We love their dried beans, Dave's special blend of flour and their raw nuts and dried fruit. We have also enjoyed their course ground farina and winter white wheat. Our children enjoy their chocolate coated mini pretzels. Actually, I like them too. I just try to stay away from them by convincing myself that I don't actually like them. They have a LARGE selection of gluten free products as well. You have probably guessed by now that we REALLY like this place. We live in Spring Lake and still patronize. Funny, when I lived In Wake Forest, I never stopped in. We are members of the coop and enjoy special perks that come with it. I encourage others to join so that the store can open. It is truly a blessing to have this business around.

You can tell that they are very passionate about the work they are doing and just want to bring local based goods to wake forest. I typically buy organic oats and other dry goods. The oats are delicious. I eat them just about every morning and they are so much heartier than store bought oats (also cheaper). The coffee is also magnificent, I hope they offer grinding soon. There are lots of classes for those in search of a more holistic lifestyle, but like i said, not in anyway pretentious. I really hope they do well and I look forward to seeing how they expand in the future.

I love the Durham Co-op and not gonna lie, I'm so glad its survived all these years. Yes, the…read moreprices are a smidge high and yes they don't have everything you need, but still, it's always a wonderful stop to grab some essentials, and things you never know you needed. Like a fox candle! Ha! I love seeing how they have new vegetables and produce every now and then. Back in the day before the pandemic (and maybe they still have this?), they'd have nights where there was a select menu and you could have a weeknight meal for an affordable price. Kind of like Cafeteria food. They gave you coins to pay for it, and the turn out was always so robust. It was a really nice way to get the community together and also try dishes that you probably hadn't had in a while, or even ever. I remember those events, being the talk of the town. My friends would mark on their calendars that it was a "no-cook night" and to meet them there. Fun times. I've been meaning to sign up for their owners program, that is on my to-do list. By donating a certain amount to the co-op, you become a founding member and help support the co-op. It's a sweet way to be involved and invest in the Durham community. I also love the parking situation at the co-op, you are never fighting for a place to park, and the parking spots are not razor thin. At the front of the store, there is a grassy area with picnic benches, and I find it so inviting. People are having lunch dates there, sharing snacks, and just enjoying the weather. I will say though, the co-op is one of those places that I have to remember to go to. Now that I'm writing out all that I love about it, I will continue to keep it on my mind.

All the staff are friendly and helpful, and you won't take your life into your hands if your park in their lot. Think Whole Foods, only smaller and with fewer super high-end items.

My favorite stall to grab a pastry at is definitely Loaf Bakery. Service is always so nice; the Central Park ambiance (usually with live music) is perfect. They also sell wine, baked goods, pastas, honey, salsas and guacamole, chocolate, kombucha, eggs and dairy, kimchi, and jams. The main market is open from 8-12 pm on Saturdays (and seasonally on Wednesdays), go early to avoid some of the lines! The 2 bread stalls will ALWAYS have a long line (go to their store fronts to avoid the lines). There are some small material items you can buy as well (cups, clothes, jewelry, art, soap, baskets), but the majority of this market is food. My favorite stops to make would be Celebrity Dairy for their goat cheese spreads (AMAZING on crackers, get the "Party Mix"!!!!!), and Melina's ravioli (delicious homemade ravioli and pasta sauces). Note #1: Separate parking lot for customers! (Market is ON the Foster Street, which will be closed during the market.) Note #2: NO DOGS allowed!!! TIP: BRING A BAG!!!! NO bags with any purchases, so bring your own!! (Or buy one there.)
