The space was clean and the staff were attentive. I then made my way over to the bakery and restaurant side. The signs make it very clear to understand the breakouts. If you are ordering pastries and coffee you will be on one side, whereas, if you are looking to order off the menu with full service, you will be on the bar side. Nichole's is a well oiled machine. The setup is easy to navigate and the concept is unique. Blending pastries, coffee, cakes, cooking products, wine, breakfast, lunch and dinner into one space is magnificent. I loved my intimate dine in session ordering the avocado toast on sourdough bread with an over hard egg and an orange hot tea. It was the perfect blend and was the best avocado toast I ever had. My belly was far too full after brunch so I went to the bakery side after and bought a chocolate raspberry muffin (also the best muffin I've ever had), chocolate chip cookies (darn near ate them all in one setting) and poppyseed thumbprint cookies with a raspberry filling (jaw dropping). There are so many more products to taste and see so I highly recommend a visit. I totally look forward to my return in August so I can dabble more with pastries and get into the espresso world too. Both the soup and the sandwich tasted so good, that I made a mental note that I need to come back here to try other soups and sandwiches. The other person in my group had a meatloaf sandwich, which I think was one of the specials of the day. I love the effort, and it shows through what they sell. I bet they had at least a dozen types of cookies sitting out, and it was tempting to try a handful or more rather than one, max two (which is what I SHOULD stick to). I tried a ginger cookie and loved it. We also got a cheese garlic bread which was soft, gooey, and wonderful. Then, there were all the other things they had- cake pops, croissants, and other breads. We ordered a couple donuts and an espresso. My son enjoyed the cinnamon sugar and maple. We liked how much icing they put on the donuts. Didn't love the espresso - I'll probably try the regular coffee next time. I was about to order the cream filled donut but someone grabbed it next to me and that was the last one. I fell into the latter category. I'd sampled the donuts and cinnamon rolls before but had never actually visited a physical location. The South Fargo store happened to be on my route out of town, so of course I had to stop for a donut and a cup of coffee. I also had the opportunity to introduce a first-timer to Fargo to this awesomeness. It was Teacher Appreciation Week, so selections were a little slim by late morning, but they were still sufficiently stocked. I sampled the "Churro" donut, while my partner found one featuring their two favorite things: chocolate and peanut butter. Both were delicious, and the coffee definitely put a spring in our step. The scone itself was pretty substantial too and tasted great. Not only did these taste great, but I found it to be a good value too. I paid somewhere between $10-$11 for the three of them and it would have probably been more like $15 when thinking of other places I get pastries. Also, the service was very friendly. I signed up for their customer program, which the owner let me know was going to knock $5 off my sale total, but I told her to save it for later. In recent years, I find myself not using the punch cards or freebies as much for these small biz, as I sometimes feel like I'm taking $ out of their pockets and it's not like those programs are the carrot to get me there. The carrot is the good tasting products and my desire to support the local small biz entrepreneur.
