We have been using Color Age for over 30 years and have recommended then to many friends and family. We had always used them for window treatments. We recently bought a home and decided to keep with our tradition and give them our business. We had our oak floors re-finished by them as well as a carpet installed in our den. The carpet was laid and left with pulls in the corners that became worse with time. When I called to speak with the owner I was asked to send in pictures and he and a person from the carpet manufacturer came to my home and basically told me that my kids had caused the pulls. This was after they initially accused my vacuum of causing the pulls. Bottom line, they wound up cutting the pulls with scissors and went on their way.
I then a couple of months later started to notice the finish on my oak floors was peeling off. I contacted color Age and was again asked to send in pictures. I waited 2 weeks for someone to call me back which no one ever did. I then called back and spoke to Susan and was told they were too busy to look at the pictures and address it because they were short staffed due to vacations. She then proceeded to tell me that although Hector(the guy that did the work) told me to use vinegar and water on the floors, I caused the finish to come up by using a damp cloth on the floor. After telling her how ridiculous she sounded, she then asked me if water based poly was used. I explained that no one ever offered me a choice. Even if water based was used, the finish should last 5-7 years- this is one year later! She told me there was no reason to send anyone to look at the floors because they were not guaranteed. My husband called back and demanded someone come. Sal shows up and agrees that the finish is indeed coming up! He then tells me that because he hears my wood floors creaking, the wood must be shifting causing the finish to come off. He said that he is not an expert, but that was his guess. He would have Paul call me back to discuss fixing it with a "screen job". Ten days later and no call, I called them. Matthew said Paul was busy and he would have him call me back. Three hours later I receive a call back not from Paul- someone that I and my family and friends have used for many years, but from Matthew. Matthew said he was relaying a message for Paul that we needed to get out Sub-floors repaired and that there was nothing they were going to do. Mind you- the issue is happening on both floors of my home and in areas that are not high traffic. We have had a licensed contractor in and he basically told us that the floor was only done with one coat and they used cheap product. He then confirmed what we knew to be true- our sub floors are fine and he had never heard of anything so ridiculous in his 35 years of business. So we now have to pay to have our furniture moved, stored and our floors fixed by someone who knows what they are doing.
I also found out from friends that were recommended by me that they too were not happy with the work and more important, the customer service.
never again- horrible! read more
