Have you ever wanted to try South American street food but have been a bit reluctant to travel by…read moreplane the +50 hours to get to the heart of South America? Now you don't have to thanks to Arepa, the ultimate restaurant for South American street food. This cozy little place isn't much to look at on the inside. It keeps things simple and minimalist. Posters stuck up with black tape, neon logo sign, black and white menu board. The dining areas are one large wooden table to share inside and three small tables outside. The menu is simple. Four different mains to choose from, each a corn dough pouch filled with wholesome and flavourful fillings. There is a vegetarian option, vegan option, chicken option and pork option, with four chooses for extra fillings. Four dollars extra will give you a generous side of fries. Easy, tasty, satisfying. Each table has its own napkin dispenser and bottle of chilli mayo and garlic aioli. Having the two greatest dipping sauces within arms reach truly defines heaven. We only made one of our corn pockets a combo, as one side of fries was enough for me and the wife. Was there an all out sauce war between the chilli mayo and garlic aioli? You bet. The chips were cooked right on point. A delightful crunch outside with hot fluffy... cassava! Not potato but cassava, which looks like white sweet potato but tastes and feels just like potato. I honestly thought it was potato chips but no... cassava. Our corn pockets came out in good time. They might look like something you'd have as a snack but believe me these hand held corn pockets will fill you up. My black beans and feta with guasacaca (mushy avocado) was amazing. The corn pocket held the filling firmly in place. The sharpness of the feta was subdued by the smoothness of the black beens. An absolute perfect balance of flavours. This place also offers a selection of canned beers and cider. I'm not much of a tinnies fan myself but at the end of the day beer is beer, be it in a bottle or a bucket. Got to try my first watermelon pilsner. It's just what you'd expect, beer with an undercutting watermelon flavour. I had no idea it could be done. Not sure I'd order it again but it was well worth the try. $42.50 for two corn pockets, one being a combo and two beers. At first I thought it was a bit steep but realised that the beers were $7 each. Would we come back? Try and stop us.

The food was the most flavorful I've had while visiting Sydney, and the beer I ordered was actually chilled. We ordered the arepas with prongs and the chorizo one. We had a side of sweet plantains and coleslaw. Everything was finger licking good. I 100% recommend this place. The service was friendly!

The margarita was unique with the mint flavor and it was more like a martini since there was no ice. We ordered the Bondi Pavillion which had shredded beef brisket, sweet plantain, black beans, cheese + chimmichurri. The beef brisket was cooked to perfection and the chimmichurri added amazing flavor to an already flavorful dish. Next up was the Chicken Bowl which had shredded chicken breast mixed with guacamole, rice, black beans, feta, sweet plantain, slaw, baby arepa and hogao. The shredded chicken and guacamole was cold which threw me off for a second, but it was incredible!! Don't even know what arepa or hogao is but I liked it lol. If you are ever in Bondi I highly HIGHLY recommend stopping by for dinner or lunch. This places makes me want to visit more of South America to experience even more amazing food.

Chimi churi cafè in Chatswood is the most instagrammable cafès we have come across. The owners,…read morepreviously of Local Embassy in Pyrmont have brought their game to the north. The cafè is hidden in the back streets but despite this, the cafe is very popular, which shows their food is bringing in a crowd. The cafe has a cool set up, with a number of indoor and outdoor tables, there are also a couple of communal tables. As you walk in there is a large mural painted on the wall of an interesting character, with a tweaked moustache which is a reflection of the interesting and quirky menu on offer. Then, a range of visually appealing plates started to arrive at the table for us to photograph and share. The signature being the black benedict which is a soft shell crab burger with squid ink hollandaise. The bun, a black brioche which gets its colour from charcoal. This dish is not only visually appealing, but also very tasty and unlike any burger we have tried before. For bacon lovers the 'lick my bacon' is right up your alley. A thick cut bacon steak, cue Homer Simpson drooling mmmmm bacon. This served on a freshly baked red striped croissant with a has brown and haloumi and a side 100% Canadian Maple Syrup. Need I say more? Other notable breakfast options were the Chimi Churi eggs. Poached eggs, labneh, chilli oil, Chimichuri dukkah sauce and freshly baked artisan bread. Keep an eye out for the Cola Bowl which will be a new addition to the menu. A tasty yogurt bowl served with toasted granola, fruit and for a bit of a twist a cola syrup drizzled on top. The lunch menu may not be as grammable, but tasty and had some healthy options available. The stuffed calamari with a bit of South American flair. This dish with a nice flavour combination of chicken mince, chorizo, chimichuri salsa with a tasty parsnip and beetroot cream. The seared tuna, another healthy option served with a pineapple salsa and nicely plated too. The lunch menu is not at all healthy, with Chimi Churi doing a decent mac and cheese with triple cheese pork and bacon. The fried chicken bites were also very more-ish and the seasoned chips that came with the chicken, unbelievably tasty. They also have some great options for those with a sweet tooth. The nutella french toast, nice and fluffy with fairy floss a mini jar of nutella and served with some fresh fruit. The pannacotta another beautifully plated dish, very photogenic. A nice sweet finish a textural dish with the smoothness of the pannacotta, the macadamia crumb, a airy sponge, sauced with the berry coulis. As mentioned one of the most grammable cafes we have been to. The owners are perfectionists and the menu is well balanced with something for everyone. The food is not only very photogenic, the food is also tasty. Worth travelling to Chatswood to try some cool dishes and to get some great shots for your instagram feed.

However, ignoring that, this cafe is awesome. Firstly, the coffee here is good. Not the best cafe you'll get but good enough to get a second cup. Which I did. It is a little bit lighter, so if you like a darker brew, might want to order a double shot - just a warning. The finest thing about this cafe is the food. Now, it is slightly on the 'smaller' portion side. But it is quite good. Everything we order was extremely tasty. And the staff here are extremely helpful and friendly.

Our drinks were out in 3-5 minutes and our food was out within about 5-7 minutes after. As soon as we finished we were given our checks to pay at the front. I think we were here for only 45 minutes and it was amazing! I started out with the iced strawberry matcha and my husband had their iced mocha. The iced mocha was good but the iced strawberry matcha was flawless. The strawberries were so fresh and the matcha was just perfect itself. Great combo together! My husband had the free range eggs on toast and I had the eggs Benedict. His was delicious but the eggs Benedict was amazing. The crispy kale really sold me as it was delectable in each bite. Eggs were poached to perfection and the truffle hollandaise was just delicious. Couldn't have had a better experience if we tried!

For a larger party, coming in with a reservation was convenient since they are pretty busy and change tables often. Service staff were efficient and very friendly. Ordering was easy as well. Their seasonal specials is definitely worth the look over. I had the peanut butter shake and although it didn't look it, it tasted very much like peanut butter in liquid form. I also got to try the summer breeze watermelon salad. That was refreshing. It had a mix of greens, dressing, feta and a crisp prosciutto. I've never had prosciutto served fried; it was delicious. The whole piece married well, and I wish I knew the background of how it was created. I loved every bite! Although the place was crowded, it can still be intimate. Besides indoor seating, they also have a patio and seating outside.
