Haleem
Rehma N.

I have ordered food here multiple times and Nihari is my go to item from here. The naan here is tasty, and the malai boti was ok. I ventured out from my usual order and tried the Haleem and it was a let down it was super runny and not very flavorful. I wouldn't get that again. I do like this place I just wish it was a little more consistent.

Colachi is a new Pakistani HALAL restaurant that opened up in the Placentia/Yorba Linda area. They serve traditional Pakistani dishes such as nihari, haleem, and BBQ items. The main seating area has space at most for 60 people and a private area for up to 20 more. I tried several dishes to see how the compared to other Pakistani restaurants in the area. I ordered several items to sample and then took the rest for leftovers at home. Gola kabobs ($14) - The initial kabobs I received were over cooked and a little hard. After talking with the manager he had them make some new ones for me, and they were juicier. But taste wise I prefer the ones at Bawarchi and Nikki's. Bihari kabobs ($14) - This was probably my favorite dish here. It was soft, tender and fall apart delicious. Chicken malai ($14) - The boneless chicken chunks were marinated in yogurt, creamy and tasted pretty good. Nihari ($15) - It's hard finding good nihari here in California, and this was decent (best I had was in Dubai). This beef stew (3 large chunks of beef) had good flavoring and was tender. Naan ($2) - The naan was soft, buttery and reasonably priced. Overall, the food wasn't bad and the pricing was fair. I do feel that Bundoo Khan in Fullerton has better bihari kabobs and chicken malai. They also offer catering here. I wanted to try either the chicken or lamb karahi here, but they only served it with bone-in meat.

We have been here a few times and the food never disappoints. Great Pakistani Cuisine. Now on Sundays they have a lunch buffet as well as live BBQ. The tikka, halwa, boti, biryani as well as the kheer were worth the trip. Great Sunday food with family!

We came here on day two of their soft opening and let me tell you it was amazing. The customer service by Ali was amazing. He took on the spot advice and it was like he cared for our opinions. We tried the half chicken karahi, behari kabob, malai boti, and chicken biryani on their recommendations. They redid the biryani after we asked for a little more spice. The behari kabob hit the spot! Omg finally. The malai boti was also great. Both melted in our mouths, were spiced perfectly, and the quality and quantity received were both admirable. The chicken karahi was good as well, just not our type of spice. Ali mentioned for us to just let them know in advance when ordering next time and they will take care of it. The biryani originally came out hot but not spicy. We asked and he brought out a fresh batch that was smoking hot . Ali also mentioned if we let them know beforehand, he can add potato to the biryani (a must for me). Friendly service by Ali and the food was great. We will be back for their lunch buffet, that they offer from Tuesday to Friday from 11 to 3pm for $15/each person. Come check them out!

Omg the food was INSANE!! We got both the mutton and chicken karhais for dine in and ended up taking the chicken briyani and veal briyani to go(whatever, don't judge). Let me tell you, that veal briyani is LEGIT. Colachi, this Pakistani is so glad you're here!! There's even something a little karachi-ish about how the naan tastes. I'm so glad we came here, now please open one in the IE soon!! Also, got haleem and nihari to go. Will try those soon.

Excellent halal restaurant. Delicious Pakistani/Indian halal Tandoor and Karahi cooked foods. Cost-effective prices and superb service by Sherri. Enjoyed the food so much that 6 of us were in the restaurant for 3 hours. Enjoyed the delicious chicken karahi, which is the best in southern California. The taste was just like it would be Peshahwar or Kabul. The tea was awesome and so was the Kheer. This is the best restaurant for Tandoori foods: rooghani and plain naan, all freshly made. Best Desi , Halal Tandoori restaurant in California.

There were only 3 main options: 1) lamb shank, 2) lamb ribs, and 3) lamb skewers. All halal and made with New Zealand lamb which was awesome! We tried all 3: one plate of the shank/ribs combination (which came with a bed of rice, pickled veggies, and a bowl of soup) and also one order of the lamb skewers which came with 3 skewers. Everything was excellent but the lamb shank was truly amazing and my favorite item - the meat was outrageously tender and just fell off the bone as I tried to take a piece - we had the shank just basic with no rub. The short ribs were a close second (we had these with the bbq rub and it was tremendous if you wanted more flavor). The skewers were decent - we had them plain because I didn't want anything too spicy but I would def recommend getting the rub for these if I were to get them again. The pickled veggies balanced the heavy meat and rice items perfectly to round out the meal. We also tried the jasmine yuzu tea drink and the homemade yoghurt which ended the meal nicely. I'm not a fan of lamb in general and generally avoid it at most restaurants, but I was loving every bite. Would highly recommend to try this place if you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner.

We also got the Hokkaido Milk Tea and a Hot salty milk tea. We also got 3 lamb skewers! The rice of the plates was savory and salty and paired well with the lamb. The carrot side dish was very delicious. == SERVICE == We order through the QR code at the table. Staff are very quick to bring utensils and water to the table. Food came out pretty quickly as well. == AMBIANCE == Quite a small store, seats around 26/28 people. There is indoor and outdoor seating.

It was honestly very sad to see as we had been seeing ads pop up places but with zero customers, not sure how they will continue operating. Also, almost half of their menu was not available at this time. The good: as we were the only customers, all staff were coming by to ask how things were. No crazy talking over people. The bad: The restaurant was fairly clean, but there were no hand towels in the women's bathroom. One of the four plates we received for our table had food on it. I wiped it down with a tissue. There is no tandoor setup at the moment. The menu is way overpriced for the quantity of food being served. Food: we ordered a mango lassi, bun kabob, daga kabob, chicken karahi, garlic naan, plain naan, and a paratha. Mango lassi - it was watered down. Missing real mango flavor and the tartiness of the yogurt. Bun kabob - this was fairly good. The egg with daal patty and onions with the chutney was authentic. It's a little pricey, though, for the size. Daga Kabob - this was the star of our experience. The meat was super tender and melt in your mouth with enough spice. But for $20 a plate, I am expecting a lot more. I would also suggest adding a tamarind or green chutney to complimemt this dish. I also found parts of this dish to be a little cold. I'm not sure why. Chicken karahi (half) - My husband liked this dish, but for me, it had too much of a homely taste. This is the type of karahi I make at home, so it wasn't anything special for me. Also, I didn't expect to be served 5 pieces of leg in one dish. They need to have a variety of peices of chicken. The spice level (we ordered spicy) was good. Naan - okay, so how do you open a restaurant and serve people naan out of a packet. I find this practice to be super irritating. It's not justifiable in any sense. I can go pick up from the local grocery store if I want this experience. Paratha - Again, this was a homestyle paratha. I feel like it was also a store bought vs. Hand-made, but I could be wrong. Overall, I think they need to either decrease their prices or increase their plate sizes. It is their opening weekend, and I wish them the best.

I finished the entire bowl and it left me feeling very satisfied like my insides had a warm hug. I also had the rib eye bowl the last time I went and it was also great. I sampled the chicken rice bowl as well and all the items in it were very simple yet delicious. I really liked how fresh and zesty all the veggies were and they balanced the heavy broth from the pho. Restaurant is small and cozy with only a few tables but was very clean with a bright decor - perfect spot for a quick lunch or dinner. Service was very nice both times I went - they helped me understand between the different bowl options and confirmed the ones that I selected were halal which was much appreciated! Overall I really like this place and I'm excited to try it again next time - I think it would be perfect for a rainy day (or any other day).

The place is casual, you order in the counter and they bring the food to you. it's also very self service, you get your own water & utensils. Nothing wrong with that, just different. Place is clean. Food is whatevers though. The egg rolls seem to be a tofu mixture which needed some type of meat as it feels like it's missing something. Now the actual pho bowl was OK but more towards the disappointing side. Their Wagyu doesn't really taste/textured like Wagyu, I'd much prefer they use cheaper cuts if it's not going to to elevate it from regular cuts. The soup does feel more "clean", but you are missing crucial spices and notes that you'd get from traditional pho restaurants. It feels kind of bland and not rich. In addition, the noodle wasn't prepared too well as I tasted starchiness of the rice noodle. Either they did not do a good job blanching or used subpar noodles. Overall don't think I'd return based on the price and taste.

I mentioned I couldn't eat green bell peppers and she graciously took them out of my Greek salad, which she did not have to do and is not part of her job. But her customer service was outstanding. Thank you for hiring such a great employee.

Bottom Line Up Front: If you like Greek food but don't want…read moreto pay big bucks at an traditional sit-down restaurant, Apola can be your yummy, budget-friendly alternative. The Food: Let me start by saying this is clearly an American take on Greek food, so if you're looking for super authentic food, look elsewhere. But if you're OK with a fusion, Apola will satisfy your Mediterranean craving. There are gyros (pita wraps), bowls, combo plates, and burritos (see, there's that American take I was talking about). All of them range in quality from average to really good. Though I've been here several times, I'll focus on my last visit when we got "the Works" pita wrap and a Greek salad bowl. For the Works, it comes with all the fixings, your choice of protein, and fries stuffed inside (yes, inside, not as a side). I chose beef-and-lamb gyro meat, which came in a huge portion. (Pro Tip: I pulled the fries out and got a "free" side. Of course , there's not a lot of fries, but enough to satisfy my fried food craving.) The gyro was big and tasty. For the Greek salad bowl, we also got beef-and-lamb gyro meat. Once again, they hooked it up with the quantity. Nice! The ingredients (tomatoes, cucumber, feta, etc) were all fresh and seasoned nicely. Side note: I do find it odd that they call this dish a salad bowl when it comes in a rectangular plastic tray. But semantics aside, it was quite good. I also ordered a fountain drink and got a Coke. It was nice a crisp with a lot of carbonation. Just the way I like it. It's not as good as the exclusive Coke blend at McDonald's, but was a close second. I have had some pretty watered down Cokes at other places in recent years. The Service: There were two young gentlemen working the last time I visited, and they were both friendly and knowledgeable. They even brought our meals to our table, which was a nice touch for a fast food establishment. The Setting: It's located inside the recently revamped Yorba Linda Downtown, which has revitalized the area and made it a pleasant place to hang out. Unfortunately, on weekends, it's hard to find parking sometimes. Fortunately we came on a weekday and got parking nearby. Inside, Apola is clean and tidy with roughly enough tables and chairs for a variety of party sizes. The Conclusion: Apola offers good Mediterranean-inspired food for a reasonable price (compared to other restaurants these days) -- just don't expect it to be 100% authentic Greek food. It's not perfect and not super cheap, but with the right expectations set, I plan to return on semi-regular basis.

Premium combo = entree + $10 Entree + premium drink + masala fries I tried the bowl with mild biryani, malai chicken, green (mild) sauce, and guava mango lassi. The bowl already comes with the raita sauce (a yogurt sauce), so I got the green sauce as my choice of sauce after asking the staff for recommendations. The protein portion was super generous and very well-seasoned with their spice. The green sauce was my favorite and everything in the bowl mixed well together. The whole bowl was delicious and it didn't feel heavy, wasn't greasy. The Kashmiri Chai and the guava mango lassi are the most popular drinks, so I decided to try the guava mango lassi. The flavors blended so well. One wasn't more overpowering than the other, and the sweetness level was perfect for me, also, not too much ice. Masala fries So crispy and well-seasoned!! Could be a little less salty. Gulab jamun cheesecake Also asked for recommendations for their cheesecakes and decided to go with this one. It has the fried donut ball in the middle with syrup. It didn't taste too sweet to me, but I also have higher tolerance for sweets. The center has so much of the cheesecake cheese and it was super soft and fluffy. So delicious! The samosas were also great! Crispy and not too oily. I also love that they use compostable takeout containers, including the lid! The interior looks nice and there are a few seats available. There's outdoor shaded tables and seats too. The only downside is that I wish the outdoor seats were a bit cleaner. There is a free parking garage, just make sure to park in the retail spaces.
