Dropped my dog off around 4 and went back at 6:30 hoping he would at least be on a table getting groomed. Instead I see two dogs who were just beginning to get groomed. I mentioned that I was told he would be done by 7. The guy turned around and said we said hopefully. I asked to have my dog back since I knew he was sitting in a cage in the back for over two and a half hours. It gives my dog anxiety to begin with. I was then going to be charged for the shampoo by one guy but the other said let it go since he could see how disappointed I was. I honestly think they overbook as many dogs as they can. There were only two groomers when I was there. Also, why set my appointment two months in advance for 4:15 when you know darn well that my dog wouldn't be groomed for hours. Needless to say, the prices are decent but it's not worth my dog sitting with anxiety for hours to get groomed. I won't be back. read more

My senior collie has many issues, among them is standing for a significant time. Al worked with me, by bathing and trimming her on separate appointments. Terrible experience for my dog. We scheduled an appointment 2 weeks in advance and they had our dog for 4 1/2 hours. They basically shaved him down to the skin and hair length was noticeably patchy with different lengths. There were some indents from the shaver on his skin too. Our dogs loves getting baths and sits so well for us. Now he shakes, cries and tries to jump out of the bath. read more

We took our two dogs there on two different occasions and both were horrible . They shaved the dogs not even close to what we wanted and shaved them to there skin and it looked like they were burned. On the last time there my girlfriend had to go home and get clippers to cut and shave the dog and had to help the guy do it .and then still be charged for it .and the shaved the one dogs genitals so close that they were burned and had scabs after a couple of days healing . The cut and shaving job was just incredibly crazy. Splotches and missed cuts and just horrible. The dog was not the same to when we got him back home . Stay away from this place. Trust me no good. And we even gave them water to give to the dogs and when we picked them up there tongues were hanging to the ground and they were dehydrated. They drank so much water when they got home. read more

I've contemplating leaving a review back at the end of May but refrained because I didn't want to publicly bash a business. After thinking about it for a few months and with two trips to the vet, I've decided to leave my review. I would never recommend this place to anyone. My dog was having such a fit when I picked him up that I just wanted to pay and get out of there. Once I got home I could tell he was shaved way too short, unevenly and so much so he wouldn't sit down. Both elbows were nicked and now still pink and red. I don't know if my dog was a guinea pig for an unexperienced groomer but I would steer clear. They shaved my dog way too short, to the point of her having razor burn. She would barely walk because she was so uncomfortable. We had to buy hot spot cream, keep her in a cone, stay up with her at nights so she wouldn't lick her injuries. It was an awful experience and I felt so bad my poor girl was in torture. Just had my lovely Maltese groomed and they did a wonderful job! Her coat was very matted and I was afraid they would have to shave her down to the skin. However, they were able to keep about half an inch. My husband brought my dog in for grooming and after 4 1/2 hours he called to see if she was ready. They said they where finishing up now. When he picked her up they said she tore off her nail while she was in the cage because she was freaking out. I'm having a hard time understanding how this is possible considering it's her back paw. We weren't notified that there was an issue at all during the time they had her, and why wasn't it mentioned when he called? Most likely it happened while doing her nails. I am a reasonable person and completely understand accidents happen, but not if you are going to lie about it. Now my poor dog has to go see a vet about her nail which is about to fall off and I get to pay the bill. I hate to hurt a small business with a bad review but a little honesty would have gone a long way here. read more

review I wish I could give 0 stars if I could. I originally wasn't going to write this review because I thought my dogs were the issue until I heard the same exact story from multiple family friends that they experienced the same exact treatment at Dog Kingdom. I then was reading other reviews who had similar experiences as well and I realized that the entire staff at Dog Kingdom was gaslighting me into thinking my dogs were at fault. First of all, they called me after over an hour of dropping off my dogs and only one dog was barely finished and was absolutely freaking out over the phone that they could not handle my dogs and that they were "extremely aggressive". This man could not handle his emotions, and he was about to have an anxiety attack over my dogs which is absolutely absurd. AND HE OFFERED TO CONTINUE TO DO THE GROOMING while having a conniption about my dogs when he said he couldn't "handle them" like WTF? I refused and wanted to pick my dogs up immediately. I know my dogs are quite anxious BUT NEVER aggressive towards humans. When I came to pick them up, they bathed my one dog but he was soaking wet and they "deshedded" him right in front of us with a couple of brushing and got some fur out... All during the deshedding they complained about how aggressive and anxious my dog was meanwhile he is sitting so nicely WITH HIS FACE ALL CUT UP AND BLEEDING as she is brushing him. (Bunch of red flags that obviously went over my head at the time and now reflecting on everything that happened.) They were repeatedly saying I need to go to the vet and "HEAVILY SEDATE" my dog like if you can't handle big dogs there should be a sign that says "does not take big dogs" like??? I mentioned something about the blood on his face and the lady responded with "oh when dogs are super anxious they bleed from their noses" like DO YOU THINK I AM AN IDIOT? She repeated it multiple times like I am not dumb, obviously these people did not take proper care of my dogs. My other dog had to be picked up and carried out because she is skiddish and cannot walk on super slippery floors. So my boyfriend went to the back and carried her and they have the most basic pieces of equipment like standard bathroom tub and a bunch of soaking wet rags on the floor which also is a red flag. Like my bathroom at home would be nicer and I will gladly take my dogs elsewhere with nicer equipment. The second dog comes out, they did not even bathe her and she had blood on her forehead as well, but fortunately I did not find blood anywhere else. I asked for a nail trim and they missed various nails on each of their paws and the ones that were cut, were all jagged and just look awful. AFTER ALL OF THIS, they STILL charged me full price for a piece of crap grooming when they did not do half of the work on my one dog. Overall, this place should be either reviewed by some type of animal enforcement or something because they are mistreating dogs and tricking owners into thinking that their dog is "aggressive" when they just can't handle them and then charge you for the full price on their HORRIFIC grooming. My dogs are now traumatized, not cleaned/groomed, have messed up nails and I am just flored at what I experienced at this establishment and I hope this review deters ANYONE from coming here. read more

I've been to a number of groomers, and Dog Kingdom is easily the best. I drive from Havertown (45 minutes away) to take my dog. She's pretty much a nightmare-anxiety, fear of others, man-hater... however, she loves Jeff and is a rather tame beast when being groomed by him. He is a dog whisperer. Very clean, thorough, friendly, extremely reasonable with pricing, and they go out of the way to accommodate my loving but incredibly high-needs dog. read more

We have 2 doodles, one large and one mini. We were using another salon and I had specifically asked them to not cut like a poodle. Our pups are suppose to be furry and cuddly-they are not poodles. Well...they Poodled our Doodles So after 2 bad cuts, I went searching for a new groomer. So happy I found this place-Had both groomed here on separate occasions and we will be back for sure! I was very pleased in the care that was take with my fur babies. You can tell these folks really care about their clients, they are knowledgeable in coats and lengths etc. I really felt like they were interested in what we wanted as well as what is best for our dogs. Max is a German Shepherd who is not great with getting his nails trimmed. However, the staff knows how to get them nails clipped and filed down! Every time Max leaves the salon he is looking and feeling good! Max has no problem with me handing the leash over to the groomers which is comforting as a pet parent, because it means he is being taken care of during his stay. I needed a place I trusted for my lab's nail trim which he hates. They were so great with him. I liked how the tables are set up facing the waiting room so I could see him. The last place I went to, they took him in a back room and I couldn't see how they were treating him. I took my dog here a couple of years ago. One of their groomers was grossly mistreating my dog. I walked in to find her yelling and him being choked by the leash attached to the elbow. He is the kindest sweetest dog. He was shaking and terrified. I called the owner, he apologized and said he would give me a discount off of my next groom. Not interested. I left and went to another groomer. Fast forward to yesterday, when I was speaking to an old friend who took her dog here. Her dog was traumatized at this location as well. Since her dog got groomed at Dog Kingdom, he will not let anyone near him. If you have had good luck, great. But if you are looking, I would not recommend this groomer. read more

The staff is always very professional and helpful; I trust my dog in their care fully. We have a dog that gets groomed there, they provide feedback on why would look best for the breed. I am not sure if prices for bigger dogs are significantly different compared to petsmart... but heres the price comparison for a long hair chihuahua to be shaved: 1. Petsmart :$43+ tax Vs. 2. Dog kingdom: $41+tax. Very pleased with the results, the groomers did exactly what I asked for and I found them very caring and friendly towards myself and Charlie. I have taken my dog here a few times and they are usually, but not always friendly. For the most part they do a well job on the cuts. Unfortunately when they tell you it will take 3 hours, it ends up being 4-6 hours. The last and final time I brought my dog in, they gave me a hard time on my request on how I wanted my dog cut as well as the length. I figured if I am paying $65, I should have a say on the length and cut of my dogs hair. I dropped her off at 9AM that day and they told me 3-4 hours. I called at 1:30pm and they told me 30 more minutes. My dog was not ready till 3PM! 6 hours it took them to cut a 19lb dog! read more
