The groomers are great, but the owner is super pushy. The reviews are correct about the extra time charges. Once they took our dog in late and still charged extra time when it was them who were running behind. They also did not have private rooms. My dog was left to wait in the room while another dog was being groomed and another dog lay waiting in the waiting area. We'd stay with Collar and Comb because we love the groomers and have no fault with them, but we can't deal with the owner's pushy attitude. It's unappealing and a bit creepy. Edited: since I can't respond to the owner's comment, I have to say that he is correct. Every 1.5 hr grooming has included 45 mins of extra time charged. They're so transparent that I didn't even notice I've been paying this. I don't think they know what transparency means. When we first spoke to Paul, he said grooming takes 1-1.5 hrs and additional time will be charged. Never were we told the groom is actually (by his math and the way we charged) only 45 mins. Make it make sense. I really applaud the professional behavior of Paul. Messaging us telling us our dog is no longer welcome because I wrote a bad review instead of trying to remedy the situation is amazing customer service. read more

Took my 11-year-old dog Bruce to Collar & Comb and couldn't be happier with the experience. They treated him with so much patience and care, especially as a senior pup. He even got his first hot stone massage and was completely relaxed afterward. The team also gave my husband and I really helpful advice on keeping him healthy and supporting his longevity, which I really appreciated. I made an appointment for my two dogs yesterday for today at 11:15 am. Paul quoted me a higher price for the specialty grooming, and after I mentioned it was higher than what their website said, he explained that the website hadn't yet been updated to reflect the price change effective December 1. I still decided to give them a try. This morning one of my dogs woke up throwing up and I immediately notified them I would not be able to make my appointment. They insisted on charging me a $100 cancellation fee, even though there was no way I could have given 24 hours' notice. I will not bother using their services. Edit: In response to my review, I would like to note that Paul loves to use the word "transparency," yet I notified them two hours and 15 minutes before my appointment, not one hour before, and I did so before they even had opened for the day. I also couldn't take just one dog to his appointment, since I had to arrange to take my sick dog to the vet on short notice. After all of his comments given to me on the phone when making the original appointments, about the compassion and sensitivity used in treating their dog clients, his choice to prioritize covering his profit over empathy when dealing with someone stressed over a sick puppy, and who was a first-time and potential repeat customer, speaks volumes. I was hoping you would do the math: charging me a $100 cancellation fee and losing my future patronage of $350 for each visit was a terrible business decision. read more

The card they hand out prominently states "$50 OFF 1ST GROOMING" in large, bold text. That creates a very clear expectation of a flat $50 discount, however, I received 20% off instead ($34). The card does mention 20% off, but it does not clearly state that the discount is actually 20% off, capped at $50. When I went to pay, that's what they told me - but that limitation isn't spelled out anywhere. Paul comes across as extremely pretentious and speaks to customers as if they're doing everything wrong with their pet. To be clear, I was satisfied with the grooming service itself--the manager and groomer were both very friendly, and my pet looked great when I picked her up. What I don't understand is the pricing. The groomer told me my pet did an amazing job, had no issues whatsoever, and even received an A+ on her report card. Yet I was still charged a $20 "Hard to Handle" fee. That doesn't seem to align with the feedback I was given. I was also charged $60 for deshedding at $15 per 15 minutes. You're telling me that out of the hour and a half my pet was there, an entire hour was spent deshedding? That seems excessive and raises questions about how these additional charges are calculated. The biggest issue is that the quote you provide is nowhere near what customers end up paying. While the grooming quality was good, it feels like this business looks for every opportunity to add extra charges after the fact. On top of that, the overall experience leaves pet owners feeling judged rather than valued. Because of that, I won't be returning. I don't mind paying for quality service, but I do expect transparent pricing and honest communication. Unfortunately, this experience felt more like an upsell than customer service. read more

Literally could not recommend a grooming salon more. Collar & Comb is a gift to the pups & pup parents of LA. The staff offer the utmost care, every pup gets 1 on 1 attention, and the pricing is fair considering the quality of service. Bonus: Complimentary hard seltzers/beers. The best part of all is my dog Marly shows no resistance when I drop him off (he typically starts shaking when we pull up at our previous groomers). The proof is in the pudding, this team is A-1 and all other pet care establishments could stand to take a page out of C&C's book. So grateful this place exists! read more

When I mention if he can slow down with the excess fees, he said good luck and hung up. This is how you handle incoming leads?! This was a never-experienced moment of trying to give a business my money. Imagine how they'd treat my dog when they're so awful to humans?! read more

I am honestly shocked by how unprofessional and rude this business has become. I used to bring my dog here back in 2023, and at that time they always did a great job, which is exactly why I decided to come back in 2026 with my new four-month-old puppy. When I reached out to book, I was told I would need to prepay because of a no-show appointment from three years ago. While I understand policies and would normally have had no issue with prepaying, the way this was communicated was unbelievably hostile and rude. The co-owner's attitude over the phone was so aggressive and disrespectful that I immediately changed my mind. If this is how they choose to speak to potential clients, I would never feel comfortable leaving my puppy in their care. I politely apologized for taking up his time and respectfully let him know that I no longer wished to book the appointment. In response, he abruptly hung up in my face. The level of unprofessionalism and outright rudeness was appalling. No customer should be spoken to with that kind of hostility, especially someone who was willing to return based on a previously positive experience. This is absolutely not how you conduct business, and unfortunately, it completely changed my view of this place. read more

I assumed I was paying for the full service, not a timed slot. Had I known, I wouldn't have booked, as that's the cost of a high-end human haircut. The grooming ended up taking three hours because my cat was nervous and the groomers were being very careful (which I appreciated), but I would have skipped the bath and extra steps if I'd known it would result in additional fees. When I raised this with the owner, he acknowledged the staff should have told me about the rollover charge - but I had asked about pricing at the time of booking, so the responsibility should also fall on him to make this clear. As for the haircut itself, it's patchy. They kindly offered to fix it for free, but I don't feel comfortable putting my cat through it again.
