Extremely disappointed. I showed up around 4:00 p.m. minding my own business. As I was unceremoniously paying my bill at the bar, Mr. White Poop emoji told me I was "cut off"? Excuse me? I was alone, quietly paying my bill, again minding my own business. A total loser. Where did this jerk come from? I was completely bewildered. We used to go to Colley Cantina years ago and then stopped going. They went through some different ownership, etc.. i'm here to tell you the Cantina is back, baby.! it still has the same sort of divey-surf-chow theme, but my recent experiences have been very good. All day Thursday they have grilled shrimp tacos for four bucks, add cheesy double shell for another buck. Really good! Maybe I'll try something else like the quesadilla next time but those shrimp tacos keep calling my name. The craft beer selection is pretty good, and of course they've always been known for the margaritas. The service has been excellent and friendly. I wish they had the old bigger outdoor patio. They enclosed most of it, but they do open the windows so you get fresh air through the large screens. If you have not been to Cantina for a while, I suggest you check them out. We recently stopped by Colley Cantina located on Colley Avenue in the heart of the Ghent section of Norfolk. Parking can sometimes be an issue but there is street parking, if you can find a spot. They weren't busy when we arrived so we grabbed a couple of seats at the bar. The bartender was pleasant and attentive. We had our drinks and menus in front of us very quickly. She made several recommendations about their different food options and we settled on the hot wings. We also split a garden salad with balsamic vinaigrette. The salad arrived quickly and all of the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The vinaigrette was delicious as well. Almost as soon as we finished the salad, our wings appeared, it was like a well trained orchestra at work here with everything just naturally working together. Good job! The wings were piping hot and they were very tasty. Unlike some wings these were HUGE, very meaty and cooked to perfection! Taco Tuesday this was my first time at Colley Cantina and I was pleased. Parking was a little stressful due to traffic and I went at 5 pm but I ended up finding a spot. The restaurant is nice inside and I enjoyed the range of music they played. There were only 1-2 servers it seemed like so service wasn't horrible but was a little slow; however, our server was funny and nice. I ordered 4 beef hard tacos Baja style (9/10) they had a decent amount of toppings and were very juicy. I thought they were pretty yummy, just needed a little more seasoning. I also ordered a bowl of queso (7/10) it was alright, definitely lacked in taste. I also got a $5 strawberry margarita and it was so good (10/10). For dessert we ordered the churros (10/10). I definitely see myself going back for their taco Tuesday deal again. My overall rate of experience : 8/10 read more

I went with my bff after a movie at WRHO, and I really enjoyed it. I planned on getting a little bite to eat, and I haven't been in forever. So I'm definitely a "maybe" on this one.... The lumpia was tasty! I wasn't impressed with my steak tacos . They came as a duo and I only ate one. There wasn't much flavor at all. No picture was necessary. As far as variety of food-- It is definitely a cantina with a little bit of everything- but your expectations low. It's more of a local bar with food than a Catina that is a setting for everyone. It seems that the ambiance of the place has somewhat been lost in its identity or lack of one. Small on street restaurant spot between a modest bar and dining area. 3 or 4 sport screens, surfboard on the wall and regulars at the bar. I enjoyed the handheld burrito style wrap with chips and salsa. Daughter had 3 individual chicken tacos. The menu tilts to Mexican but also included burgers. My burrito had three choices of meat and my chicken was large enough to take half home. A local favorite, includes outdoor seating in the fall. Tonight was another first for myself. We enjoying a good simple dinner tonight here at Colley Cantina. We sat on the patio tonight and enjoyed our margaritas. I had the Passion Fruit Margarita and honey has the Red Hibiscus Margarita. One salted and one sugar for me of course because I'm an ADHD adult with nothing else to do lol. For dinner we kept it simple. Had the Cantina Egg Rolls, the Baja and the cantina style fish taco served with the Cantina Street Corn. I'm sill and satisfied. The food was just average. They use the same queso for everything and it was extra thick and lukewarm. We asked about several items on the menu and they were sold out of all of them-- street corn, fried ice cream, and one other item my friend tried to order (I can't remember what it was now). The service was solid! Our server was attentive, checked back regularly and was really great. The food wasn't great. We got the dip duo with rojo salsa and cheese dip. The salsa was watery and bland, really lacking in flavor. The cheese dip was room temp and a glop consistency, seriously so odd and not good. There's a ton of places here with cheese dip and this was the absolute worst I've ever had. We both got fajitas and they were fine. Mine came out about 7 minutes before my partners which was odd. Mine weren't sizzling or very hot. I got a chicken/steak combo. The waitress told us my partners would be another minute because they're waiting on the chicken, but I also had chicken so that seemed strange. My partners arrived sizzling at least though. The chicken wasn't juicy but had good flavor and so did the steak. We won't go back for anything other than drinks though in the future. The flavorless salsa and bad cheese dip broke my little Texmex/Mexican food lovin heart too much. read more

Colley cantina isn't somewhere you'd wanna go if you wanted fine dining but it is one of my favorite spots to meet my friends up and grab some drinks. They have decent prices for their beer and liquor menu. They do taco Tuesdays I've been meaning to go to that but from talking to my friends they all really love it and say it and the prices are good. It's typical bar food nothing crazy but it's also not bad I wish they would season their fries but I think that's just me being picky. What I always end up getting when I go there is the Mexican street corn you get two ears of corn and I think it's super worth it it's a little messy but totally worth it. They have an outside sitting area and that's always nice in the summer and the staff is always very nice and polite and they are always very good at recommending something if you need help. I always have a pleasant experience every time I go and I plan on to keep Colley Cantina in my rotation of Ghent spots to visit. read more

I was visiting the area for a job interview and advised to take a peek in Norfolk for possible housing upon relocation. When i asked the real estate agent where might be a good place to grab a quick bite, he suggested the Colley Cantina. My GPS directed me to the front door. I parked the car and noticed the hours of operation on the app....ive been fooled by this in the past so i decided to call to see if that information was accurate. Indeed, they were closed but i got an answer. The owner and a cook were inside preparing for the day and when i asked for a referral to another place to grab a bite before my plane left - the owner actually opened just for me!! Who does that!? They presented me with two fabulous tacos and a handmade margarita that was absolutely fabulous! I was the only person in the place! i got all the attention and conversation any one would want. The food, the service and best of all the price!!! was something i couldnt not stop here on Yelp to yelp about. Best of the best and if i do relocate to the area this will surely be a stomping ground for me! Thank you!!! read more

Yesterday was my first visit to Colley Cantina. It won't be my last. I first noticed a cool decor with bright colors and great art work. I then noticed the friendly staff and was greeted warmly. Alli was our server and she is great! Friendly and on her game and also has a great sense of humor. Upon perusing the menu - I was taken aback. There were so many great sounding dishes - I wanted to order 2 of everything and told Allii that and she asked what sides I wanted with that. Got the Calamari and it was beautiful and delicious. We got Fish tacos and Shrimp tacos and a dog wrapped in bacon. All of the food was amazing and delicious and looked like it should be dipped in polyurethane and hung on the wall - a work of art. The beer was cold and there are a lot of choices. I have now found a new favorite place to go have fun and great food and be surrounded by great vibes, smiles and cold ones. Oh - I can not finish this review without mentioning Christine. First I noticed she had amazing ink. Then I saw she had a great smile and personality. The staff here is not only cool but they add a lot to the dining experience. I have added photos from my visit. I hope to get more soon. This place is one of a kind! I LOVE it!! It's so chill here. The staff is super friendly and interacts with their patrons rather than standing behind the bar and not socialize. They have a Great beer selection. Tons of seasonal rotators and local beers. They have weekly and daily specials. I got their Baja fish taco and their pork taco. I think that's what it was... Anyways TONS OF FLAVOR. Yum yum yummmmm some of the best tacos I've had. We also had their pineapple jalapeño fritters with key lime dipping sauce and it was soooo good too. While I've been here several times since it's re-opened a year or two ago this was the first time I've had a meal since the new management has taken over. I joined a friend for dinner last night and really enjoyed it. Our servers name was Sierra and she was cool and really knowledgeable with the beer selection. She kept the glasses full and took care of us throughout the visit. For dinner I had the Cuban Press which is just a Cuban Sandwich. The sandwich was deceptively large and came with fries. It was delicious but was a little on the greasy side. My buddy Ron had a plate of steamed shrimp. Good lord they were huge shrimp indeed. I'll have to look into that on a future visit. All in all I'm glad we stopped in here for a meal. The food was better than the old version of the CC and so was the service. I'll be back for sure. read more

No, it;s not the most mind-blowing meal you will ever have, but it's a good place to unwind and grab a bite of eat after a long day. Colley Cantina is where I prefer to kick up my heels and relax but still be in the midst of everything. Their menu has Mexican and American influences that give it an interesting mix. Even so, the dishes I've had fall short of amazing. Their Boca burger tastes only a tad better than when I nuke one at home, so the food isn't my personal favorite. The appetizers such as fried avocados or chips and salsa are sludgy, leaving me with little energy for the rest of the night.
