They replaced My catalytic converter with the promise that it was for a California. When I took my truck to get Smog checked in California, I found out that it wasn't for California and had to spend another $300 to get the right one. I called Collins to see what they could do for me, since I did not get what I paid for and the answer was. No, it's done and nothing I can do for you. A shop like them should at least offer partial refund or something to make a customer happy. They must not care about their customers. Would never go back or recommend anyone else to go either. Generally I come on here to vent and eviscerate some shady merchant that I'd like to see go down in flames. This is not the case with Collins Muffler. Here is why, these guys are HONEST mechanics not interested in ripping people off. I know, you may find it hard to believe. Finding an honest mechanic is like finding an honest spouse or business partner, once you've got them, you never want to let them go! I was in there this afternoon after having troubles with one of my vehicles, certain that I needed at least a new starter and possibly more. Not the case, upon their diagnostic check they found there was an issue with a sensor, they reset it, re-diagnosed to be certain, tested it and everything was gravy. The best part was they didn't charge me a dime! Nothing, nada, zilch! Not even for the diagnosis which they initially quoted at $99.00 and I had agreed to pay. Even better than that, I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. If you haven't found your honest mechanic in this life, fret not, hope is alive, for now you have! I know about four things about cars. I can drive, I can check my oil, I can pour coolant into the coolant tank and, don't even get me started on how I can pump gas like nobody's business. Outside of my basic maintenance wheel house, I'm lost. My very first experience flying solo at a repair shop promised to be frightening one but I was pleasantly surprised at the service, cost and efficiency I found at Collins Muffler Shop. This all happened last year when I needed a new fuel pump in my Monte Carlo to pass emissions and keep myself the road. I'd called around to several other shops for estimates and was a little overwhelmed at the numbers I'd been getting. Collins estimate was at least $150 cheaper than the other estimates I'd gotten, including parts and labor. And, I didn't even need to schedule an appointment. I drove right up, waited while they completed my service and within a few hours, had an emissions worthy auto. The estimate I got a on the phone held true and I got a really good warranty on my new fuel pump. I may not know cars but, these guys do and they're honest about it. I'm currently having issues with my heater core and called the shop to see about an estimate for this problem. Without an exact diagnosis, the gentleman I spoke to couldn't give an exact quote but gave the best information he could and encouraged me to come on in and have my Monte looked at. I'm saving cash right now so I can tackle the problem all at once but, Collins has got me as a customer. Second review pending. read more

The guys down at Collins Muffler and Service are some of the nicest people I've met in the business. I've been doing service with them for about 8 years now and have been very happy. From a simple muffler to a transmission install they have have always done it in the time estimated and for a far price. After having my truck there for over 3 months it still is NOT working and I picked it up. I hired them to install a turbo system which they claimed they were more than capable of installing, and I even had them READ thru the instructions provided to make sure they felt comfortable doing it. June 7th I received the truck back and was presented a bill for 21.5 hrs of labor, when the install kit and what I was quoted was a 5-6 hour job....... I paid the bill reluctantly because they claimed it was "harder than the instructions said." I got no farther than 25 miles away and the turbo literally was destroyed! It was sent back to the manufacturer for a rebuild (which I paid out of my pocket to have fixed) only to find out Collins Muffler did NOT follow the directions, and never bothered to check that oil was flowing thru the Turbo. Of course Collins Mufflers owner, Sean, and their so called "mechanic", Gary, blamed everyone else under the sun except for themselves for this "oversight" I sent the BRAND NEW turbo back to the manufacturer to be rebuilt, and it was confirmed this was the reason the turbo was destroyed. After another $600 bill to repair this turbo from Collins Mufflers ineptness, I gave Collins Muffler another chance to correct the issue. 2 weeks later I got the truck back on 8/12/2011. Gary the "mechanic" and the owner Sean claimed to have test drove the truck and it was "working perfectly" I got no further than 3 blocks from their "shop" and literally gallons of oil per hour was RUSHING out of the motor. There is NO WAY it was test drove, as they never even bothered to check their work to see if after the 2nd install they had secured oil to the Turbo. The truck was AGAIN hauled back to their "shop" to fix the problem. 8/15/2011 after being told by their "mechanic" they couldn't figure out how to "make it work" I told them I was having a tow truck pick up the vehicle. I was told it wasn't going ANYWHERE until I paid them MORE MONEY! Yes, more money for a job they've not yet completed, yet gave me receipts stating the work was completed (including completing a checklist I created confirming they followed the instructions) After speaking with my companies atty he suggested I pay their extortion fee then we file a civil suit (which we are now) So I paid their extortion fee to get my non working truck back (which worked fine when it first went into their shop) and while the tow truck driver was putting it on their tow truck, the owner of Collins Muffler brandished his pistol at my friend and I!!!! Greeley Police were dispatched, and Felony charges are in process for this "shop owner" Bottomline stay clear. These guys are total scam artists. I've lived in Greeley my entire life, and prior to this owner, who by reading other reviews on here has ran the business into the toilet, Collins Muffler USED to be a great place to get work done. Even the towing company, and 3 other repair shops in town I spoke to today has said they've heard alot of bad things coming from Collins Muffler in Greeley lately..... One person even stated he was aware of some drug sales taking place in their business. Based on the fact the "owner" brandished his weapon at me when absolutely ZERO provocation took place, it wouldn't shock me that more illegal activities were taking place in this "business" Buyer Beware! read more
