My son needed help with 8th grade algebra and I needed to find a facility that would be reliable and Mathnasium was a good fit for us and reasonably priced. A minimum of 5 sessions (monthly) is required for the monthly membership but you can add more if needed according to your child's needs. We came in and my son took an assessment that took 1.5 hours. To be fair it was said that this assessment was one of their longer ones. Every child that comes in, needs an assessment done so the facility can create a learning path for them. Once that's established a binder is created, which is used as a tool to guide them and challenge them when they come in. They also help with homework which was a priority for us. The team is made up of young adults who have recently graduated or in their senior year of high school. I personally thought it's a wonderful pairing because they can explain these new/current methods of math and can relate to their clientele. Personally, team leader Bianca was super helpful registering us and was knowledgeable in helping my teen with his homework. After his first session he felt like he was assisted in the way he needed to understand the material. Which is a WIN for us all! So lucky these guys are nearby! My child is very bright, but math isn't interesting to her, so she gets behind without help staying focused. We went to this facility in sophomore year of high school, and again in senior year. The entrance eval picks up on the weaknesses and the program helps to rebuild whichever foundations were lacking to assure success. Its a shame can only give 5 stars. Unfortunately my daughter got my math brain. It was about 6th grade when I realized that I would not longer be able to help her with math. Luckily Mathnasium opened near our home. I was a little skeptical at first. I had my daughter in Kumon previously but the way they did things seemed counter productive. They would sit the kids down and give them a booklet to have them work on. This was like giving my daughter extra homework! It was crazy! At Mathnasium we were given the option to have my daughter work on the grade level math she placed into or on homework she had any issues with. This was exactly what I was looking for! I signed up and my daughter has been kicking ass ever since. Not to mention we have been arguing less over homework. :) Things were going wonderfully, then Covid hit. Homeschooling is not my thing and I do not know how any kid can learn math over a zoom lecture. Luckily Mathnasium was ready. They reduced the amount of kids allowed in center by requiring advanced sign ups, put up plexiglass barriers, required masks, face shields and social distancing. For those who didn't feel comfortable with the safety protocols, they offer personalized video tutoring. I honestly do not think my daughter would have learned anything in Algebra II without the staff at Mathnasium and I don't even want o think about what her grade would have been. Lastly, but certainly not least, the owners of this location are the kindest most wonderful people. Shaq, has bent over backwards to accommodate my daughter in anything she needs. You can tell that the most important thing to him is the child's success. They even have a wall dedicated to showcasing good grades their clients have received. This place is worth it's weight in gold. Yes, it isn't cheap (its is reasonable), but the way I look at it... the study skills that are taught and help my daughter receives here, will help her get into a good college (hopefully with a scholarship) and I wont be one of those parents whose kid is living in the basement until they are 40! Mathnasium of Chatsworth is run by Shakeel and Aafreen who are both caring parents who understand children & run their center very professionally. They have a great team of young tutors who assess each childs math needs & work very well with the kids on an individual basis. Mathnasium@Chatsworth is THE place to take your kids to learn math. We were lucky to be one of the early benefactors of this institution. Shakeel, Afreen and their team of tutors are a great hit with my son who has been attending the classes here since almost two years now (yes, the review is coming too late). They make learning Math fun, simple and effective. The staff here are not just good tutors but also great mentors for the kids. It was one the best decisions we made for our son. Even though we have a Mathnasium close to where we live, we drive to the Chatsworth location simply because of the dedicated staff and the great care and attention they give to the kids. I regret not writing a review sooner but all I want to say is that Mathnasium of Chatsworth is the right place for anyone who needs to improve their understanding and sharpen their core Math skills required to be successful academically. Although every individual student has their own unique ways of learning such as hands-on, visually, and verbally, the tutors are considerate and accommodate all types of learners. No matter what type of learner you are, if you want to improve yourself in Math, come to Mathnasium to get some real results. In the first place, the reason why I joined the center was because I was struggling so badly in pre-calculus and didn't understand any concepts. Before officially joining, I was given a free evaluation test which revealed both my weaknesses and strengths in Mathematics. With my results from the diagnosis, I figured where I stood and also found out my fundamental skills were very mediocre. A personal program was also formulated in order to sharpen my skills to strengthen my foundation and become successful in higher level courses, such as pre-calculus. When I found out that my basic skills were very poor it saddened me at first, but also enraged and inspired me to improve myself.I realized Math is like building a building, without completing the first floor and then building up to the second floor, the building's structure would be very weak and fall apart when building higher floors. In other words, to be successful in more advanced courses such as pre-calculus and calculus, or any course, one must have a strong background and understanding of the basics in order to build their way up to new skills. Mathnasium turned weaknesses into strengths which gave a better foundation of basic necessary skills which ultimately resulted in an improvement of my comprehension. Furthermore, the time I spent at the Mathnasium was a very pleasant experience because of its' amazing staff and atmosphere. The tutors are very knowledgeable professionals who are very supportive and opened minded towards all their students. The day I first walked into the center ,was also the day I knew I was welcomed. I want to especially thank the tutors Rico, Joseph, Elias and Zain for paving the way to my success. Most especially ,I would like to thank the owners who were very encouraging and considerate to all their students. Without these people the experience would not be as enjoyable and appealing to students. What inspired me to love learning was the incredibly friendly environment and the positive attitudes of the tutors. Overall the staff at the Mathnasium is very professional and enhances the learning experience. Additionally, the six months I spent at Mathnasium significantly improved my overall understanding of math and also built my confidence. I started from having an F/D- average on test and quizzes and as my understanding became a little better, I got a C+ average and finally now I stand at a B+/A- average on test and quizzes .From slight to even larger improvements in my grade in pre-calculus, I realized that I was capable of much more and it drove me to create higher standards for myself, instead of striving for just "passing", I now strive for excellence. Being there, I learned that in order to be successful, you must work your way up little by little to the top and also never give up. Generally speaking, the center paved the way to my success while also improving my overall character and confidence. I genuinely enjoyed my experience at Mathnasium, it also changed my perspective of Math from despising it to absolutely enjoying it. I learnt a lot and developed great study habits and skills.
