On 4/17 I went to Midas in Thorndale for an auto inspection. They discovered an oil leak and said…read morethat I needed a new filter housing, which would cost over $400. This was a recommendation and not required to pass inspection. I took my car to a different local shop today (4/21) and was told that I only needed the gasket replaced, which is a $30 part, and less than $150 total for the part, labor, and oil change. Beware and get a second opinion if recommendations don't sound right. Also, my tag light bulb was out and they wanted to charge me $37 to replace it- $1.99 for the bulb and the rest was labor. This was required for the inspection so I told them that I would replace the bulb myself and come back for the inspection sticker. After I said that, they found a $30 coupon to apply to the service. Small things like light bulbs and wipers can be easily replaced, and you can save a lot of money doing these things yourself or having someone you know do them for you.

This place is awful. A scam and a sham. They towed every car out of the old kmart parking lot and…read morethen suggested they had put up signage all over the parking lot. I walked through the parking lot and could only find 2 signs, both very small. They were kind enough to only charge $250 to tow the car less than 1000 ft to their storage, as apparently they are able and allowed to charge more. They were also kind enough to inform me that the lot had been posted for a week and they've been watching the lot for a week before they started towing cars. "If they didn't do it, another towing company would and those people wouldn't have given us any breaks". Wow, I really felt the compassion. Thorndale isn't some huge metropolitan area. They must have towed a dozen cars out of that lot that are just decent hard working people trying to save a buck to get to work. No one there was trying to break any laws or get away with anything other than save not have to give Septa yet another $240 dollars a year for parking. I don't know how long they have been in business, but they just impounded a dozen cars of what could have been future customers. They could have put a flyer on the cars and announced this was now "This property is privately held and cars would be towed starting on such and such a day, Please consider using our towing services in the future!" I'd have sung their praises and used their towing company had the need arisen. Now they have a $3000 dollars in their pocket, but lost the future business of many potential customers.... from their neighbors. They care about their money, thats for sure. But they could have forged much greater good will had they shown a little heart toward a bunch of people that couldn't even find their little signs in the pre-dawn hours. I'll never use their towing services, nor anyone in my family, nor any friends that ever ask about local towing. But I'm sure they sleep well at night knowing they were within their rights and they did the right thing...

I brought my vehicle to Firestone for a routine oil change and left with a completely destroyed…read moreengine. What should have been one of the most basic services turned into a $10,000 nightmare. Immediately after the incident, the store clearly recognized something had gone wrong. They told me they would take care of it and even paid for a rental car. That alone speaks volumes. You don't cover rentals unless you know there's a problem. Now, after the fact, they have completely changed their story and are denying any responsibility. They've gone from "we'll take care of it" to "we did nothing wrong," leaving me stuck with a massive repair bill for damage that occurred under their care.

Always easy to schedule and have the car done at a decent time. Great service and staff.read more
