I recently found out…read morethe hard way that Suburban collection of dealerships here in metro Detroit are not the same dealerships they once were but instead operate in name only under the parent group LITHIA motors. This was the 3rd vehicle I've bought from Suburban but the 1st since being part of LITHIA motors. I purchased a used Honda CR-V from Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Garden City for $13,500 cash on May 28 from salesman Rich Putty, who told me the vehicle was already a great deal and there was no room to negotiate. Just 2 days and 248 miles later, every warning light came on and the engine could barely run. What followed was weeks of frustration. Rich never followed through on promised callbacks, service advisor Samantha rarely provided updates and communicated exclusively by text even when asked to call back, and after the vehicle sat for days I still couldn't get clear answers. When I met with General Manager Joe Sinishtaj he was unaware of the situation and told me the vehicle was sold "as is" and even asked what I expected from a higher-mileage vehicle. The lack of empathy and professionalism was shocking. After disassembling the engine, I found the turbocharger had been recently replaced and evidence of significant pre-existing mechanical issues, due to a failed turbo charger including a failed head gasket, damage to the #3 piston, cylinder head fire deck damage, and a damaged fuel injector tip. The engine also showed signs of abnormal combustion and intercooler oil contamination consistent with a failed turbo compressor wheel. These were major internal engine failures that would not be expected after only 248 miles of ownership and account for the $5,000+ repair estimate. In my experience, Suburban under Lithia Motors showed zero accountability, poor communication, and no concern for customer satisfaction. I would strongly recommend taking your business anywhere but Suburban or any other dealer owned by LITHIA.

I advised of the above, and she had me text screenshots to her and apologized saying she wanted to know where Tony got the numbers , why he used the term "mechanic's special, and ASSUMED I NEEDED THEIR FINANCING. She stated that while they WOULD NOT finance the car, I could ABSOLUTELY obtain my own through a third party. She stated she would call me back. A few minutes later, Tony C called stating that he could NOT sell me the car because they weren't financing it and gave me a song and dance. I NEVER said I needed financing. As a matter of fact, I had already been pre-approved and had whatever money was needed. I advised him of Jessica's conversation with me and I told him to talk to her. Then Jessica calls back stating she spoke to the Finance Mgr and I could indeed have the car for the $5500 listed. So I set a time to see the car for 11a on Wed Oct 15th. TODAY I called before going and Carol told me to ask for Rich Putty. I went in and DOWNHILL it went. Rich tried to give me to TONY C. I explained what happened the day before. So now RICH P is agitated. He tells me I have to put down $500 dollars for a TEST DIVE! I ho out and tell my husband. My hubby comes in and asks why? RICH P says if we didn't want to do that, we could TEST DRIVE IT IN THE PARKING LOT! Yall, they treated us like THIEVES! Why on earth would I want to STEAL their RAGGEDY 2015 Patriot that had ALL KIND OF LIGHTS ON (engine, brakes, tires, etc.)? I took my car to J & J Collision the next day (a Saturday), just expecting them to get me a new door, but they far exceeded my expectations. At the time of the accident, my car was essentially three different colors. I had sun damage on the entire front half. Last year, I took it to Lafontaine (where I purchased the car) to repaint the hood. Lafontaine did a terrible job, painting my hood at least 3 shades lighter than it was supposed to be and tried to charge me extra to fix some nonexistent dents in the hood. I took "before" pictures, so I know that there were no dents. I was really impressed with the communication I had with Waled and the rest of the staff. They kept me informed about what was going on with my car, and were very clear about how exactly much I would pay out of pocket to have the sun damaged areas painted. It was absolutely beautiful when I picked it up. It looked brand new and was all one color. The painter was able to blend my hood, sun damaged sides, door and back of the car together seamlessly. I paid extra for it, and it was so worth it. My car actually looks much better than it did before the accident. I highly recommend J & J Collsion.
