Last minute I decided to get a Keratin Treatment. I call color bar and they say can I please call you back. They did in 5 minutes and took me at 3 for a 3 hour procedure and close early on Wednesdays. Brielle Cook was my Stylist. Be reminded that I am old and feel horrible. My hair is over boxed dyed brittle frail and I needed a fix and to look like a star. I asked Brielle if she does magic and she laughed... Brielle is sweet, smart and a perfectionist. I've tried several places for blonde highlights around here and no one compares to Color Bar!! Extremely professional and clean. I have been going to Kerry for a long time now and she does an amazing job. I have seen some of the work the other stylists have done and they are great as well. This is the second time this has happened. Before my daughter's wedding, I went in for a Brazilian blowout and after explaining the horrible experience I had last time, that was then corrected, I said that the Level 1 stylist didn't do enough passes to take the frizz out of my hair. Like I said, the owner called and corrected the problem the first time, But costing me many hours. I figured since they were conscientious to keep a customer, I'd give them another chance before my daughter's wedding. $365 (including tip) later and my hair is frizzy again. I called, made an appt. to have it corrected, drove 30 minutes, and told it would be an additional $150 for product. That's $515 not including a tip for a Brazilian blowout, 2 days before my daughter's wedding. So I spent 4 hours and $365 for absolutely nothing. Shame on them. Never again!! Went to Color Bar yesterday for my appointment with Genevieve. When I walked in I was greeted by the receptionist who was very nice and called me by name. I was quickly taken to the back by my stylist where we discussed what we would do with my hair. Genevieve was wonderful! My hair was a mess when I went in (ombrè with pink and purple streaks) and she was sweet and willing to work with me. She was also very knowledgeable on the products she was using and answered all the questions I had about what she was using. I chose a merlot red color for my hair and after coloring it the bottom portion of my hair came out lighter than I wanted it to be (Due to my previous ombré). Genevieve was great and threw another layer of color on which in the end came out beautiful. I loved that she made a conscious effort to give me exactly what I had asked for. I have been to so many salons where stylists pretend like they don't notice color mistakes. Sometimes it doesn't come out right the first time, by no fault of the stylist but I loved how she corrected it. As for the salon itself, the place is beautiful. Very well kept and clean. They use Redken products which is right up there with some of my favorite products. The shampoo girl was AMAZING ! I'm sorry I forgot your name! She gave me a great head massage when washing and conditioning my hair. I was offered drinks (water,coffee,etc.) many times. Loved how comfortable it was being there. That being said, I made another appointment for 6 weeks from now. Can't wait to go back. Thanks Color Bar! read more

Super disappointed I have been a customer since they opened. I changed an appointment for my son was given a new time and stylist since it was a last minute change he wanted a fresh cut for his school picture. I was happy they were able to accommodate when we arrived for the appointment we were told the stylist went home and we were just out of luck mix up blamed on a new employee. I have spent thousands of dollars at this salon. They have just lost a customer. read more

I've been to quite a few different hair salons in the area to get highlights, using Groupon to try out salons. This was the best find yet! This is the only salon that I returned to without a coupon and that says a lot considering how much highlights cost! They are very knowledgeable and don't pressure you to buy products or add onto your visit. I recently had my hair done for the second time and want to share how wonderful this salon is. I found this salon online and based on reviews decided to make an appointment. The stylist I requested was not available. Lucky for me a wonderful stylist took me on for a full head highlights and haircut. I was behind getting my highlights done so her work was cut out for her. Her name is Jenn and she did an amazing job. She did exactly what I wanted. I left my longtime hairdresser because he just didn't care anymore. Not only did she do an awesome job, she took her time, and kept checking the foils to make sure each section developed properly. I can't say enough good things about Jenn without sounding redundant. She is the BEST stylist I have ever had. I also want to make note that the staff is excellent. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by first name and a big smile followed by what can get you to drink! Everyone in the salon is friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. My advice, make an appointment and don't look back. You won't be disappointed. read more

This is such a wonderful salon! I have had some pretty terrible salon experiences in the past (including some bleach mishaps that my never-dyed, never-bleached before medium brown hair was then turned straw yellow), and was apprehensive to get my hair done. Nonetheless, my split ends and overgrown balayage-like attempt from my previous hair stylist left me searching for a new salon. After weeks of searching, I found Color Bar 51 on instagram and after meticulously looking through all their photos, I felt comfortable scheduling an appointment with them. I am so glad I did, because I finally had that experience in the stylist's chair where you look in the mirror and think "wow, I really look great! This is the hair I've been wanting and describing." That first appointment was with Michael, who did a haircut and balayage, both of which came out beautifully. He seemed extremely knowledgeable about the different techniques for balayage painting (which is so different from my last experience: teasing my hair so much it was breaking and slathering some bleach and foils on it and letting it turn yellow!). I have since come back several more times for cuts and hair painting, always leaving happier than the last time. I have moved out of state, but every time I am in the NJ Atlantic Highlands area visiting family or friends, I make sure to squeeze in an appointment at Color Bar 51 to get my hair done. Everyone here is extremely educated in their art, and the prices reflect that. It isn't cheap getting your hair painted and cut, but I promise you it is worth the price. I am indeed a fan of this salon! It was worth the drive and I felt right at home. Gabby did a great job on my hair removing the majority of the orange in it and I was extremely satisfied. She worked on my hair from start to finish and she presented the way my hair would be done through a journey, and I can not wait to see the final product in sessions to come! I went to Color Bar 51 a couple of times and was less than impressed. I did not find the results worth my time or my money. They also try to get you to buy products throughout your entire session, just to try to bump your total up even higher. I went to a different salon that was way cheaper and got MUCH better results. Not worth the hype. read more

After going to New York for a cut and color, I was no longer pleased with the way my color was turning out. I wanted to go to a Redken salon (good quality product). I was nervous since I had just got my hair cut short and it was very dark in the back, verses blonde. I booked a fully head of highlights, so that there was plenty of time. When I got there my stylist, Jessica, looked at my hair and suggested highlights plus a base. I was nervous, since I typically only do highlights and have never done a base, but I decided to go with it. She consulted another stylist on the color, which gave me more reassurance. My hair turned out phenomenal and I booked another appointment. This salon uses very good products and are true experts in Redken products. Also, they give a very good/true full head of highlights; not skimpy. I highly recommend this place for anyone with color issues or simply want a good color. read more
