This place is no longer in business. When they were there, their ice cream was excellent.

I went to this Cold Stone location a few weeks ago. I ordered a pint of the no one lays a finger on my butterfinger creation, and added reese's. The employee that was making it, realized the pint was not full. She added more ice cream on top and some more toppings. I was not charged for the reeses. We loved the creation so much, that I went back today to get the triple pint. I was charged for the reeses. I could have ordered it online with 6 toppings, the butterfinger signature creation has 4 toppings and adding reeses would have been 5 total toppings, so that means no charge for adding in reeses. When I got home, I noticed the container was only about 80% full. So the employee today had the same issue as the other, but instead of giving me a full container, gave me one partially filled. I would have overlooked the extra topping charge, but it's a frustrating experience to not get the amount you paid for, plus having inconsistencies in workers. Again, the creation was great, but I may try another location next time. read more

I got home and saw they had made one look bigger by placing a small cup inside the big one.! My husband specifically took me here for an early Mother's Day treat. I'm lactose intolerant and they have chocolate almond milk ice cream. He even came in and asked an employee before we got our daughter out of the car. Got to the window to order and they were completely out of it. They could have said something before our family ordered and when he asked. They did check the back. I didn't want another sorbet. I wanted ice cream! For what it's worth my daughter enjoyed her cotton candy gummy bear ice cream and my husband enjoyed his. We only had to pay for one, but I'll take my money elsewhere for overpriced ice cream. read more

I'm honestly so over this particular location. This is NOT the place to go if you or someone you know is allergic to anything. The staff are NOT mindful at all of the counter needing to be cleaned more thoroughly. I understand all the orders being placed at once sometimes, but I don't want to get vanilla ice cream and taste other peoples flavors and see other peoples toppings I'm my ice cream. I just left from there and asked the employee very nicely to wipe down the counter because of these problems. Came in to kill some time and get a shake. I still remember the popularity of Cold Stone when it first came out, but it seems like they are struggling a bit. In my opinion you can't really get a bang for you buck at this place, maybe due to all the overhead in making their marketing products. I do like the "combinations" and options you have, but something did not feel right - maybe it was the high-schoolers that didn't really care that I stood and watching them do inventory while no one else was in the store. What a disappointment. We figured we'd try it out despite the poor reviews since we assumed you can't mess it up but I guess you can! Although there were three employees working including a manager, no one greeted us or even cracked a smile. My icecream was not mixed more than two folds which defeats the purpose of going to coldstone. My husband asked for a waffle cone but got a waffle cup? Weird. This place will always have a special spot in my heart. It was the first ice cream place I've been to when I moved to Charlotte. They are always busy and the staff is normally nice. Their ice creams have an ok price and they have many options of flavors! They have the house signatures flavors or you can create your own with any toppings you may like. They also do not charge for the waffle cone/bowl. I had one of their signature ice creams called berry berry- if I am not mistaken. If you don't like too much sugar that is the ice cream for you, it is even a little bit sour. In general this is s great place for ice cream, good service, good price and good ice cream! read more

I've been to this location about 6 times and it's always really good. With there being so many places to get good ice cream in Charlotte now, I don't want to waste my time with mediocre ice cream. That said, Cold Stone always delivers on good ice cream. I got the Surrender to Strawberry and it was very good. My only gripe is that the strawberries were still kind of frozen. I know the guy helping my just got them from the back, so that would explain why they were still frozen. If they were thawed out, I probably would have given a higher score. All 3 staff members that day were all helpful and attentive. I've tried a lot of different creations there so you can't go wrong with any of it. read more

The selections are mind boggling! Everything sounds good! Making a final decision is Hard! I decided on Our Strawberry Blonde with fresh strawberries and ice cream with graham cracker crunch and whipped topping. I just wanted something fruity and it was. I chose the medium size cup and was glad I did. I was totally full when done but I'm sure that with the small size, I'd have been wanting more. My daughter chose the same as I and loved it too. My two grandkids also loved their choices too- one in a cup and the other in a giant waffle cone He needed a spoon to eat it! Each serving is individually mixed in which distributes all the goodies evenly but it takes a lot of time which equals a long wait time (and even the clerk said it was only an average busy night). I got the founders favorite and my boyfriend got over the rainbow. My ice cream was good but I didn't feel like they gave me that much but they ended up giving my boyfriend way too much. We got the same sizes expect he got in a waffle bowl, so such a difference portion was kinda odd. He stated the waffle was stale and it was too sweet for him. We both struggled to finish his ice cream because it was so sweet. We didn't even finish the top layer because it melted so fast and it was too sweet for us. He did enjoy my flavor though, so we would go back but maybe next time get a waffle bowl of my flavor so we could probably get more bang for our buck lol. read more

Busy for a mid-week rainy night, we stopped by to get our fix. There are only five tables in the store, plus a few right outside. The usual array of flavors including Chocolate and Vanilla, but also White Chocolate, Butter Pecan, Cookie Dough and a bunch more. Flavors change often depending on what they make. There's also a few freezers with pre-mixed ice creams and cakes in assorted sizes, shapes and flavors. Choose your size, which ranges from the very small (kids size) to small 5 ounce (named 'like it' on the menu) to medium 8 ounces (love it) and large 12 ounces (gotta have it), then pick your mix-in which again has what you would expect - various candy bars, nuts and fruits, plus graham cracker crust, waffle cone and the like. You can have a cup or a cone. They also offer assorted waffle cones and bowls, some of which were dipped in chocolate and sprinkles or nuts. So many choices, it was hard to settle. Once done, they hand scoop the ice cream and then with giant flat spoons, mix it up right in front of you. Reasonably prices for a dessert, plus throw in a dollar tip. read more

So, we had a very disappointing trip here last Sunday. The place was dirty, dank and just seemed like it had gone way down hill from what it used to be. I placed a complaint with the Cold Stone Creamery corporate office because I'd much rather see this place thrive than go under from things that could easily be fixed. I also reached out to tthe management company for Rivergate. Within 24 hours (less than), I had heard back from everyone; including the person that owns this particular franchised store. Looks like they didn't know how bad it was. Here's what I heard back: My name is Scott Himes, I work directly with the franchisees of Cold Stone Creamery within the State of North Carolina. I wanted to give you an update on what actions we have taken to correct the conditions of the store as explained in your feedback below. The franchisee has brought in a professional cleaning company to do a complete cleaning of the store. The franchisee is also sending a trainer employee from a different Cold Stone Creamery location into the store to identify and retrain employees. The franchisee is also making some operational changes within the store that should also help improve the overall operations of the location. We hope you will see positive changes in future visits. Thank you for sharing your experience and we look forward to doing better." With that said; it looks like they are going to fix the issues in make it better. We'll definitely now go back in a few weeks to see what progress has been made, but I wouldn't yet give up on this location. read more

Stopped by Cold Stone to have a scoop or two with my girlfriend. The first thing we see is a sign on the door that reads, "No chocolate ice cream" (how does that happen). They were also out of sweet cream and various other flavors, Oreos, pecans, you get the idea. The store was nasty, the counter and glass looked as if they had not been cleaned in days. The tables and chairs had not been cleaned, and there was no sanitation rating displayed. The entire staff acted as if they were in a trance, like they were full on baked from smoking weed all day. I've been visiting Cold Stone since 2006! Ahh High School!!! Wish I could turn back the hands of time. So Consider this my little reunion! My personal favorite: "The Apple Pie A La Cold Stone"....it used to be called "The Pie Who Loved Me". Joining together the perfect combination of Pie and Ice Cream! Amazing! Over the years Cold Stone has added Frozen yogurt, frappes and so much more. The cakes are pretty much the same. I still haven't tried any of them. Fun fact!! When you tip the staff they will sing. Either you get super annoyed like I do, or overjoyed like my mother. I had to hold her wallet hostage!!! I look forward to visiting Cold Stone again, as always! Filthy. Gross...this place has gone downhill. When we went, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for I don't know HOW long. The floors were disgusting. those pedestals that hold the signs have never been cleaned and are caked with crushed candy ice cream, etc...the WHOLE bank of frozen yogurt was unclean and flashing because the were ALL empty! the wood chairs need replaced or refinished. it looked like a run down shop. not going back. read more

Living near here is going to make me gain 10,000 lbs and I am totally okay with that. The thing is - I don't really like ice cream. I am that one girl that can keep a pint of ice cream in the freezer indefinitely. It doesn't tempt me like other sweets do. That said I absolutely adore Coldstone. We moved to the area in December and I have already made a ridiculous amount of visits to this establishment. I basically make my boyfriend stop here with me whenever we are out shopping or dining. Including that one time snow was still on the ground. My particular obsession is the cake batter ice cream. It has a light flavor for such a creamy consistency. I always mix in cookie dough or brownie. Okay, sometimes both. I also always sample the other flavors, just in case I find something that can top my original love. So far the banana has come close but isn't there yet. The staff is friendly. The ice cream is delicious. The price is pricy. This is one place though I feel like the splurge is totally worth it. This was my second trip here today. I left the first time because the line was to long out the door. So when I got to the front of the line I realized why it was so darn slow. Two guys working barely opening their mouth to speak. And moving slow as molasses. The customer service was the worst. Not to mention I went 8:00pm they close at 9:30pm and there were no more ice cream cones. I love the ice cream but the service was way below average. Well, there was alot of unnecessary drama ordering this ice cream cake. I've ordered cakes in the past from the Rivergate location, but it has been about 3 years. I tried to get someone to answer the phone from 12noon until 2:30pm numerous times to place my order, and no one would answer. Then, apparently management changed one year ago and the new owner does not believe in cakes with color. They only want to offer white icing. Thankfully the manager there agreed to give me color on my cake. But then they told me: they don't have white chocolate chips, they are out of toffee pieces, they offered me m&m candy pieces instead and I accepted. However, these are not m&ms.... they are wannabe knock offs. That's fine, but please don't tell me they are m&ms when they are not. It was ready on time and they did a decent job (well, it looked like they ran out of icing when they decided to make 3 exclamation points). Although I appreciate the manager's efforts, due to current colorless policies, difficulty getting ahold of someone to place my order, and running out of needed ingredients, I'll purchase my next ice cream cake at Breusters. We had a TERRIBLE experience. There was virtually no ice cream left due to supplier issues. Not only is this location more expensive but it lacks options and more importantly, it lacks even basic ice cream. They should have closed the store rather than to be unprepared without ice cream. This location also NEVER has a manager, it's run by kids who cannot address a single customer issue or concern. The entire line was complaining. So disappointing. Do not recommend this place to anyone! They didn't even have the basic chocolate, strawberry! I recommend the new Coldstone at Kingsley!!! Great ice cream but inconsistent portion sizes. My husband and I both ordered a small cup but my husband's portion was 2/3 more than my amount. For the price of over $4 for the small, I expected it to be my husband's portion. My portion was barely 2/3 of the cup and that was level with the top. Seemed like a bunch of teenagers working in the shop, which I have no problem with, but no one checking their serving sizes. Will not go back here again nor refer anyone here. Also, the cashier did a double take when she saw my portion served but said nothing. And, yes, I didn't say anything either but I guess I was shocked how inconsistent the portion was. read more

This place is filthy the past two times I have been here. Trash and food stuck on floors, tables and cash register counter. Rims of bins look like they have not been cleaned in over a week. I am surprised it is not shut down for health code violations. I can in at 845pm this past time and crew was supposed to be closing at 9pm. Instead of cleaning they were in the back laughing and yelling having a grand old time while my niece nephew and I had to sit a dirty table.
