As a parent, if you really want to get in the weeds and be in the process with your kid, this might not be the service for you. But if you want to let your child own this part of their life and let them do it themselves but have a guide, Magellan was great. My son goes to a competitive LAUSD magnet and as good as they are, the counselors can't offer the same level of attention or resources as private schools. I saved all the money on private school tuition, so spending a little money for Magellan was well worth it. My wife and I didn't have the stress of nagging our son for a year and at the end of the day, he has a level of confidence and pride for this life milestone because he did it himself. He'll be attending UC Davis in the fall.

From making college lists to making sure our daughter's essays were the best the could be, Kathy guided her, challenged her, and supported her throughout this journey. . and ultimately celebrated with her when she got into many great colleges and universities, many with substantial merit scholarships. I also appreciated Evelyn providing resources to parents, including live presentations and helpful articles and links. I highly recommend Kathy Kelleher at Magellan College Counseling!

When it comes to application and essay time Gina and her team are a well-oiled machine. I received regular calls and emails to make sure we were on track and it was a huge relief to have someone else looking out for the deadlines and due dates. One of the most important things about Gina is she really cares about the kids. She listened to him and what he wanted then worked to make our goals mesh. Even though college applications are over, Gina still reaches out to see how my son is doing and what he's decided to do about college. She is the best!!

I felt we needed to see someone who really understood my son and would give us the best direction, advice and guidance while beginning this stressful college application journey. After my consultation with Milly Roseman, my family felt motivated and optimistic for the first time. Milly was able to understand my son in one session and gave him the confidence he desperately needed. During his junior and senior years, we were exposed to the amazing resources at Growing Minds. Milly paired my son with a tutor to help prep him for AP's and his SAT. Emily would reach out regularly to ensure we met deadlines and Betsey would call me when we needed to see Milly or just to see how we were doing. Growing Minds was there in every aspect of this crazy college journey and there is no way my family could have survived it with out them. My son was accepted to over 11 schools, including his dream school and I have no doubt in the role Milly and Growing Minds had in this HUGE accomplishment. I have already hired them for my incoming 9th grader to ensure she has the best support, is one step ahead of her peers, and she has the best guidance moving through high school. Thank you to the amazing team at Growing Minds. We are forever thankful.

When we first started this process, I honestly thought college advising was mostly about deadlines,…read moreapplications, and editing essays. What we didn't realize was how much of it would involve helping our daughter understand herself more clearly. What stood out about working with Trevor was that he never tried to turn our daughter into the "perfect applicant." In fact, he pushed in the opposite direction. Whenever something sounded overly polished or generic, he would stop her and ask questions until she got back to something real. Over time, that completely changed the quality of her essays and interviews because they actually sounded like her. One thing I especially appreciated was how observant and thoughtful the guidance was. Trevor noticed patterns in our daughter's personality and experiences that helped formulate her applications. He guided her to recognize that some of the challenges she experienced growing up were not things to hide from, but experiences that shaped her empathy, resilience, creativity and a person. The admissions process today is overwhelming, especially for families trying to navigate auditions, essays, competitive schools, and financial considerations all at once. Having someone who understands both the strategic side and the human side of the process made a huge difference for our family. Our daughter was admitted to UCLA, which we are incredibly proud of, but I think the bigger takeaway is that she came out of this process more confident in who she is and what she brings to the world. That is something far more valuable than an acceptance letter. We are very grateful for Premier College Guidance and would absolutely recommend them to families looking for guidance that is thoughtful, honest, and deeply individualized.

The process felt largely self-directed, with limited one-on-one guidance, little sense of investment in our daughter's individual journey, and no meaningful follow-up. Sessions were group-based, emails were bcc: ed amongst a large group of students, and when she needed personalized support, it often took several days to schedule meetings, with some emails going unanswered. All they did was glance at her PIQs and applications once. Given our level of investment, we expected much more personalized attention, involvement, and genuine interest in her success. What a major disappointment and waste of thousands of dollars!

They have created a system that truly helps the student organize his/her/their thoughts and ideas in order to put their best foot forward and create a college application that represents who the student is and what their achievements are. Both my children worked with College Zoom. My son is a very typical young man who had a hard time getting started with his applications, and College Zoom did an excellent job supporting him every step of the way. My daughter, on the other hand, was very motivated and College Zoom worked well with her enthusiasm and organization. I am happy to report that both kids got into their DREAM schools (USC and UC Berkeley) with College Zoom's help. David and College Zoom really understood each student's unique needs, and also helped this mom feel less worried!!

College Zoom was instrumental in my success with college applications. I've gotten into more…read moreschools than I could ever even dream about, and Harvard is where I will be going for the next four years. When I started the CZ program, my vision was that Yale and the Naval Academy were my unlikely 10% chance dreams, while I'd realistically have a 50% chance of landing at Purdue (which is still a great school nonetheless), and a 40% at a Vanderbilt or Northwestern-level school. When I got into the Naval Academy, I thought that would be it. And then came Yale, where at that point I applied to Harvard and Princeton more or less to put my name in the drawing hat. But to be standing here at the end of the journey, having gotten into all of these top universities as an engineering major, I truly never could've dreamed it at the beginning. It was only possible with CZ's help, between the hours and hours poured into the personal statement, supplementals, cutting and rewriting the activity sheet. They told me exactly how to fill out each section of my applications in the optimal way, while leaving ample room for me to represent myself through my own words. And when it came to college interviews - the part I was most nervous for - CZ provided me with ample practice and resources to gain the confidence I needed. I know that without their guidance and organization, I would've been lost in the process and fallen behind quickly. Before applications started, its college planning package helped me by pushing me to create a Passion Project in high school. I tended to be someone with strong academics and average extracurriculars, and this concept pushed me to lead impactfully within the computer science club at my school - which, looking back, was both very important to my applications and is something I value even beyond college admissions. As someone who tended to shy away from leadership activities like these, without CZ's encouragement for me to pursue them, I would've missed out on a lot of opportunities for self-development in high school so I am grateful for its guidance in this respect as well. All in all, CZ's straightforward and effective guidance, in conjunction with its reasonable cost, made it the best choice for me! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this organization to others. It's been awesome working with them, and I owe my success with the application cycle to them.

It only added to my stress and anxiety that revolved around school and writing. We all knew something was very wrong but I never fit into any of the more commonly known learning disabilities. I started seeing a new therapist and psychiatrist who worked closely together. They suggested that perhaps I may have something called Written Expressive Disorder. This happened to be the break through that was needed. My grandmother delved into research about the disorder and came across something called an Educational Therapist. From there we discovered the amazing Dr. Shannon Kroner. I met with Dr. Kroner and immediately started working with her. We worked together for a year. By the end of that year I went from barely being able to write a single paragraph to writing a college level three page paper with confidence! I signed up for a religious studies class at Pasadena City College and finally experienced educational success on my own. Without the help of Dr. Kroner I never would have gained the confidence in my ability to write anything longer than three sentences or reach academic achievement independently.

Over the following weeks, I watched each essay come together and be finalized one by one. She created a list of schools and a structured calendar that kept my daughter on track.
