The crumb cake is to die for. It has the perfect balance between a moist cake and surgery crusted topping. My mouth is watering just typing this review! Don't pass that up when you go to Colonial bakery. This place is a must stop on your jersey shore to do list. Whether you're a Benny or a local Colonial bakery will give you a nostalgic taste of the jersey shore. The decor hasn't changed since their opening and neither has the quality of their pastries. All of their pastries taste like a different homemade, family recipe. One of the best things about the barrier island has been its ability to maintain the amount of mom and pop shops, and not sell out too much to commercialization. Colonial bakery fits the theme! Don't forget to also try their Sesame Street cookies and cup cakes, another scrumptious recipe with creamy creamy icing and perfect moist cake!

The best bakery around. They make the best jelly doughnuts and crumb cake. Be sure to try their rolls and cinnamon bread too.

When I went to pick it up and I saw they made a mistake they tried saying that I SAID happy birthday (why would I say that for an engagment party?) and I have in written emails of what i wanted on the cake. They offered to fix it, without a cake decorator present... and tried to give me this horrible monstrosity of a cake!! I wish they would have told me no cake decorator was present to fix it rather than someone who works behind the counter who isn't qualified to ice it. The workers who helped me, Kendra and Emily, ended up wiping the "happy engagement " with a different butter cream and tried to tell me its the same. You can clearly see they see differnt shades in the photo. The manager only offered half off after they ruined my cake and made me wait an hour only to be given this awful mess.

She was overwhelmed and said that it was their busiest time of the year and we just needed to wait for it to be out. She didn't ask for our name or check the status of our bagel. We continued to wait for our bagel but saw people ordering after us and still getting their sandwich order before I got mine. After now 30 minutes we asked one more time just for the status of the bagel. Lady at the register was extremely rude and told me I only had waited 15 minutes however I had the credit card time stamped. We overheard them speaking about how there was clearly a confusion and the order was never placed, and instead of apologizing for not checking on the bagel like we asked her to before, she rudely lied and loudly told us that we were only waiting for "17 minutes" and that it usually takes 20 minutes and implied we were being impatient except we were there for 35 minutes. She gaslit us into thinking we were being rude instead of just apologizing to us for the confusion. Bagel and cheesecake were excellent but customer service was very poor. I would recommend ordering ahead of time and just picking up.
