I can't recommend Colmar Vet Hospital enough. I was nervous to find a great place for my first new pup to be cared for and I landed on a goldmine two months ago-just a week after bringing him home! My puppy gets so excited to go in there. Seriously! The staff are super friendly. They always seem to have a nice flow of business but are never too busy for me and my pup. Dr. Platt and all of the nurses and women there just LOVE the pets that come in and are so kind. I could swear that we are the most important people when we are there. Brought my very ill cat in prior to having him euthanized (diagnosed lymphoma, and now kidney issues) to get a second opinion on if there was anything else to be done to help him, as current vet wasn't really explaining much about it or offering much in the way of suggestions. Vet was hostile and uncaring. Walked in and said "I Looked over his medical records and I'll tell ya right now prognosis is not good." (We know that, but just wanted confirmation that our decision to let him go was fully warranted) Told me he had the "largest kidneys she's ever seen in all her years of practice! Went on and on describing how awful they were and how big and using her hands to describe the size repeatedly in an exagerated unnecessary way multiple times throughout the visit. Yes we get it, he's very sick we are absolutely heartbroken that's why we are here. "I mean they're SO big! They're taking over his whole abdomen!" Attitude was callus, heartless and cruel. I was sobbing and there was absolutely no empathy or caring at all. She actually told me "as hard as you think tomorrow is going to be (euthenasia appt) it's going to get much worse after that. The next day and afterwards you're going to think you see him coming around the corner, or see something of his and go through it again." Gee thanks! Then she turned on her heel and left the room, no "goodbye", no, "sorry about your cat" no, "they'll see you out front." nothing. Horrible treatment during one of the worst times of my life the day before loosing my beloved boy. read more

Took my cat to be groomed under sedation as suggested by this vet since he previously was very anxious, i did as recommended to ease it on my cat. After 6 hours I was asked to pick him up. No-one explained to me how the cat will be; groggy ,tired etc...they just gave me the cage and send me on my way...After arriving home i noticed that my cat could barely stand on his paws so i let him rest. He was out of it for 4 more hrs. The best part was that the grooming was so terrible and poorly done I cried. He shivered for hours and just slept. I felt horrible, next day I wrote an extensive email to the owner, who just basically blew me off by saying we can schedule a time to talk....no apology ....no follow up call...nothing....I was assured they are in business for long and are best of the best ...well judge for yourself based on the attached picture....never again. read more

This is a fantastic practice. I have seen both Dr. Platt and Dr. Clark and they are both excellent. Dr. Platt is wonderful with both my dog and cat, and has even offered to stay after hours to fit me in in a semi-emergency. She is patient, thorough, and very experienced. Dr. Clark, who does reptiles and small animals, is insanely knowledgeable and clearly loves what she does. Colmar Vet is not close for us, but we make the drive because it's worth it. Highly recommend Dr. Platt and her crew! p.s. the practice itself is new and state of the art. There is a dog run outside, plenty of parking, and lots of space in the waiting area. read more

Love Dr. Lynn Platt and her staff. I have two senior poodles and they both were very calm with her. They did not shake at all which is wonderful since animals are a better judge of character then us humans. As a matter of fact they even gave her kisses. Also had them groomed there and was more than pleased. They both came out with their tails wagging and looked great. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this practice and the staff. I rescued my dog and they were the vet the rescue sent me to. I went in not knowing what to expect, as I was leaving Dr. Platts office I asked them to call and transfer my older dogs records to Colmar and never looked back. My 'senior citizen' female (spayed) terrier ("Pepper") is a rescue from a 'puppy mill' after having been confined there for over 5 years. I've been with Pepper for the last 8-1/2 years --- in all that time, she has been VERY wary of new situations in general, and veterinary hospitals and groomers in particular. I took her to Colmar Veterinary Hospital on Monday, January 28, after she was injured in a 'grooming accident' on Sunday, January 27. Right after the accident, I phoned the Hospital's emergency line (a great feature in itself) and spoke with Dr. Lynn Myers, who was very caring and professional; she walked me through what needed to be done immediately for Pepper and set up my Monday appointment. On Monday, when we got there, Pepper was initially nervous, but, in a little while, calmed down and seemed to like her surroundings; this was new behavior for her. She was also less nervous when she went into an exam room, also a good sign. Her vet (Dr. Jeanne Scarola) treated her injury expertly, with a minimally invasive procedure, and the attending groomer (Erin) performed the equivalent of a 'spa makeover'. By the time we left, Pepper was delighted that she'd been brought there; her entire outlook on vets and groomers and vet hospitals was transformed, in a very good way. I can add that the staff was also attentive and responsive. Clearly, a 5 Star (at a minimum) experience. read more

Typically, most individuals have 2 types of visits at the Veterinary office: planned or emergent. I have had the opportunity to visit Colmar Veterinary Hospital for both types. First, I have to say, I travel over 60+ miles to bring my pets here. This is the most welcoming, pet friendly, environment I have visited to date. Dr. Clark, Dr. Myers, and Dr. Platt are phenomenal! It is amazing how dedicated each of these doctors are to their patients & families. Recently, and for the second time, Dr. Platt met me on a Sunday night to provide emergent care to my dog. Managing long term/chronic illness is stressful for everyone involved but she makes you feel at ease with her knowledge and compassionate approach. Dr. Platt stayed overnight to monitor my dog and provide the necessary intervention. She kept us up to date, arranged for next day consultations, and was quick to provide test results. The entire practice is patient/family centered and truly dedicated to the well being of animals within their care. During the very difficult and often frightening emergency visits, they are calming & reassuring. They educate you while providing treatment and talk you through every decision point. I have followed Dr. Clark to this new location because of her extensive bunny practice/experience. She too is one of the most compassionate individuals one will meet. While not every visit to this Veterinary hospital is planned/routine, they make time for you, treat you respectfully, and provide guidance related to treatment plans and interventions. We all need to feel that level of confidence when presenting our pets for routine or emergent health care. I would recommend this practice to everyone I know! I already have many times. They are truly wonderful! read more
