That morning, I called the shop to ask if they could assemble a set of struts and replace a CV shaft on my truck. I was told it was no problem, and they began working on the struts. About an hour later, I received a call that they were "finished" and ready for pickup. However, when I arrived, I was told only one strut was complete, and the rest of the crew was out to lunch. The person behind the desk told me to go ahead and take the one strut and begin the work myself, so I did. Upon returning to my truck, I noticed the assembled strut was visibly crooked. I brought it back for correction and picked up the second strut. I assumed everything was resolved at that point, but after installing the struts, I discovered that the driver-side strut was seized and would not compress. It was now late, so I had the truck towed back to the shop for repair and to address the frozen strut. The following day, I called to check on the status of the repair. I was told the strut could be realigned, but I was met with a very poor attitude from the staff and was told I "shouldn't watch YouTube videos to work on my truck." For the record, I had been following manufacturer Technical Service Bulletins and Bilstein's official instructions, I'm also an FAA licensed aircraft mechanic. The next day I was informed the truck was "ready and aligned." Since I was at work, my mother went to pick it up and I paid the bill in full. That evening, when I inspected the truck, I discovered that the front sway bar was missing entirely -- it had not been reinstalled and was still in the bed of the truck, along with the mounting hardware. It had been left lying next to where the strut was they fixed. Despite this obvious omission, the shop had released the truck to my mother, claiming the work was complete and the truck had been aligned. To be clear: They gave us back a vehicle, declared it aligned and finished, despite it missing a 4-foot-long piece of suspension that was clearly provided and noted. There was even a written note in the cab and verbal instructions given on the phone regarding the sway bar and its hardware. These were apparently ignored. I returned the truck that night and left the keys in the drop box. The next morning, I called to ask what happened, and was told that the mechanic who started the job went home, and the person behind the desk -- who I'm not even sure is a certified mechanic -- had "finished" the job. I was later told the sway bar would be reinstalled, but that no new alignment was needed. I have serious doubts about this, given the work that had been done and undone at that point. Not surprisingly, they failed to install my skid plate as well, which was still laying in the bed of my truck with it's hardware when I arrived home from work. At no point was I offered any compensation for the extra day without my truck, the inconvenience of having it towed, or the serious issue of the vehicle being released in an unsafe condition. I was still charged $800. This experience showed a lack of communication, poor workmanship, disregard for safety, and unprofessional behavior from start to finish. I cannot recommend Tom's Family Auto based on this experience. My family and friends will no longer be using this establishment after being loyal customers for over 20 years.

I've seen plenty of customer cars here over the years so I figured that it was worth a try. My 2004 Grand Marquis needed two things repaired, the speed control for the blower and the air suspension compressor. They did the work promptly and at a reasonable price, far better than what the dealership was estimating. Previously I tried the Lincoln dealership in Southgate for the blower not being able to be controlled. It was either on high or off. Their mechanic had the car for 2 days and couldn't find a problem. They said it was working fine and sent me on my way. It failed as I pulled out of their parking lot so I went back. They said I could leave it again for the night and they would look it the next day again. I decided that apparently their mechanic was not too experienced with intermittent blower speed issues even though the problem is highly recognized on Youtube for the Panther platform cars. On my own with Youtube's help I concluded that it was the blower control resistor, as this was a common issue with the Panther platform and decided to take it to Livernois Automotive. Mike and I talked and they replaced the blower resistor and the problem was successfully fixed in addition to the air compressor I needed for the suspension system. Mike and his mechanics are what we look for in mechanics. Honest, dependable, and with reasonable prices. This is now my go-to shop for automotive repairs. Thanks Mike....

Unfortunately, within just a few days of getting the vehicle back, the same problems returned. After multiple attempts to have the issues corrected, it appeared that the diagnostic trouble codes had simply been cleared rather than the underlying problems being resolved. I eventually took the vehicle to my regular mechanic, who had recently acquired the equipment necessary to service this type of vehicle. After inspecting it, he found that the oil sensor was still the original sensor rather than a new replacement, the oil leak was coming from the manifold instead of the oil pan (which I had previously discussed with the shop), and the EVAP switch had been installed incorrectly, with loose lines. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop. I would encourage others to ask detailed questions about the repairs performed and verify the work before leaving. Unfortunately, my experience resulted in additional time, expense, and frustration.

Everything seemed fine at first, so I decided to let them do their thing and stayed patient throughout the process. After about 4-5 weeks of my truck being in the shop, they kept telling me that a bracket was missing or that they had received the wrong one. This happened over and over again. I continued to be patient, and after about 6 weeks, I finally got my truck back. Keep in mind, the damage was only minor front-end damage. When I got the truck back, there was about a 1-inch gap between my bumper and grille. They also installed the wrong fender liner, which caused my tires to rub against it. Six weeks without my truck for what turned out to be a terrible job is extremely disappointing. Honestly, I feel like I could have found someone on the street who would have done a better and quicker job. I gave them plenty of patience and opportunities to get it right, but unfortunately, I can't recommend this shop based on my experience.

We went to Rony's body shop and requested that the check given to us be used for paint that was peeling on the front hood and roof Instead of the bumper/scratches. We were told no problem. 1 week later they called to say the bumper was repaired. We couldn't believe they fixed the bumper when we specifically asked them not to. we made our repair request very clear. They even received additional money from the insurance company for the bumper repair! The paint job wasn't even done that we requested! We had to pay extra for the job we originally asked for. They took advantage of us. Did not listen to us and lied to us. After picking up the vehicle we noticed the inside of the vehicle was filthy with hand prints on the dash, side panel and roof of the vehicle. They definitely do not offer the customer service and quality work the old owners gave. Shame on them!
