My husband and I were part of the kitchen/meal crew and stayed in the Gathering House. The kitchen was quite well-stocked and the extra fridge around the corner + extra storage space was much needed. We did have to bring some of our own equipment but we were thoroughly prepared to do so because Gathering Oaks provided all the information about what was available at the retreat center ahead of time. The sound proofing isn't the greatest in the main house for those staying in the ground floor rooms, but that didn't really end up mattering too much since I'm a pretty deep sleeper. Those who wake up more easily from loud noises may not have as easy a time staying in one of the bedrooms in the Gathering House. The facilities are all very well kept and the kids had a great time with the outdoor activities and the fire pit at night. Would definitely consider Gathering Oaks in the future for smaller retreats (about 40-60 people max).

She was quick to accommodate our large family and made us feel immediately at home. The next morning we ate a delicious family-style breakfast in one of their beautifully decorated dining rooms. Although we were the only ones with young children we were made to feel welcomed and at home. We were immediately introduced to the famous Texan hospitality when Lisa suggested I take the remaining watermelon home with us since we would be moving that day. The young lady working the front --Janai--was so helpful and kind. An amazing asset to their organization. We discovered Alexander's has the best bread pudding that my friend and I had ever had. The clawed tub is very charming that will whisk you away back in time. You'll definitely get a great night's sleep on the bed because it is very comfortable. The sheets are made of unmatched quality are fit for a king and queen. We liked the sheets so much we actually bought a set for our king sized bed at home. We've had the pleasure of meeting Jason, Katie, and Neil the owner and they've made us feel like family while here. When you stay here you definitely have to check out the Shed restaurant and Alexander's. The food at the Shed is exceptional we did the sampler plate, burgers, and cheese curds. They were great. You'll also want to eat at Alexander's on the property at the Inn as the food is phenomenal. We did the beef tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection along with the crab cakes and autumn bread pudding! If you're not staying at the Inn on the Creek you're missing out. Wow!! Simply put,…read moreWOW! Loved it! My wife and I just got married and this was a first night together. We were so happy to have made the decision to spend it here. Not only is Howard the BEST host but the rooms had beautiful antique furniture, amazing claw tubs and it literally felt like home. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and had a super awesome (complimentary) brunch at White Rhino to cap off our stay. We appreciate the quietness and serenity we experienced there. We loved the decor and just appreciated the whole "feel". It may not be for those looking for a trendy fully modernized hotel with all of the up-to-date features (though they DO have Wi-Fi, A/C and satellite TV) but DEFINITELY for those that appreciate the kindness and "breath of fresh air" that you get from a colonial and country living environment.
