I walked into Vertigo earlier today because my daughter's bangs had just been butchered by the person who has done a great job on my hair for years. My daughter specifically asked for "V bangs" and my person said they could do it after seeing a photo of the look I sent them days ago. The end result was awful and my daughter was devastated. She starts school on Monday and was sick at the thought of the first day. I paid for the cut plus a small tip to save face and left. Vertigo was the second salon I walked into and Ivan immediately greeted me even though he was washing a client's hair. I told him what had just happened and all but begged for his help. He asked if my daughter was with me so I grabbed her from the car and Ivan seemed genuinely shocked at the poor quality. He asked if we could come back at 4pm so we did. I now see that he closes at 3pm on Saturdays so this was an absolute courtesy. He fixed them as best he could and made my daughter feel 10x better about starting school. Ivan gave her his card and told her to come back in 3 weeks and he'd fix them again. When I tried to pay he refused payment and said he just wanted to help. WOW! Ivan is an absolute angel and now has 2 new loyal clients. I will recommend him to anyone just based off of this initial interaction and am already looking forward to my first visit with him.

I am disappointed that Ive suffered traumatic hair loss. Ive lost half of my head of hair here at…read moreVertigo. Ive asked for a refund and been denied. I had a 3 year business relationship/friendship with Jonathan the owner now for over 3 years. My first experience with overprocessed hair loss was with his stylist named Chris who works on the weekends. He was new to Vertigo leaving his previous salon and bringing me with him. After Chris destroyed my hair and refused a $200 refund himself, Johnathan offered to correct my hair to compensate. Weve been recovering my hair these past few years. Until this Feb I noticed some loss, but I continued trusting him. Then in April I returned. I was shocked when he was walking me to rinse in thd sink he stated (while processing the lightener for my hair) " lets not leave it on that long this time". Which I hadnt even been told thats what happened "last time" in Feb. Now here I was in April when he said that. I was devastated when I discovered HOW MUCH hair was lost over a holiday attending an event, I attempted to style my hair and I noticed the breakage with small pieces sticking out all around my scalp that had been broke off and lost from Feb and now April. There was absolutely no communication whatsoever from Jonathan and I couldn't understand why. Why couldnt he either say hey "I think this is a bad idea",or "I want you to know there was significant hair loss, I apologize heres your money back and if you wish we can come up with a repair plan". I would have jumped at the chance valuing his honesty and genuine remorse, in a heartbeat. Instead Ive been forced to discover this by myself on the night of an event. Its horrible to endure this by the hands and person you trusted. Ive sent multiple messages to him just asking for a refund attempting to move on even without any explanation, apology, or accountability. The first damage in Feb was $200, and again in April $200, but Ive been willing to take half. He refuses to respond to me or my Zelle requests which tells me hes blocked me or is just hoping Ill go away. Its ironic that Chris brought me to Vertigo and damaged my hair, and he also refused me a $200 dollar refund. Now Ive left Vertigo with half the hair I had, and refused a $200 refund again. Im posting this so that others do not have to suffer the experience the same as I did. And that the awareness of this may be spoken for and heard.

If you can snag an appointment, book it IMMEDIATELY and thank me later. If you want to know why I say that, details below. My hair was long and unruly, but not anymore. My color and highlights had grown out, and you could see all of my grays. Johnny covered my gray hair, AND with sort of black magic, blended it in PERFECTLY while simultaneously making my old highlights look like this intentional, dope AF ombre. That's cool enough by itself, but the cut looks INCREDIBLE! He cuts using the latest techniques, so my hair has this amazing, uber natural movement that fits MY face. You can see the focus on his face. It's like he's looking at all of your hair and the individual strands at the same time. Johnny's studio has such a chill vibe, and you're his only client, so there's no double booking. You're his only focus for the whole appointment. Lastly, he educates you on different products and how to make your hair look awesome when you're at home. I'll close by saying that he's a gem, and the cost for this amazing advice is that I always get first dibs on appointment slots. ;)

Other friends of mine had great success with the treatment so I knew it could be done! I'll admit it was a little bit of a hassle trying to make an appointment but after 3 or 4 messages back and forth Cathy was able to get me in prior to my big birthday weekend in LA. My first impression of the salon was average. It was small, no one was there handing out champagne, and I don't think there was a receptionist. Hmmm... But as soon as Cathy came out to greet me (on time!) my reservations ended. She was professional, personable, and expressed concern about my comfort every step of the way. Her method was a little different than what I had before, but it turned out WAY better than my previous treatment. She also fixed this weird ledge in one of my grown out layers with a good cut so my hair fell beautifully. If you have researched the Brazilian blowout at all, you should know it does NOT make your hair straight. It does eliminate frizz and smooth the cuticle to make your hair look healthier with fewer fly-aways. It makes straightening with a blow dryer or flat iron way easier, too. It's been about 4 weeks since my treatment and I am still very pleased - it looks better than my last treatment did the first week. I would definitely recommend Cathy to my friends and will be back soon to see her for a touch up. She gives great discounts for return visits too! Also forgot to mention one of the other stylists is like a baker-extraordinaire... she came around with lovely lollipop cakes, YUM!

What I didn't love was the mess in my crown that was throwback to metal bands hair. My bad hair behavior & habits of trashing my hair harder faster pussycat more than Vince Neil had trashed hotel rooms was catching up to me. All the combing & detangling and STILL the painstaking hair loss when I'd finally go to wash my very own motley Crüe I grew out of my scalp. Enter lisa Turley. She's a true full blown hair Wonderland taking on way more than a typical hairstylist. No, no fried ends no asymmertical layers, no previous hairstylist's botched work. Worse yet lisa was dealing with a woman who had bad hair care habits that had been embedded at her cellular level. I was given much more than a deep conditioning & fab layers hair shaping. I was educated and was shown how my hair could wear with other suggestions for everyday look that would render a kinder more gentler (healthier) scalp. I learned how much hair care has changed in 20 years. Was shown how to embrace & even love the dynamic duo of a roll brush & hair dryer! I was shown how to use products and what to expect with my new shampoo conditioner & hair conditioning oil. My first two visits to lisa Turley salon was nothing short of top notch. I'm so happy to read this recurring opinion in other lisa Turley salon reviews because top notch service at LTS is a constant. Still, i wasn't sure I'd keep going to LTS because of my own fear to relinquish my bad hair habits. Ever committed to the pursuit healthy hair follicles lisa had the (un)pleasantries of getting to the "root" of my unhealthy hair habits & gently offering/reminding me of alternatives/solutions that were all within my powers. My third visit was transformational inside & out. What patience & dedication lisa has to deconstruct old bad hair habits & reprogram with healthy hair ways! Going to LTS is like going to therapy: one knows in their gut what must be done but enlists a therapist to help foster necessary change. Plus with LTS I receive a great conditioning, shape, and style. You see? LTS IS transformational both inside and out. Lisa was understanding & easy going when I disclosed I purchased a cheaper in price (and apparently quality) product similar to one she retails. I was hoping for the same result. Nope. The other product didn't deliver like LTS endorsed product in the least. She understood that I had to learn this "my way" and NVR did a "I told you so". My relationship with LTS is ongoing and more than satisfactory (ecstatic really). I can't imagine any one else making me feel good and shaping my hair like LTS.
