My daughter found Oxford after trying several other college counselors for essay help. Many lacked empathy, patience, knowledge about culture, or how to draw the reader in with more than facts in the short space of word count. JT was the gift she needed. He made himself available, is patient, accommodating and has the worldly life & writing skills to hit all the angles. My daughter did the base work and research on her own for the foundation for her essays, but JT knew how to hone them to make sense, and get everything in the word count without compromising the emotion my girl was seeking. She was distraught and overwhelmed until she found him through word of mouth at school. JT was the first college counselor that could work one on one with her and I didn't have to be part of the process because after reading what they produced, we trusted him. She ultimately earned full tuition in 5 merit scholarships to our local US News ranked top 25 college because she had put in the hard work academically, and holistically through the years, but JT understood her goals to write a story weaving in everything she had done (which was a lot) within the word count without compromising the quality of essays. My recommendation is for your teen do the research on the strongest activities they want to present in a bullet point list, pre-write out factual essays trying to squeeze in a coherent story and then go to JT to help him understand the direction. This saved her time and us money, plus helped her feel confident when they would hang up on what she was to go fix before the next call. She did all by Zoom, and maximized her time this way. From there, they crafted compelling essays that I'm still proud to re-read. Thank you Oxford for finding JT. We could not have gotten through this without him. As a parent, I researched many different test prep options and decided to go with Oxford. Many of my daughter's friends had great experiences at Oxford which also helped our decision process. Woah! Oxford helped me so much and helped me with that extra push! Jerome is an incredible tutor, although there were a couple questions he didn't understand during our sessions. SUE helped me write master piece essays! She helps in structuring essays from the beginning to the end and making sure its quick, concise, and straight to the point! Not only did my 4 years of endless nights of studying, hundreds of passionate extra curricular's and good grades help me get into my DREAM SCHOOL at UCLA, but Sue helped me out so much every step of the way. I couldn't have gotten the ACT score I got or got accepted into UCLA and Berkeley without Oxford. I came into Oxford with a 21 on the ACT diagnostic test, but with prep from Jerome (one of the tutors) and the resources they provided, I ended up getting a 34 on the actual exam. As for college app preparation, I didn't have the best grades but with my new ACT score and help from Sue (another tutor), I worked to make my essays the best they could possibly be. Couldn't have gotten where I am without them! Oxford is the first place I'd recommend for those that need help with any form of academics/prep. read more

Oxford was incredibly helpful for my college application process and ACT review. after having taken the SAT three times after a summer boot camp at another institution and not getting good scores, i decided to try oxford for one-on-one tutoring. their teaching method is very attentive and hands-on, as compared to a larger classroom setting. this allowed the teacher to really focus on improving my problem areas. i took the ACT once and ended up using that score for my applications. they really care about the success of their students. i still continue to keep in touch with john, and he checks up on me from time to time as i am going through my first year at UCLA read more

Oxford was tremendously helpful to me in scoring well on the ACT and getting into the college that I wanted. I came to Oxford with a 29 on the ACT and I left with a 35. They made it very easy to schedule appointments, whether it be for tutoring in an individual subject or taking practice tests. As the ACT got closer many times I would just show up unannounced and they would give me a test and a desk. I would review Math and Science with Jerry and Reading and English with JT. There is no way I could have gotten a 35 without their help. My GPA was 3.8 when applying to college and I got into Northwestern University as an engineering student. JT was so helpful in planning/writing my essays. He walked me through the entire process and helped me become a much better writer. If i ever had a question I could just email him and he would respond very quickly.
