Evelyn spends lots of time traveling and getting to know colleges all around the country. Her specialty is small colleges of the type that our son was interested which was what led me to choose her in the first place. She first helped him with planning his standardized testing schedule and picking the right classes in high school so that he was taking a challenging mix of classes that would appeal to admission officers. Then she helped him to identify those schools that were of interest, and together they created a balanced list including safeties, targets and reaches. Then, she helped him craft essays and target his applications before he actually started filling out the applications which they did together. As an added bonus, Magellan has computer software that reminded our son when he had work to do so we never had to nag him about doing his applications or assignments because Evelyn had already done the hard lifting. I couldn't recommend Evelyn highly enough. Our son is flourishing at his chosen college, even during COVID, and we feel very fortunate that we had Evelyn to guide us on our journey.

As a parent, if you really want to get in the weeds and be in the process with your kid, this might not be the service for you. But if you want to let your child own this part of their life and let them do it themselves but have a guide, Magellan was great. My son goes to a competitive LAUSD magnet and as good as they are, the counselors can't offer the same level of attention or resources as private schools. I saved all the money on private school tuition, so spending a little money for Magellan was well worth it. My wife and I didn't have the stress of nagging our son for a year and at the end of the day, he has a level of confidence and pride for this life milestone because he did it himself. He'll be attending UC Davis in the fall.

Navigating the college application process felt overwhelming at first, especially with all the deadlines and paperwork. The team at Premier College Guidance made everything manageable and stress-free. From the start, they provided personalized support, helping my daughter identify colleges that matched her interests and goals. They kept us on track with every deadline, sending reminders and offering expert advice on essays and applications. Trevors knowledge of the FAFSA process was extremely helpful! They ensured we submitted everything correctly and on time. Most importantly Trevor and Lindsey understood our unique challenges and offered encouragement and resources tailored to our situation. Thanks to their guidance, my daughter felt confident throughout the process and received several acceptance letters! She now attends her first choice dream school! They turned a stressful journey into an exciting and successful experience. I am very grateful for Trevor and Lindsey at Premier College Guidance.

The process felt largely self-directed, with limited one-on-one guidance, little sense of investment in our daughter's individual journey, and no meaningful follow-up. Sessions were group-based, emails were bcc: ed amongst a large group of students, and when she needed personalized support, it often took several days to schedule meetings, with some emails going unanswered. All they did was glance at her PIQs and applications once. Given our level of investment, we expected much more personalized attention, involvement, and genuine interest in her success. What a major disappointment and waste of thousands of dollars!

They have created a system that truly helps the student organize his/her/their thoughts and ideas in order to put their best foot forward and create a college application that represents who the student is and what their achievements are. Both my children worked with College Zoom. My son is a very typical young man who had a hard time getting started with his applications, and College Zoom did an excellent job supporting him every step of the way. My daughter, on the other hand, was very motivated and College Zoom worked well with her enthusiasm and organization. I am happy to report that both kids got into their DREAM schools (USC and UC Berkeley) with College Zoom's help. They have had such a wonderful experience here and it is their favorite part of each and every day. Veronica and the rest of the staff do an incredible job of tailoring an academically oriented yet fun & creative curriculum for each individual child. They do a wonderful job of challenging the kid,s yet also helping to build their confidence. I love that they not only work to improve their mandarin language skills, but also writing and math. Each week there are special activities like cotton candy making / boba making days or other fun activities like play doh day or lego day that our kids look forward to all week long. They are also very flexible with our needs and schedule changes and have a wonderful space that is clean, safe, and beautiful. We cannot recommend Leap Dragon highly enough and would encourage anyone interested to at least give their program a trial. We did a trial last year and are so happy we did. We visited 2 other chinese immersion programs and while they were also good, we feel that Leap Dragon had the best balance of caring teachers, a nurturing learning environment, and an affordable price.

Very disappointing experience with NIU College in Woodland Hills…read more My daughter spent approximately $2,000 to take the phlebotomy class at NIU College, and we were told that employment assistance/placement would be provided after completing the program. Unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing. The biggest issue has been the lack of communication. Calls and voicemails to the counselors often go unanswered or are not returned, making it very difficult to get basic questions answered or understand what is happening with employment placement. It also seems like there is very little communication between the staff, because different people don't always appear to know what is going on. For a school that is charging students thousands of dollars, I expected much better professionalism, communication, and follow-through. It feels like they are very quick to take your money, but once you've paid, getting a response or meaningful assistance becomes extremely difficult. NIU College needs to seriously improve its communication with students, hire counselors who are responsive and accountable, and have stronger leadership and oversight from its director. I would strongly encourage anyone considering enrolling to ask very specific questions about employment placement and, most importantly, how the school will actually follow through on those promises after you have paid your tuition.
