Seem pretty good for body and collision work, but not to be trusted for mechanical or engine repair!

Redford Auto Repair - Waiting area

The time from start to repaired and on the road was impressive. They communicated the details thoroughly through the repair process as well. I was already working with Scott at Michigan Sandblasting and planned to have my Jeep's underbody sandblasted there. Rashid told me they could apply POR-15 afterward, so based on that I paid to have the Jeep towed down there. After it arrived, everything changed. Rashid started questioning the project and for over a week I was given the runaround. Multiple times Rashid told me he would "talk to Scott figure out a solution and call me back," but the call back never happened. Every time I followed up I got the same vague response and nothing actually moved forward. Rashid knew all of the details prior to me towing it down there. If this wasn't a job they wanted to take on, that should have been communicated from the beginning instead of telling me to bring the vehicle down and spend money towing it there. It's extremely frustrating to be told something can be done, only to have the shop avoid giving a straight answer after the vehicle is already there. Very disappointing and unprofessional way to handle a customer. I wasted time and money because they couldn't simply be upfront about whether they were willing to do the work.

Tom's Collision is not worth the anxiety and aggravation. Even though they did a decent job on the…read morebody work of my 2018 Ford Fusion, they did not finish the engine in over 14 weeks! I have no doubt it would have been longer had I not stopped by in person and told Chris I would be there on Friday, July 11, to pick up my car, whether I drive it out or tow it out. I had AAA and another collision shop standing by. In March, right after my accident, Chris asked me what I would be willing to pay to have my car fixed. I gave him a figure, and he underbid that. (I did not have collision on my insurance at the time.) He asked for 80% up front and I paid it. He promised to have my car done by the end of April. He was making my car a priority. I was healing sprained hands and didn't go back to work until May 12. On May 9, Chris said the parts were painted but still had to be assembled. Give him one more week and he'd cover the cost of the car rental, which sounded generous, but then all the delays and deception began. It was one excuse after another. Tuesday, July 8, when I stopped in, I demanded to see my car before I left. It was buried behind a row of other cars in his lot. The hood was one piece (the damage had all been on the passenger side front), but there was no grill or headlights. It didn't look like much was done and I wondered how he was going to finish this by Friday. Of course, he didn't. He found a broken part behind the radiator and had to order it from Fords. Monday he would take it to Quick Lane for a front-end alignment. The Quick Lane mechanics found a broken control arm on the passenger side that Chris had not noticed! I paid $1,000 for the control arm and the alignment. I picked up my car at Quick Lane to find there was no AC! In this heat? Are you kidding me? I drove to Tom's Collision to collect the promised reimbursement for the last month of car rentals (8 weeks!), which he honored. Could I bring it back when I have a couple hours? No! He had 14 weeks and didn't get it done! I took it to Gorno Ford to fix the AC and paid again for these parts and services I paid to Chris up front in March. Meanwhile, I was back at Enterprise renting a car. Chris reimbursed me for the AC, but not without resistance. I thought maybe my first mistake was not checking reviews on Google before I accepted Chris's offer. Boy was I right! There are 50 reviews out here, and most of them are 1 star. He delays and deceives all of his customers and thinks he's doing us all a favor! He told me once, "My problem is I have too big a heart." Is this man living in the real world? What customers want is for a company to do their job with excellence in a timely manner and charge a fair price, not pity and the semblance of charity. When I picked up my car from Gorno's this afternoon and stopped in Tom's Collision for reimbursement for the 9th week of car rental and the AC Chris never finished, he started showing his true colors. He resisted. I demanded. He finally gave me a check for the AC but refused the car rental. He said, "I'm not the one who crashed my car!" There it is, Folks. Take your business elsewhere for your own peace of mind and for a job well done. Tom's Collision cannot provide that. And if Lyon's Towing recommends Tom's Collision, like they did to me, tell them, "Shame on you!"

I came to trust the owner as his expertise in collision is something that only comes with years of experience. Major Problem: When my G6 got hit, I thought I was fucked; being in school and needing my car on a daily, to my surprise it was fixed within a week and my life was back to normal. Minor problem: My G6 oil bolt was stuck after a random shop gave me an oil change and forgot to lube it. Every shop I approached to get a new oil change after that wouldn't dare to touch the bolt. I brought it to this shop, the owner laughed and told me to come back in 2hrs. I come back, my car had a new bolt with new oil and no further problems couldn't be any happier!!! (Even Belle tire said no to me) I will definitely be coming back here in the future because this place never says no to solving a car problem, they take problems head on and never take advantage of the customer! P.S Steve is a very fair guy and only wants what's best for his customers. With car collision people want you to tell them what the problem is without digging in, I assure you, you will be taken care of just be patient!!

If I ever need vehicle body work done, I will go back to the Collision Shop on Allen Road in Brownstown.
