Mighty Oaks Farm - One of the friendly goats

This farm is such a wonderful surprise! Learned about them through a local farmer's market - this…read morefamily (husband and wife and two kids) warmly welcome visitors to tour their little working farm. This really is a crazy and fun little place! All of the animals have names and are free range - like Jack and Jill, the resident turkeys; Diamond, the chicken with a brood of guineas; and Sparky, the old retired pointer who didn't have the attention span to cut it as a hunting dog, but still diligently follows around the hens all day and points at them. This is a great spot for families and kids - all of the animals are well-handled and gentle, and are under great control by the owners. Tours are free, and include interaction with all the animals, great info on farm life and even beekeeping, and believe it or not, you can milk a goat as part of the tour! We didn't do that part - maybe next time :) They also create a great line of high quality goat's milk soaps, home grown luffas, and their own honey. All for sale on site. When we went, you have to call to make an appointment for a tour (they're almost always there at the farm), but they said they're working on maybe having regular days/hours during the peak summer months in 2015. Oh, and they're only about 5 minutes off Hwy 58 between Clarksville and Boydton, and just minutes from Rudd's Creek Campground and Occoneechee State Park...

Mighty Oaks Farm - Diamond wasn't able to lay her own eggs - so she's the foster mom of a brood of guineas. Hilarious to watch!

So there's not really too much to do other than sit on some rocking chairs & eat some ice cream (which we did enjoy doing.) I didn't even realize that there was a trail out there until after we had already left and I'm seeing other people's reviews so they may need to put up signs for that in the store area. I feel like the inside is really just ice cream, coffee, and a small little nursery area. Not sure if the drive out there was really worth it for the 15 to 20 minutes we spent out there. The banana ice cream was really awesome though and all of the employees there were very helpful and nice. Definitely a place that you go to when there's an actual event unfortunately we just missed the fall wreath making event Seems like people bring their kids out there to run around the outdoor area. Not sure if the prices of the ice cream or the plants was necessarily great, but it's a smaller owned business I'm sure so it tracks

Great farm with short trail and unique wood troll figurines…read more They have a small garden shop. The staff was friendly and quick to service. They make homemade icecream and sorbet year round. Also they serve coffees and lattes. There is some picnic tables around to enjoy coffee and icecream with a beautiful view of the farm. I tried the coffee leche icecream and the strawberry and green apple cider sorbet. There all great flavors.
