Our child went from struggling with math and reading to actually looking forward to sessions and gaining confidence week after week. Homework time is no longer a battle, and the improvement in school has been noticeable--not just in grades, but in attitude and independence. The communication with parents is also fantastic. We always get clear updates, honest feedback, and helpful strategies to use at home. Whether your child needs a little extra support or advanced enrichment, this is the place. Dear Yelpers, I…read morewanted to share our experience with Ms. Jennifer, who has helped my 3rd grader (now 4th grader) to enjoy writing and reading comprehension along with improvement in his grades over a span of just 10 weeks (with 1 hr tutoring 3x per week) and over zoom!! Since the shelter in place occurred with the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, my son required more support in school assignments and homework. He is a good student overall and I grew concerned when I saw that he scored a 68% on a reading comprehension assignment. I then tried to help support him myself, but quickly realized it became too stressful. It was at that moment when I saw his frustration, that I recognized we needed a tutor. Hiring a tutor was one of the best decisions I have made because my son gained knowledge in writing skills and tips in reading comprehension, all while enjoying and learning new skills. At the end of the school year, he had a reading comprehension test and scored a 95%! We were all so proud of him and I have no doubt Ms. Jennifer taught him skills which he used to achieve this score. If you are looking for additional support for your child, I would highly recommend Ms. Jennifer because she is truly a gem. She is not just a tutor, but she genuinely cares about your child and will create lesson plans specifically geared towards your child's interests and skill level. For instance, she knew my son enjoyed playing basketball and in one of her sessions, she selected an article about his favorite basketball player, Steph Curry. He was so excited to have lessons with her and looked forward to learning. I genuinely appreciate her approach in teaching my child with professionalism, kindness, and patience; she is truly a world class teacher! I am forever grateful for Ms. Jennifer and encourage any parent who is struggling to find support for his/her child to consider Ms. Jennifer!

We immediately liked the owner and instructors! Our son enjoyed going every week, we even walked 1.5 miles each way twice a week and he never complained. That's unheard of for a fifth grader, but he honestly liked the environment, the instructors and definitely the snacks! His school didn't give homework so he only worked on the curriculum that Mathnasium provided and we weren't really able to determine if Mathnasium was truly effective until he got his end of the year repot card. For the first time, he received "exceeeding" marks ONLY in math! And even more indicative of Mathnasium's effect is the glowing progress reflected between his midterm and end of the year marks. He did a little over seven months, twice a week consistently at Mathnasium and I'm honestly really pleased with the progress he made! The best part is that he sincerely enjoyed his time there this school year and wants to continue! Much gratitude and love for everyone at the Northridge Mathnasium!
