Drs Howland and Heitzman are wonderful and caring. Sadly, Dr Bernard is rude and arrogant.

He got me through some REALLY tough times over the past ten years, and honestly I'm not sure how I would have gotten through the pandemic without him. So knowing his time with me was coming to a close, I left it in his hands to tell me when it was time to go. And, unfortunately, that was the day he woke up and his eyes said simply, "Enough." The staff was attentive and kind from the jump. An examination revealed the options, but it was obvious that whatever was happening was quite serious - and I was given a breakdown of potential next steps. Of course with Sid's age, putting him down was also an option, and I already knew this is what we were going with. I did not receive any pressure to run any preliminary tests, procedures, or additional costs. I was simply told what the options were, and provided with an honest opinion of what the outcomes could be. And all options sucked. BUT it was obvious that the people helping me genuinely cared, and it made the heartbreak just a tiny bit easier. I had never had to do this before and I came in with Sid alone, so the vet guided me through what we were doing, what was next, and gave me ample time in between to say goodbye. Again, no real way to make these things less painful, but there was something in the attention and care I was receiving that made me feel like I wasn't going through it alone. The staff was going through it with me. I also received a beautiful card in the mail from them afterwards, hand-signed with a personal message from each - and this small gesture brought such warmth to my heart that I felt I had to share it. Highly recommend this place.

I spent 3+ hours there but it didn't feel like it. I was able to be by his side the entire time, there was hydration and snacks, and I was comfortable. I feel like every nurse checked in with us at least once. Even my cat felt chill enough after a while to curl up and nap in his large cage (they were quite busy and all rooms were taken). As off Feb '25 it was $200 for just the most basic care, for what it's worth, and in our situation it was very much worth it. They sent everything to my usual vet, including recommended follow up testing. Flippin' awesome and so helpful for moving forward after a terrible Sunday!

My dog had some pain in her leg the other day so I brought her in. The wait was pretty long (about…read more2.5 hours) but I was impressed that they looked her over thoroughly. The nurse who did intake was a little judgmental and got me a bit nervous that this would be an expensive visit that would require surgery, citing her own dog's recent injury to the same limb. However the vet was very thorough and informative. He described how they checked over every part of my dog's body to ensure she was OK and recommended conservative treatment plan that involves medication and rest--so, no X-rays unless it doesn't get better in the next couple of weeks and likely no surgery. He also noted that my dog is probably a bit dramatic (this is true!). The cost was expensive but not nearly as much as I was expecting and their pharmacy is cheaper than my regular vet. There were a couple things that I feel could be improved upon, though: 1. I have an extra $10 charge that I didn't authorize for their charity organization. I specifically remember hitting "decline." Yet, I was still charged. I know I'll seem like an a**hole asking for a refund, but I prefer to make donations to organizations I'm familiar with and have researched well to be sure they align with all my values. And I prefer to make direct donations rather than while I'm with my dog who is in distress. I also think it's shady to still charge me after I declined. 2. While we were waiting, a young woman came out very upset because her dog was just put down. The music that was blasting in the waiting room was from the soundtrack of the movie "The Wedding Singer," specifically the song where Adam Sandler is singing about wanting someone to kill him and how he wants to die. I also noted that they brought the woman's beloved pet out in a trash bag and then they discussed afterward whether they gave her the correct nose print. The front desk staff was compassionate with her while she was there, but perhaps some of these details could be considered in the future. Overall I was happy with the care my dog got and that is what matters most to me.

Look elsewhere. My two cents:…read more 1) Research the vets who will touch your animals. 2) Research this chain - you will be concerned. 3) Stay away from young know it all docs. I know in emergency - esp on holidays - you're stuck with who you get, but the vet can make it helpful or, as was our experience, a kafkaesque journey through the 7 rings of hell. If I had it to do again, I'd have done research on animal hospitals in the area and Vets within them well before I needed one and would've done what I could to steer toward one of those in an emergency. Our experience could not have been worse. I kick myself for trusting her. Vets are like every other discipline - abilities range broadly. Don't let what happened to us happen to you. We got stuck with what definitely appears to me to be an inexperienced vet (has been there ~ a year or 2) whose hubris cost us a tragic ending with our beloved pet. Also, we had gone there from a pet urgent care center who we paid for a full blood work-up that we presented (about 15 minutes later) to the front desk staff at thee BluePearl hospital when we arrived - along with notes from our regular vet that we saw the day before. The vet never bothered to review the information, ran the same blood tests and charged us for it. Also, our boy died before the radiologist ever read the report on the X-rays - we were charged for the radiologist services. Insults to a very painful injury. You've been warned. My advice: DO NOT GO here and definitely do not allow her to touch your pet - ever. She seems to me to have more confidence than skill. Do your research!!!! I wish I had.

They are very transparent about pricing and she gave me several different options in different price ranges. She explained everything thoroughly and made sure I understood. And they even followed up to see how his surgery went.

My dog was diagnosed with Anal sac adenocarcinoma while my mother was on hospice, so we decided to…read moremove forward with surgical removal of the tumor (at VRC's recommendation) because we didn't want to lose two family members at the same time. Prior to surgery, the doctors at VRC indicated that successful surgery would get us 1-3 more years with our pet. During surgery, they were able to remove most but not all of the metastatic growth so it was recommended that we move forward with chemo and radiation which would extend his life by 3-6 months instead of the 1-3 years initially stated. Well, our dog died exactly a week after surgery, 1.5 hours after my mother passed. The exact situation that we were trying to avoid unfolded as our worst nightmare. Unbeknownst to us, VRC operated even though our dog was anemic, and as a result, he spent the last week of his life in pain and internally bleeding. The morning of his passing, he was vomiting up blood clots and there were clots coming out of his nose. He was in shock and urinated all over my husband as he carried him to the car to rush him to our closest Vet ER (not VRC). At the ER, we were told it was too late so we made the impossible but humane decision to hold our dog until his last breath. After arriving home, we couldn't even mourn the two deaths we just experienced because we had to clean up the blood from our carpets, curtains, floors, walls, etc. before our young children got home from school so we didn't traumatize them. We paid VRC over $10k and all they did was kill our pet in the most traumatic way. On top of that, they haven't once reached out to check on our pet (he was supposed to have his sutures removed two weeks after surgery but obviously we didn't get to do that, but no one called to find out why) or express their condolences for our loss. I would and could not ever recommend this vet practice to anyone. So disappointing and heartbreaking.
