair grew out it just became more pronounced. I reached out to Michelle and she was able to evaluate my hair and work with my previous color job to blend everything in. She created this beautiful ash tone for my hair that will help hide my grays even as the color and hair ages. She works with high quality products and care about hair health. Even after a five hour hair appointment, my hair feels healthier coming out than before! Michelle is also such a treat to hang out with, she made the five hour appointment fly by with her funny anecdotes and jokes. She is extremely punctual and good about responding to text to set up appointment. She has 10 years of experience under her belt, she knows many different types of hairs and how certain dyes work. If you're looking for a hair color makeover or just a refresh of your current hair, definitely recommend Michelle!
Michelle came recommended by a friend, and did not disappoint! Awhile ago I did "all over" pink color with constant root touchups, but the pandemic made it too hard to come in. I started to grow in my roots, but I didn't like the look (see before pic). I needed a hair colorist to come fix my look! Michelle does not do all over color because it is damaging and tricky. I appreciated working with her because she showed me what was possible with all over baby lights & color instead. I like being able to get lots of color, but a better "grown out" look as well. It's also nice to give my roots a break too. I recommend Michelle for this look! Thank you!
I've been going to Michelle now for five years. Her expertise and technique have only improved. My hair is stubborn, thick, asian, and has been through box dye, Ariel red, and more , but Michelle has always found a way to make it beauty with the LEAST amount of damage possible. She is open and upfront about what can be done, listen to her you wont regret it! Her baby lights and balayage are the BEST! She always takes care of me and i will continue to go to her. I love how Michelle got my hair done. She is so professional, and detail oriented. Not like other salons. She applied the treatment/ hair dye on my hair very attentive. She also gave you opinions to guid you which color or which way is better for the result. The studio is very clean and nice. And the products she use is a high end brand from Italy. It gave me a very gorgeous shine and softness after my hair dyed. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to get your hair done!
Michelle transformed my hair! I came to her last minute when someone prior had highlighted my hair & I wasn't happy with the result. Michelle is not only accommodating on time, she does amazing work. She fixed my prior highlights which was supposed to be a balayage and turned it into what I originally asked for. I will never trust anyone else with my hair. Price is very responsible for the great work she does. I highly recommend her!

Where do I begin.... Michelle has been doing my hair for 5 years. I trust this woman with my life at this point. Before Michelle I bounced from stylist to stylist no one could get my hair ash blonde. I went to stylists all across California from the Bay Area to LA. Michelle is a magic worker. My hair is naturally very dark and she always manages to lift me to a perfect ash blonde with no damage. I don't know what her secret it but I went from sending her pictures of how I want my hair to giving her full control over my hair. She is the best in the area no doubt. Every time I sit down in her chair she's telling me about a new technique she is learning and picking up. She is always studying and trying to grow, she is a true professional & such a kind human being. I'm moving to Los Angeles next year and will still come up here specifically for my hair appointments with Michelle. I recently went a bit darker for the winter and she SLAYED that too. Michelle is so talented, friendly, and thorough. I fully trust her with my hair because she does such an amazing job each time. What I like especially is how she makes sure as your hair grows out, the cut/color will still look amazing. She's a wizard at balayage and color. Went to see Michelle for babylights and a haircut and I am SO unbelievably happy with the results! This was my second time going to see her and I definitely plan on becoming a long term client. She answered all of my questions, giving me advice on how to take the best care of my hair and color, and she is an absolute blast - so funny, easy to talk to, and sweet! The hours really flew by. I've been going to Michelle for about three years now and wouldn't trust anybody else with my hair. I'm obsessed with dying my hair so I am very grateful of her extensive knowledge of hair care and color. She is always very straight forward with me on what to expect and what my hair can or can't handle and always does an absolutely amazing color job. I have been going to Michelle for about 4 years now and she is so amazing with bayalage. I tried another hair salon in February and they messed up my hair and dyed it totally grey with the wrong base color and tried desperately do fix it but my hair turned out orange. I went to Michelle on Thursday and she completely saved my life and I'm not exaggerating. She pretty much got rid of my base orange and fixed the rest to get the icy yet buttery blonde that I wanted. This was my 4th time balayaging my hair with Michelle and I love it! She makes a 3h hair appointment so much fun, and if you inadvertently fall asleep (as I've done a couple times ), she'll continue to work without waking you. She'll also treat your hair at the end so it feels healthier than it did before the dye! My go-to person for balayage and haircuts. read more

Five stars on Yelp are not nearly enough! Michelle has been cutting my hair (every 6ish months) and my husband's hair (every 4 weeks) for the past year and a half. We are both extremely meticulous and particular about our hair. Michelle does an amazing job listening to what we want and giving us her opinion about what would look best. She is so patient and takes her time for each and every haircut. Maybe more importantly: she is an _amazing_ formal hair and makeup artist. Michelle did both my hair and makeup for my wedding (June 2019), and it was everything I could have dreamed up and more! For wedding hair: I wanted my hair to be unique but also timeless. I gave Michelle about 20 inspiration photos that were all fairly different, and she took them all and made something even better. She also was able to easily incorporate the flower comb I wanted to wear. My hair was a work of art! For wedding makeup: I usually wear light makeup about once a week, so I didn't want to look completely different for the wedding. Michelle gave me a full face of makeup, with great coverage, but everything looked natural and felt lightweight. I would recommend Michelle to anyone! She is passionate about continuously improving and learning new techniques, and she truly cares about her clients. On top of all of that, she's incredibly friendly and so sweet! read more

Michelle was awesome! Very professional and passionate about what she does! It was so cool watching her work and seeing the end result- I loved it! She did a balayage ombré and hair cut for me and I couldn't be happier! She was able to lift most of my box dye color and made my hair beautiful. Worth every penny and I'll definitely be back again.
