Ok easiest five star in a while. Daughter and I had just returned from a long trip I was really beat and frankly was thinking Taco Bell. My daughter said. No dad we are going to Cole's. Ok from Va beach and don't know Staten Island but what a great meal. The waitress was super and the food was excellent. Not great for anything other than a handful of dishes. Their shrimp parm and scallops/shrimp over risotto are pretty good, but everything else is mediocre or bad. Had one of the blandest, dryest pork chops here a while ago. I just recently had a labster ravioli special as well that had undercooked pasta. Not al dente, actually just not cooked enough. Cocktails are expensive and diluted heavily. Their old fashioneds taste like slightly sweetened water. You have to mix them up a bit yourself to make it better, but they still have way too much water. read more

Coles is a family owned restaurant that always makes you feel welcome. It has nautical theme decor and is right off the water by a boat dock. They also host local artists paintings displayed for sale. The staff is friendly and hospitable. The portions are large and the price is affordable. The food is classic Italian seafood style. I have always enjoyed whatever I ordered here, classic and done correct. Highly recommended filet of sole or chicken francese. All entrees come with vegetables and a potato croquet. read more

We were in town and decided to stop here for lunch. There was big party going on, so we were asked to sit in the "outdoor" part of the restaurant, which was beautiful. We overheard the waitress say that the owner only puts out the dinner menu on Saturdays, and not the lunch menu, even if it's lunch time. (Strange!!) We didn't know this upon ordering and ended up ordering from the dinner menu. Nonetheless, I thought the food was good. The sauce on my penne was delicious, but I do think my shrimp could have been cooked for another minute or two. My fiancé ordered the fried shrimp. They were battered to perfection, but unfortunately lacked seasoning. The spinach was good, but the garlic was too overwhelming for him. Overall, it was a pleasant one-time visit. read more

I had my bridal shower at Cole's in November 2025 and it was INCREDIBLE! The service, the food, the decor- everything was on point! The staff was so incredibly nice and accommodating. I could not have asked for a better experience! The room was perfect for me and my party of 60 people! I would deff recommend Cole's for any party or any meal in general! I had my baby shower here and everything was perfect. They were always so patient if we called, regardless of who answered the phone and were very willing to assist if we needed to go there with any further questions. I've eaten here with my family many times. Every time we patronize Coles Dockside, it gets worse with every visit. Today was our final visit, and I can't see us returning. We ordered chicken fingers and French fries for my kids, and for an appetizer, the bacon-wrapped scallops, which I can say were the only two good dishes. Also ordered was the sesame-crusted tuna, which was unseasoned. It had no flavor at all. It did not have a sear and instead tasted like overcooked, bland, and rubbery chicken. The vegetables that came with it were watery and unimpressive. The shrimp and scallop dish that comes with risotto was not great. The risotto was alright. However, the scallops were like mush. A pool of oil was on the bottom, so finishing the risotto without a spoonful of oil wasn't possible. Disappointing, to say the least. read more

What a great time we had celebrating my wife's birthday! Getting greeted as soon as we walked in was such a welcoming feeling. Our server Amber treated us with utmost respect and was very attentive to our requests. Even though we had a party of 23, Amber and her team provided excellent service. Our drinks never ran out, our dishes was super hot and our laughs never dulled down! The atmosphere and ambience inside was so friendly as the sun shined through the beautiful windows which displays those beautiful boats parked outside. Nightmare evening!! 2 and a half hours waiting for meals that never came. We ate two baskets of bread while we watched larger parties that came in after us enjoy 3 course meals. After the first hour, we tried to cancel our dinner orders and leave. Our server, Phil, said we couldn't cancel because our meals had just been fired and would be out shortly. That turned out to be a big fat lie. Our reservation was for 5:30, by 8 o'clock we left hungry and angry. We reluctantly took our meals to go because the manager also refused to cancel our order when we asked him. He said it was all their fault and that he was going "comp" us our meals. Someone should explain to him that comp is short for complimentary, not 20% off. I felt swindled. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

food was ok. restaurant is really showing its age. to start the wooden steps to enter desperately need replacement. they are rickety. floor on the porch dining area also needs replacing and the windows. which in most cases are sliding doors are filthy. It's a shame what rough condition the place is in because you always got a very nice meal there and it is reasonably priced although not cheap. service was attentive. to bad the owners didn't give this place some much needed love during the winter. read more

Quaint seafood restaurant with cozy feel. Came here to try out some of the appetizers which were good, but I've had way better. The freshness is there, but I felt they were missing a lil something extra. The menu is completely seafood based with an Italian base. The tomato sauce was tasty and flavorful, especially when you see garlic and basil incorporated in the sauce. The bartender and staff were very pleasant and curteous. The bartender is also a magician which was entertaining to see some of his tricks. Parking might be tricky as the location is on the seashore. read more

Place was very busy on Friday, 7/25. We were seated right away but it took a long time for a server to come take our table. We ordered wine and a martini (actually charged $4 for olives in the drink!) I never saw that in my life! crab cake appetizer (very good) and 2 fish specials (halibut). Specials were $46 each. Just came home from a birthday dinner. All I can say is we won't be going back. Started off good with apps and drinks. When the entrees came a bug of some sort crawled out from under my sons plate. He squashed it and flicked it off the table. There was an employee standing behind our table who witnessed the incident and he kicked the bug aside. This pretty much ruined everyone's appetite. I spoke to the server and explained the situation. She went to find the manager but could not locate him so she offered us desert to go. We declined. She finally located the manager who offered us 10% off the bill which was insulting. Very disappointed and very disgusted! read more

Really wanted to like this place as people say it's one of the best restaurants on the island. I'll start with the positives: The crab legs were great sweet and nicely prepared with good portion size for the price. The Potato croquettes were tasty and crispy. The oysters rockafella were not too bad. Not correctly made by making a bachemel sauce with the cheese and spinach but rather just sloppy and layered with spinach and mozzarella, which is the whole vibe of the food here, very lazily prepared and not professional. The rest of the food was something to be desired. The chicken and shrimp scampi was prepared in a lemon sauce? Scampi is not supposed to be chicken francese. The salmon was not a nice filet but rather the end piece.. ok fine give that a pass.. but was about the sauce..the description said it was supposed to have a mustard sauce instead it was just cream. No mustard at all. The staff was all very nice and pleasant our waitress was very sweet. read more

The food was tasty and well prepared; the presentation was very good. The staff were pleasant friendly and very attentive. There is a marina located very close to the restaurant. We had a retirement party with 50 people there, Cam and his team did a great job. The food was fresh & flavorful, all potions were a good size. too. There were extensive menu options to choose from with the party package. The service led by Scott was top shelf. Our guests raved about it. Went for a birthday dinner there last night. I'm met the new owner, a lovely person. The food was outstanding. We had appetizers, entrées and desserts and one was better than the next so I recommend highly. Restaurant has been there for a very long time.
