I had to answer a COVID questionnaire, had my temperature taken, verified my ID, and paid for my scheduled services. She helped me keep my cool, walked me through the whole procedure, and what I have to do as far as after-care along with a print out of all the same information she gave me verbally. The whole piercing was so quick, the tools were single-use, and V was clearly a professional in her art of piercing. Will update when the piercings heal!!

I highly recommend this place for piercings. Now, they do not let you take pictures of the process, which is fine with me, because I'm not 21 anymore (haha!), but some people may not like that. They do have a tip jar OR you can now tip on your card at the end (they also have an atm in there). My friend and I really enjoyed our time here, and the piercings were done quickly. The longest part was us picking out our jewelry. I'll go here again for any other piercings I feel led to get. High quality!

However, there are some things I didn't enjoy of my first experience at Ocean Mystique's. First off, after signing all the paperwork and paying for the tattoo, the woman at the front with the pink hair mentioned Monday's and Tuesday's weren't so busy and told me it'll be about a 30-40 minute wait. Fine, no big deal. That 30-40 minute wait turned out to be almost an hour. Then the pricing. $200 for just line work and not even one hour's work is pretty steep. My tattoo design was just line work, no coloring, no shading and they charged me two bills. I will give props to the artist though, the man's a professional. Tattoo came out great and I really like it. Though I don't see myself coming back for more.

I was introduced to the artist, Tippo, who I later learned is the renowned "Tatman Tippo." He is a Miami legend and has quickly built a great reputation in Virginia! We immediately hit it off and after discussing the tattoo I wanted, we agreed on a price and set an appointment for the next day. The session itself was outstanding. Tippo had refined the artwork and prepared several sizes for me to choose from. The tattoo took about four hours, and he was a true professional throughout the process--putting down smooth, clean lines and being a great conversationalist. It was an excellent experience from start to finish. If you are in the Portsmouth area and looking for high-quality work, I can't recommend Tatman Tippo and Blue Horseshoe Tattoo enough. The experience, artwork, and price were all fantastic. I will definitely be back for more work on my future trips!

I originally tried getting a quote from another shop and they pushed me aside saying that my tattoo wasn't "big enough to warrant an appointment and should just be a walk in." I told Kelsey that since it was my first tattoo I wanted to make sure that I got exactly what I wanted without feeling rushed. Once we set up our consultation she went out of her way to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. We had to reschedule a couple times due to my schedule and she was understanding about that as well! Once we got started she offered me lots of breaks and checked in multiple times to make sure that I was feeling okay. I am beyond obsessed with my tattoo and I can't wait to head back for more from her! She gave me her personal number and said multiple times that I should reach out with any concerns I might have. If you have been on the fence about what shop to use - don't hesitate! Black Rose & Dagger is where you need to go.

Their work is displayed on social media and I reached out via text to schedule an appointment. King has an assistant who handles his booking, but it was pretty straightforward. $100 deposit that goes towards your total, $150 per hour, 2-hour minimum. It's been a while since I've had an ink session but was pretty sure I would only need 2 hours for what I was getting. Once deposit was paid, I received a booking text that confirmed my time. The artist had something come up during my originally scheduled time, but gladly checked the schedule to get me in while I was still in town. There are two sections upstairs, and myself and two others were getting tattooed in one area at the same time- but it wasn't crowded and we weren't on top of each other. They guys had a good vibe and energy between them and the air was light and filled with stories and laughter. I would think this would relax a nervous person, to see the artists comfortable in their spaces and happy to work. I had a small touch up on one tat and two new ones, which spanned the full 2 hours. He initially sketched out the tattoo based on my photos, but once I saw them in print and didn't like the font, he let me go through the database to find one that I did like. The tattoo behind my ear went quick and was quite painless. The one on my forearm went well too. King has a good hand and great line work. I generally go to the same artist when I like them, and if I ever get another tattoo while in Norfolk, I would book with King again.

I waited about 20min due to 3ppl ahead of me. The gentleman at the front desk got me situated with paperwork so that I would be ready once it was my turn. The shop was extremely clean and spacious with a comfortable waiting area. Mak the piercer, called me up and educated me on the plethora of jewelry options for nose piercings. I settled on a small stud and was ready to roll. Mak was so accommodating, welcoming, and calming to me during this process. She mentioned being an apprentice of Brandy and gave her all the accolades on her craft. Mak thoroughly explained everything I would experience during the piercing process before actually sticking me. This was unlike any other piercing experience I've ever had. Mak was quick too, but not like she was rushing me out. She ensured I was ok the entire time, and made suggestions on placement from her experience and WHY! She also suggested that I close my eyes. This was extremely helpful as well as properly breathing through the process. After I got done the quick and nearly pain free process, I had a small tear from my right eye as she stated I would.
