With great exception is the "Love INC Thrift Store" on K. Something is not right with how it is managed, so let me explain. During a recent experience at the Love INC Thrift my wife came across a stuffy hen which she felt would be a great gift for her sister - it was sitting in the window near the front of the store. As we shopped a worker (we found out later was one of the managers) marched up to my wife and in a very loud voice, "Where did you get that?" and "It's not for sale!" My wife responded that it had a price tag on it, and then the woman shouted at her "Did you get that from the back room?" At that point my wife handed her the stuffy hen and said, "Take it." The woman then marched with it to the back of the store. She was extremely rude and vile, not the behavior or demeanor you would expect to find in a church sponsored location. My wife suggested that she did not need to be rude to her, so the woman (obviously having some sort of meltdown) escalated the encounter by calling out loudly for security. I then asked, "what is going on?" to which she replied, "you need to leave" and so my wife and I left but not before the security guy approached and asked what was happening. My wife began to share with him what had transpired but as she was doing so the woman butted in claiming that my wife had pulled something from their display window. Again, the stuffy hen was marked with a price tag. The security guy asked the oddest question, "At what place can you purchase things in their window?" Many if not all the thrift stores on K Street have items on window display that are for sale, I know because I have purchased several over the years, and if they are not, they are clearly marked NFS. So, friends, say a prayer for this woman that works at the Love INC Thrift Store because clearly, she has demons and a very unprofessional, unkind manner. If you are the owner or direct supervisor of the store, you might consider reassigning the person to where dealing with people is not required.

There are constantly sales that rotate color tags and they also have additional sales too. The staff is always very friendly! The organization of the store is always on point and whoever does the displays needs a raise! They also have a large variety of dresses on the top floor. Bonus; they give a military discount of 20%!

When I mentioned there were many identical items in the back that likely had tags, he did not respond or move--he simply left the item sitting off to the side. Since no solution was offered, I went to the back myself, found the same item with a price tag, and brought it to the register. At that point, the associate told me he had taken my original item to the back to be re-priced--without telling me, and without asking whether I still wanted it. There was no communication, no attempt to problem-solve, and no basic customer service. This could have been resolved easily if the associate had offered to retrieve a tagged item or involve someone who could. Instead, I was left to solve the issue myself after being ignored. Very frustrating experience.

A decent selection of clothes, reasonable prices, but everything was mixed up, styles and sizes, so hard to shop. Lots of 'new' surplus merchandise, but prices pretty high. Overall, prices high and selection so-so.... AND NO SECOND FLOOR!!!

I was interested in a plastic chess set, but walked out with a wooden Scrabble box set instead. Both were the same price and that was kind of bonkers to me since the quality of each game was much different. The Scrabble set was a pretty good price for what it is. My brother picked up a cool sweatshirt here too. It's hard to find anime merch that's a little more lowkey so I thought this one was worth it. The service here was really friendly. Checking out was quick and easy.

My least favorite thing about this Goodwill is that no matter the condition or size all the prices are the same flat rate. For example, the shirts are all $4.49, no matter what. Or the Knick-knack section, all items are priced the same, regardless of the items size or condition. While I'm certain this is simply for convenience of pricing, I prefer the other Goodwills that have tag colors and base prices off of the conditions of the items. Other goodwills also have color tag sales, which is also nice. I will say that I am very happy to finally see books for sale at this location, as they didn't carry books for years! Hopefully they figure out a better, more clutter free way of displaying them though!

They also have a nice little kid area where the kids can hang out while you shop. I picked up 24 items, which averaged out to about $5 an item. While the prices are generally good, I do think they could lower the prices for smaller toddler clothes (like for my 3-year-old) compared to older kids (like my 6-year-old) since it's so much less fabric. The customer service could use some advice. Some staff wasn't very welcoming, and after buying 24 items, the cashier just handed them to me and said "thanks for shopping" ...no bag, no apology, and no warning that they don't provide bags. Trying to carry two dozen loose clothing items out to the car with a 6 year old was challenging. On top of that, they tacked on a $3 card processing fee at checkout without mentioning it upfront. Parents, please beware: I also bought one of the $4.99 sparkly bear jelly squishy toys for my daughter, and it has a very strong, toxic gasoline smell. I looked it up, and the CPSC recently put out a major warning to discard any squishy toys with this strong chemical odor because they off-gas carcinogenic VOCs like benzene. Shops shouldn't be selling these dangerous jelly toys to kids. Bring your own bags and cash if you go, but definitely skip the squishies!
